Sweet A must own Game.

I know that this gmae wont come out until next year but I got a chance to play it while I was in Scotland at the Interantional Games Festival. The game is sweet and the selection of guns is amazing. I got back to America hoping to be able to buy this game and was really hurt when I found out that it wasn't goign to be released until 2005!!! I will be buying this game and You should too. BTW...The Multiplayer is the best FPS multiplayer I have played to date.

Let's start with the things I liked:
The run down look of the environment, Smart A.I., nice textures and I especially love the PDF map. The appearance of the Human NPC's gives them a G.I. Joe kind of look.

Not good:
Even after version .0004 it's brutal on your system specs but should run much better on newer mid to high end gaming machine. I was running it on a Pentium 2.4GHz with 1Gb ddr3200 with an x1300 xge AGP card. It stuttered and froze up George Bush at a Kanye West Concert. It was not open ended it was scripted and linear.

The unforgivable: No Vehicles?!? Five years in the making should equal at least a skateboard.
Way too political. From the Enemy Factions to the Military it felt like I was playing Red Dawn the video game with mutants. What happened to the Stalking? I bought the game for stalking not Call of Duty type action.

I had to go on the internet to find out why the game kept giving me a German error code after I tried to start it for the first time.
Mine is a relatively old system but I should have never had to boost my Virtual memory to 2gig for the thing to even start.

Uninstalled it, chucked it in the closet.

Not for me.

Guess I'm just used to better graphics of a FPS but the graphics are not good at all. To be honest, I only played the game for an hour or so and couldn't get the hang of the controls and mission. Some folks may like it but I'll stick with PREY, Half-life, and the like.

The Good.
1. The premise was pretty good.
2. Enemy AI is ok, but not as good as Halflife 2 or Farcry.
3. The Hungry/Bleeding/Tired thing was pretty innovative.

The Bad.
1. Very difficult.
2. Processer Hog even with setting turned down.
3. Load times take forever.

Overall, worth a buy from the bargain bin.

When a product like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. gets as much hype as it did I start to wonder if it's that good or a real loser? It's not a bad game but it's not near as good as all the advertising led everyone to believe. This is my personal opinion I know there are those out there who love this game, good for you I'm just not one of them.

Nice looking game but the pacing at the beginning is painfully slow. Eventually it's worth the wait, but I'm not sure I would always be able to stick with it until the pace picked up. Just had a lot of free time that particular weekend.

For a FPS, its definitely middle of the road. I set it aside after several days of play and had forgot about it until recently. Just not a very exciting game.

This game its terrible(to me)I was looking for a shooter lots of actions and graphics but I'm very disappointed. The plot its weak and the mission based tactic its very boring.

Stalker

I've waited for a long time for this game, and I was really dissapointed once I played it. The previews were totally wrong. You can't even drive any vehicles in the game. Also, you can't rest, and it's sometime annoying to run around in the darkness, while you would normally sleep. This especially bugged me because everyone was talking how realistic this game is. You HAVE to eat, but you CANT sleep, it totally ruins the realism element. There are many small issues of this kind in Stalker.
Nevertheless, it was promised that you will be able to join many factions such as Dolg, Svoboda, Military and even scientists. In fact, you can't join Any faction in this game! I heard of some mods that will allow you to do so, but I prefer not to install any. Many of them cause additional issues, such as changing your version of the game so you can't join any online play.
The story ir pretty linear, you have some choice at the end, but I didn't see how ending depends on your actions. With the save game at the last location, I was able to finish with 3 different endings. It was promised that your actions from the very beginning will affect the outcome, but this is not true.
The multiplayer is very typical and boring.
Over all, this game is worth playing, but it is far from being as good as was expected. Once finishing the game, I don't think I will return to it any time soon.

Trojan included on the install disc?

I got this game as a gift from my girlfriend, and it is the first game installed on the INCREDIBLE rig I just set up yesterday. Windows Vista pops up and warns me I am installing a Trojan agent directly from the dvd executable file. What the hell? Now I'm afraid to run it. I mean... what the hell?
