I purchased this GBA game and love it! If you have liked Symphony of the Night then I encourage you to purchase this game. The control and gameplay is excellent. The sound could be a bit better but what can you expect on GBA? Speaking of which, I really think the GBA is like a portable Super Nintendo so expect good games and nothing less. COTM is a great action game that incorporates rpg elements like armor and the dss cards. Playing this on the go is so much fun. It has long gameplay and is also fun for just a few minutes. Konami has done an excellent job once again!
pretty good game

This game is really good!!!!!!!!!! The magic system is pretty cool and the graphics are good. The storyline is pretty vague though. Most of your time will be spent fighting monsters and trying to get to the next part of the castle. The only reason why I gave this game a four instead of a five is because it is a really dark game and at some times it is hard to see, also you WILL get lost alot and wander around for awhile. But overall it is a very good game!!!!!!!!!
It's not Symphony, but its almost just as good

Two things I hate with the Castlevania series, its refusal to allow a multi-directional whip (like they did in part 4) and when you have a lead character that does not have the last name of Belmont or Tepes (Alucard). Usually when you have a whip tottin' character without the Belmont name the game is bound to not live up to CV expectations, but then again the Castlevania series needs to be revitalized, and desperately. The gameplay has gotten stale over the years, and thier venture into 3D didn't work so well, not because it can't be done, just because it could have been a lot better. Symphony of the Night for Playstation was that revolution, and I got it late because I had my N64 well before I bought a PS1 and so I didn't find out about SOTN until much later. The formula combines the traditional CV atmosphere with gameplay elements of Super Metroid, and it worked beautifully. The same can almost be said of Circle of the moon, but COTM is not without its flaws.
I had hoped that the tunes would be better, don't get me wrong they're great, but I was expecting more and was dissapointed when I booted the game up only to hear midi music. I got spoiled by the orchistrated soundtrack of SOTN, and I realize there are probably some technical limitations here to consider. I had also hoped that there would be voice acting. I know that GBA isn't exactly loud, but come on!
The real problem is that the Super Metroid style Castlevania could get old fast. Its not that this isn't a good game, its great, but I'm worried that this will become a stagnate formula to these games. Konami needs to bring Castlevania back into the 3D realm, but do it right this time, it can be done. This game isn't the game revolution that its predassessor was, but it is still a lot of fun. Now that the price has been slashed if you haven't picked this one up yet do it. Lets just hope that Konami realizes that revolution is necissary to keep the games selling. This gameplay style could get stagnate. It isn't yet, but I think they could only get away with this gameplay style one more time before they need to completely revamp the style.

This is the best Castlevania ever created. Once again it's the same lets go kill Dracula storyline, but the levels are fun and original. This game is huge! The castle is devided up into about 12 areas, a few of which are quite small but the other 10 are huge and unique. The areas go all over the castle from the catacomb to the abyss stairway, from the machine tower to the underground warehouse. Each area is chunked full of monsters, there are so many monsters, brand new ones appear in each area. The game is really fun and has pretty high replay value. It may not be 3D but the graphics are full of detail and animated with no graphic slow down, even with a pack of ectoplasmims chasing you down. Sometimes when you defeat a monster you'll recieve items and DSS cards which you can combine with other ones to created over 70 different spell effects ranging from flame whips to ice sheilds and summoning golems. Overall this game rocks. And for reading this review here's a reward. A code: after beating the game in the credits you'll get a code FIREBALL, start a new file under the name FIREBALL and you'll start the game with every DSS card!

This game is the best Castlevania I ever played, it has great sound, good storyline and it has a good difficulty. Also it has some elemnets that will keep you playing until you finish it, such as the adition of DSS cards, that will give you especial abilities, such as diiferent whip types, and improvements in your stats. Especially for hardcore gamers, getting all DSS cards, and keeping Nathan, the protagonist in a good level, like in RPG games, makes this a must buy for the Game Boy Advance. If you are looking for a good, long, and difficult game, this is your option, or if you want a game for using your new Game Boy, this is the ONE.

No, really, this game is ... near flawless. It excels where the playstation falls short, namely the loading hallways. It really didn't bother me when I played through Symphony of the Night, all 5 or 6 times. That has changed. The seamless flow from room to room, The "DSS" card combination system, the graphics, but most importantly, the MUSIC IS OUTSTANDING. Castlevania: Circle of the Moon maintains the tradition we've come to enjoy and expect from Konami. This game a MUST BUY. I've got 14 hours logged already, and I can't wait to beat the game so I can try the magician, thief, and gladius codes. PERFECT GBA LAUNCH TITLE. Stop reading this and buy yours now.
