AWFUL!

What a dissapointment! Thank god i only rented this game and never bought it. I played it for 15 minutes and shut it off it was so bad. The graphics are cool but the gameplay is horrible. It reminds me of the old Sega CD games where there was very little control of the game just graphics only. Save your money for ESPN Baseball Tonite coming out soon it has to be better than this garbage!

The best baseball game ever!

this game blows away the competition. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is so much fun and smooth. This trully is one of the best sports titles that the dreamcast has come out with. This is up there with nfl 2k, but the graphics just are mind blowing. This game is a MUST BUY!

A major league let down

If you want the best baseball graphics around then I suggest buying this game. But if you are like me and you like the controls of the game then you will be let down by this game Sure the pitching and the batting are so realistic you will think you are actually there pitching and hitting, But sega left out a key part in any good baseball game... THE FIELDING.... You are unable to control the fielders meaning that if you want AROD to make a diving play you cant, the computer does it for you. You cant even have griffey rob someone of a homerun. The only thing you can do is throw the ball to one of the four bases. In my opinion this game is a let down, all good gamers know that fielding is an important aspect of baseball, so I guess I will have to wait for ESPN Baseball Tonight

WSB2k1 Another BIG hit!

This game defines BASEBALL. WSB2k1 has graphics as if you were in the stadium itself. The game shows the power of the dreamcast and WSB2k1 is a game that you need to atleast rent if not purchase. If you get it u will see what i mean but if you dont then your missing a once in a life time. Just Get it WSB2k1! ...

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!

After well over 2 days playing this game, I must say that this game is an abomination to video games. If I was Sega, I would be embarrassed to put this game out. I call for the jobs of the developers Dave Perkinson, Ed Brady, and Kenny Robinson for the biggest waste of 50 bucks in the history of the civilized world. Did they even try to play this game before they released it? This game has more flaws than than I could possibly begin to count. NICE ... CONTROL OF THE BASERUNNERS, GUYS! BANG UP JOB. If I get tripled up on a pop up one more time, I will put my foot through the television. And what's with not letting me play defense...IT'S HALF OF THE GAME! I've felt more involved in games I watched in person! I have had it with Sega! They keep putting out these [shoddy] sports games that constantly screw up (but with great graphics so you THINK they're great.) Besides NFL 2K, all the sports games have been a total wash. This will be my last purchase of anything with the Sega name. If you're smart, wait til the PS2 comes out later this year so that we can play some games that are actually tested and run smooth! Boooo, Sega! You've suckered me with your great graphics for the last time! I hope to see you right next to Atari in video hell.

Strike 3! send it back to the dug out.

okay i heard all the bad things about the game. but i thought nah it cant really be that bad, people are just expecting too much. well i was wrong, the game is that bad. and i tried so very very hard to like it. i love sports games and was addicted to nfl2k religiously, so when i heard sega was doing a baseball game i was waiting desperatly for it.

unfortunatly it doesn't come close to even triple play 99. the graphics are at times very very good, but they have a tendency to repeat the same things all the time. the pitcher does the same thing on the mound every time.

the biggest problem is gameplay, it doesnt really have any. when you look at other baseball games out there on other systems this is sad. dreamcast has something to prove to both the people who have bought it and to psx addicts. that we havn't made a mistake in buying and supporting the system. but with a title as bad as this it doesn't help the cause.

the commentary is the flatest, dullest most braindead there is. the difference in quality between nfl2k and ws2k1 is huge. nfl2k is a very cool game and nfl2k1 looks even better. if this game had been to its standard we would have had something to really write about.

now my hope goes to espn baseball early next year.

Dreamcast is worth buying just for this game!

This game is so awesome! It has the best graphics I have ever seen in a video game before! Every player looks so life-like, and the stadiums are to die for! There are also very-updated rosters, they even have the all-star game rosters from 2 weeks ago! This game is the best game ever, and dreamcast is worth it just for this game!

Biggest Disappointment of the year

Sure the graphics are great, but that is where it all ends. I don't think there is anyone more disappointed than me about this game. I was counting the days to play it, to only find out how much of a stinker this one is. The gameplay for World Series Baseball 2K1 is awful, the controls aren't sensible(and you can change them if you wanted to).The biggest problem in this game is that THE COMPUTER AUTOMATICALLY FIELDS THE BALL FOR YOU ! Where is the fun in that ? You can't even turn that option off. There is a lack of batting camara angles, and the menus for creating players isn't fluid, I can go on and on. Just heed my warning, THIS GAME STINKS.

Its not what its supposed to be!

The game doesnt have player injuries like was mentioned in so many game details and that is just one of the things its missing that was advertised-Homerun derby, weather problems(delays), Hot and Cold zones of a batter versus a pitcher, the so-called 32 possible pitches per pitcher, and there are less camera angles than a Genisis baseball game. This game was simply rushed out to the market to beat ESPN baseball tonight. If they had just included the above things like was suppsed to included this game would have been fine.... Instead it is just a baseball game with great graphics. I am hoping baseball tonight will improve or I will play EA sports version on PS2 next summer.

Give it a chance and it gets better

People aren't giving this game a chance - putting in a review after 1-3 days is not time enough. You need 30-40 games in before hitting is easier. And it can be adjusted easier by setting to amateur (easiest of 4 settings) AND by adjusting the handicap feature to full 100% for your team. Makes hitting a lot easier over time. I actually defeated the CPU 3 of 6 times and games are a lot closer. Over time, you can adjust back to normal. Don't mind crowd - who cares - you need to concentrate on batting (need to move with pitch then swing). Only negatives are lack of bunting and no errors (yet). The fielding is tough enough just throwing to correct base, however I've played mostly all baseball games and you barely do 1/2 a second of fielding anyway. You can move runners back by hitting "B" while ball is in air and returning to base - I rarely get picked off now except on line drives. Face it, hitting is tough in real life as it is mostly a guessing game. That makes this game very realistic in my opinion. Who wants to beat the CPU 99% of the time? - finally a challenging game. If you want stats, play a short 13 game season and you get massive stats. Best bet is to practice exhibition until you can get close (adjust handicap feature), then go for season play. Graphics are the best as advertised. No bunting is a crock. Four stars from someone who has played hundreds of games from various systems since Atari 2600. -1 for average commentary and lack of errors. Don't forget, it takes 20-30 games before your hitting improves. you'll get blown out a lot at first, but keep plugging away against the wimpy teams and soon you can compete. And those repetitive replays can be turned off also. I for one like the slow mo on close plays - you can see how close the play was.
