I have been losing sleep since I got this game. Why? Because I've been busy playing it!
I've played video games for about 14 years now and this is one of the best. Ultra realistic graphics, great gameplay. It's a great game, for everyone of all ages. I play this game with a 5 year old all the time and he loves it. Parents shouldn't be scared off by the teen rating, just turn off the music and you'll be fine.
This is also the best 2 player game I have ever played.
Not for PC!

The game is great, the graphics rock and when you make your own skater he or she looks very real. And you can make girl skaters, there ok and they some work, like they can be a little (a lot) hotter! And most of all it's not for PC if they make it for PC to well lets just say a lot more $$$$.
Absolutely perfect

Let me get this out of the way first: if you have owned or played the first two Tony Hawk games and enjoyed them, you should buy this game right now. In fact, you should already have it.
This game has kept me entertained for months. Not only is the replay value insanely high, but there's the fact that ripping out tricks like a Jedi master just looks cool. There are so many additions to the game that there's almost no possible way for them to improve on it for the next game, if there is one.
The revert is the coolest thing they could have added to this game. I normally go for street skating, but the revert is still indispensable because it allows for seemless transition from a pipe into a manual. From the manual, you can do almost anything. The Flatland tricks, while mostly just flashy, can be used ad infinitum with combos.
The lineup for the game hasn't changed that much, save for the addition of Bam Margera (from Jackass). He's actually one of the better skaters in the game. The Create a Skater is still awesome, with the added feature of female skins.
The bottom line for this review is that there is no false hype concerning this game. If you're new to the series, give this game a shot. If you're a veteran, then you shouldn't be reading this. You should be playing this amazing game.
Awesome!

Tony Hawk 3 was the primary reason I chose to buy a PS2 instead of an Xbox and what a great reason indeed! Having been a huge fan of the first two games in the series on the dreamcast I knew coming into this to expect great controls, and I was not letdown. The controls are fluid and easy to learn and are so dead on that the THPS series is still years ahead of all other skateboarding games on the market in terms of control and fun. If you have never played before they have even included tutorials this time around to show you the different tricks and combos you can pull off, which is a huge plus. For those who have played before you can jump right into things and have a blast from the get go.
Since this version is on the PS2 which is a far superior piece of hardware to the dreamcast, I expected the graphics to be improved and they were not only improved, but vastly improved. Textures look more realistic, the skaters look more lifelike, and the environments you are in have a much more realistic look to them. The framerate has been vastly improved as well and the game feels much faster paced than the earlier games in the series, making the experience as a whole more exhilirating and fun. Sound is about the same as prior versions, but with a wider selection of tracks, mostly being punk and hip hop. Any game that has del the funkee homosapien on the soundtrack gets a thumbs up from me in the sound and music area.
There are 8 levels in all, ranging from suburban neighborhoods to foreign lands and everything else you can think of. They have taken the best aspects of the first two games and combined them with tons of goals for every mission such as high scores, finding the hidden tape, finding all the letters to spell skate, etc. Skater selection is nice and varied and I really appreciate the addition of bam margera this time around, playing as one of the guys from the tv show jackass is a blast. If you find the secret codes, you can also unlock wild characters like spiderman and wolverine which makes things all the more fun. All in all I highly reccomend this game to anyone with a ps2 as it is tons of fun, and the 2 player options keep it fresh long after you have beaten it alone.
thps3 aint all that

To those who say this is more of the same: you're right.
Is this a bad thing? No, its not in theory. However, THPS3 fails in a few departments for me. After playing for 20+ hours and getting every deck, stat point, goal with every single character including secret ones, I can't help but feel THPS2 was just more fun. The levels in the game seem like they were set up just to generate points. I remember playing the School level on THPS2, and I could play that level for hours without getting bored. There was just an addictive simplicity to it all. The board flipping animations in the second installment just seemed better. I enjoyed the addition of the revert, and the speed is welcome, but it tends to distract you from watching your guy skate. Everytime I grind a rail, my eyes immediately dart up to the balance meter rather than watching my guy and balancing him that way. I really have no desire to go back and freeskate the levels except for the airport level, which is just great. This is probably beacause it reminds of levels in THPS2. There was always a sense of realism in the Tony Hawk series. Of course there were some parts of the earlier games that were totally unrealistic, but they still kept some integrity to the skating (like skating a school with tables and rails, fun stuff). It was fun to imagine yourself doing it in real life, and making it stylish at the same time. I just do not get that feeling in Tony Hawk 3. The game is good, don't get me wrong. Graphically superior in many ways. If getting 5 million points or a ton more seems fun to you, by all means get the game. But as far as pure fun goes, make mine THPS2.
Really awsome man !!!!

THPS 3 is a great game with many cool tricks such as a handstand, but Tony Hawk 2 had better levels, this has a cruise ship,an airport,Los Angeles, and 3 levels from THPS 1 whitch are cool in all but not alot of room like in THPS 2.Then again who cares about the park,it's about the music ,and the sweet tricks,so rock on.Oh it might take 2 weeks or more,or like me,it took 6 days!!!! I even ordered 4-14 days.So a great game and a great seller, thanks David Metzel.
TonY HawK 3 The best game ever!!!!!

I have played Tony Halk 3 and it is reLLY GOOD. The graphics are excelent and so is the gameplay!! This snazzy skater is not only a skater game but a first person shooter and a RPG. In the First person shooter mode you ride on you board and shoot and lions and tigers and cantalopes. In the rpg mode you go along in a story mode with you play the role of tony hawk and his bigger adventure yet I frogot to mention how good looking the graphics of the lions are they look life like. When you are doing tricks you can put in a code witch i won't tell you and you turn into a bird and takes you to a whole new flight simulation game!! over all tony hawk 3 is a very good game and you should buy it!!
