This game would've been 10 stars if u were able to control the feilding. Regardless it is still the best baseball game ever and is really fun!

Great graphics, but......

I'm a diehard baseball fan, so you can imagine my excitement when I pre-ordered WSB 2K1 from my local video store and popped it in the DC. First impressions were fantastic, from the accurate stadiums to the player's faces and animation. However, I've got to agree with the negative reviews I've been reading lately. Pitching is OK, since you can (sort of) control where the ball goes, but since the analog pad is used, there's really no consistency to "painting the corner." Batting is more difficult than anything I've ever seen. Want McGwire to go deep? Good luck. First, you have to hold the right trigger in, then move the batting target to the *exact* right place with the analog pad (while the pitch is headed toward you), then you have to release the trigger to *start* the swing and wait for Big Mac's long, slow, back swing to catch up to the ball. Believe me, I strike out more than the Florida Marlins with this game. Other than that, the fielding is automatic, and the AI makes lots of mistakes, which is frustrating when you can't control the guys. Finally, the progammers don't appear to know anything about the infield fly rule. The runners always take off when there's a pop-up, only to be doubled up by whoever ends up catching the ball. A double play on every pop-up? Give me a break.

Bottom line? I hate to say this after plunking down my $49.95, but this game will not satisfy the hard-core baseball fans out there. Probably a rental.

This game was relly disapointing, it's not even basebal it's jsut bat practice the graphics and the realism is really good but once you play it's no fun, i recommend another sport i hope 2k2 is goin to be better, and you can't even skip to the game you have to wait until the anthem is over

Good graphics, no variety in options, bad camera settings

This game has good graphics, but bad options. Where is theHome Run Derby and how about a practice mode. It is very hard to hitthe ball and a practice mode or home run derby would have helped. Also the camera options are terrible and there is no option for manual fielding. How about a practice mode, that would have made it nice, but who wants to play a game and practice during the actual game. It is nearyly impossible to hit the ball. It would be nice to have the option to manual field the ball. Sega better listen up, what with all the new game platforms coming out, with this latest baseball game, do they think we will just buy the game and be ok with it. I am returning my game to the store I bought it from and getting store credit. Next time I will wait and see what the reviews have to say. This game is a rent at best. I know this is a first generation game for the platform, but come on, even the Playstation and Nintendo first generation baseball games had those options. It seems that the game platform companies think that everyone is made on money, so that they can sell these options in next years offering of the game. Well, we don't and we deserve better for our $49.99. Save your money and buy a great game for the Dreamcast...Virtua Tennis...

Great graphics, but where's the fun?

At first sight the game looks fantastic. However, upon playing it, it gets more boring with every inning. First of all, you don't have any control over your defensive players aside from positioning them before the pitch. Once the ball is in play, all fielding is automatic. You only select the base to throw to once the ball is fielded. Secondly, many of the throws are entirely unrealistic. Pitchers backhand a ball and then jumping, firing a laser to first while in mid air on a slow roller back to the mound? Hitting is equally ridiculous. You need to hold the R button, position the circle where you think the ball will be, and release when you want to swing. Most of the time your either early or late. And how about a home run derby, or batting practice. This game has none of it. The sound is poor at best. The graphics are good, except for the lollypop throws the outfielders make to the infield. Your trying to tell me Griffy Jr. can't throw a pea to second from mid-center? If you buy a game for looks, buy this. If you want to play the game, wait for something better to come along.

It Really isnt that bad!

WSB2k1 is a good game it has the most unblievable graphics you will ever find in a game and batting is better than any other baseball game in my opinion and ive played many of them. If you like to field then you will be dissopionted with this game but other than that this is a 5 star game. All players look totally real exept for about 5% of the players look a little goofy takes up 120 on vmu not to bad compared to other sega sports games. If it wasnt for the feilding i would have given this game 5 stars.

THIS IS AN AUSOME GAME

Well baseball fans, WSB 2K1 is finally here for the dreamcast, and those of you who had hoped it would be like the former titles on saturn and genesis will be thoroughly disappointed. The major problem lies in the fact that you cannot control your fielders. What were you thinking Sega? Other gripes about the game are that the crowd looks like something you'd see on a 64 or 32 bit system, and the play by play disappoints those who enjoyed the commentary in the previous 2K games. However, this game turns out to have some positive aspects as well, with its amazing graphics, real batting stances, and well designed batter/pitcher interface. Bottom line, rent this one before you buy it. This will be the only baseball title coming out for the dreamcast this season, so if you're desperate for a baseball game like I was, you'll probably opt to get this one.

could have been...no wait should have been better

The graphics are the highlight of the game. The faces are very real and you can even see the creases in their shirts. A great step above the graphics of the psand n64, but of course now there is the ps2, x box and game cube. Graphics get an A+. This game has the beginings of a great game, but when played it seems like they stopped trying. past the graphics there isn't much else. Like the other reviews said there is no fielding. I don't understand that part, i mean there is no way to get an error unless of course the computer makes a mistake for you. No replay, pitchers don't have to warm up(not that bad a trait for some people) no numbered player ratings, they have ratings but they are vague(little green bars behind words) and you can trade anyone for anyone. I also was frustrated with the seasons, for those who really get into the seasons like I do, I was upset that you have to save then go completely out to the main screen and into the customizing screen to change your line ups or trade players. Once you get the hang of things it does become quite an entertaining game though. Like the others I say rent it before you buy it.

One of the best baseball games

The teams are outdated and the reporter doesnt really sound like he cares.Besides that the graphics are really good. You can create a player and play a season with him and they keep track of his stats. They dont have any real good rookies. Some of the players are better than they say they are and others are to good
