Sega "Serves up another one"

Tennis fan or non tennis fan, this game is really fun and anyone will love it. Its graphics and gameplay are phenomenal. Although the soundtrack really does'nt match up to the other features, the game is awesome in every way. If you have ever played this game than you know what I'm talking about. The game is so difficult that it actually takes you longer than two days to beat. For me it took about two months to beat. Once you start the World Circuit you get totally addicted. Almost every day you have to play it. The levels are extremely close to impossible, but eventually you beat them. Arcade mode is easy up until you play Master and King, and then its near impossible unless you know how to control yourself from diving and hit the ball in the right spot. The sequel will probably be better, but it could'nt be much better. The only faults there are in this game are the players. Not everyone knows who these guys are, but once you do, you'll want to watch them on t.v, and then one of them becomes your favorite besides the best known Pete Sampras who is not included. All of the players seem the same though. The only difference is between Master, King and every other guy. Basically this is the greatest tennis game ever made, and arguably the greatest sports game ever too. So if you are up to it, grab a really comfortable chair, a gallon of caffeinated soda and some pills to calm yourself down, because it will take a while to beat this thing.

Danny Godwin can not beat me in this Game!

This game is great. I never thought I would have so much fun playing a tennis video game. My friend Danny Godwin gets so angry when we play because I beat him every time. Man, he gets irritated when he loses at anything. I'm so good at this game now that the computer is my only challenge on the hardest setting. Danny says that I use secret button presses to pull off my expert moves and serves but this is not true. My serve is deadly and I pick any corner of the court and hit it with deadly accuracy. He also accuses me of being a practicer. DUH! Hello, how do you get better at anything, practice.

First of all I would like to say that I have always been a huge star of tennis games. My first expectations when I was buying this game was that it would not be to good because it was the first tennis game out for dreamcast. I got home and put this game in my dreamcast and I have to say I was amazed at how realistic this game really was. First of all, when you play on a clay court the ball actually leaves it marks on the court that you can see. The graphics are definitely a 10. These are probably the best graphics I've seen on a dreamcast game yet. This game also has many characters to choose from once you beat it. This game is definitely a best seller. Go and get it now!

This game is one word, WOW! I cannot believe the detail on the faces and even you can see their teeth. The stadiums are amazing and look like the actual ones. The crowd is amazing too. The gameplay is great, players actually make grunts and such and actually walk in with their raquets. This as real as tennis will get. In doubles the players talk to each other. The modes are exhibition, where you can play singles or doubles and use up to 4 players. Arcade mode you go through a mini tournament and the players get tougher as you go on. Then the beauty of the game is the World Circuit Mode where you can go to famous tournaments like wimbledon, us. open, etc. and win big buck on the way. You can buy stuff with your money such as sports drinks, strings, raquets, and even more players, stadiums, and outfits. This is the best tennis game ever, and two words... BUY IT!

Another Classic!

Wow! Sega has done it again. This game surpasses any tennis game for a console. The graphics, gameplay, and controls are incredible. You will be amazed how addicting this game can be. The world circuit mode is incredible. This mode includes shops where you can buy players, different styles of clothing, strings, and power ups. You can compete with other world players in both single and double matches while earning money. This game is why I bought a Dreamcast.

Also, good luck finding a copy, most stores sold out hours after the first shipment. Yes fans, this game is that good.

This is second sports game that ever came out to create such havoc in the arcades. People usually line up for fighting games, but not since Virtual Strikers has a sport game lead in the most popular game ranking in Japan. Graphics are detailed and realistic, a must for all sport fans. Did you all know that there are secret serves, and possibly players!

I'm a new Tennis fan and have to say that this game really helps out when I can't find my best friend to play real life tennis with. I can just sit down and play a game with the likes of Henman, and Courier. This tennis game offers everything that I wanted and Can't wait to have four friends over to play doubles.

This is the game to have for sport lovers

Out of all the sport games I have for the Dreamcast system, this has got to be the best. The graphics are the tighest and game play is butta. All the moves all the serves, backhands, forhands, slap shots, trickshots and much more. This game had me and four other friends up to 3am battling for bragging rights. NBA2k has to take a back seat to Virtua Tennis, but only until MLB2k1 is released at the end of this month. For tennis lovers and all around video game sport lovers like myself, this game is a must have. The price is right and well worth it.

Virtua Tennis has made me more interested in tennis than I ever imagined that I would be. Before playing the game I had little interest in the sport. The overall presentation, the high replay value, and the pros and cons of the game will be discussed in this review. The visuals are outstanding. The game moves fluidly, with a very short load time. Short loading time is one of the great things about most Dreamcast games, and I am very impressed and satisfied with my Dreamcast because of it. Virtua Tennis has a great user interface that quickly allows gamers to get started. The presentation is great; it keeps the user wanting more and more! Whenever I begin to play I find myself playing four or five matches at a time. The game is very easy to learn and understand, but it will take a very long time to master. I am very thankful for the doubles matches, since they allow for some great matches. If a user is new to the game, they can play doubles matches to boost their confidence. They allow for the user to see the tendencies of the AI (artificial intelligence), and will help elevate the users, game. With so many great things about Virtua Tennis, there were a few things that it lacks. As noted by many other gamers, Sega needs high profile players. There also needs to be a "create-a-player" feature. With me being African American, it would be nice to have African American players available. A women's division would be nice, because women's tennis is hot! When the next version is released next year, there needs to be a heavy emphasis placed on true "sports simulation". I want to see five set matches, with the rules of all the grand slams incorporated (i.e. no tiebreak in the fifth set at Wimbledon). After playing Virtua Tennis, I am very impressed with Sega Sports. I cannot wait for this game to arrive on SegaNet. The presentation is rock solid, and the game calls the users to keep playing. This is what a great game is made of. With all that said, I award this game 4.0 stars on a scale of five. The game is not perfect, but Sega has now set the standard for all tennis games to follow. If I give game five stars, like so many others, I am saying that this is as good as it gets. Sega produced a great game, but there is still a lot of work to do.

Solid fun, but still room for improvement.

Tennis isn't for everyone, at least not playing in real life. But technically speaking it is the grandfather of video games, after all isn't that basically what PONG was. Considering all the video games that have come out over the years it has amazed me how few of them were tennis and of those most were grabage, so I wasn't expecting too much from this title. Well I was wrong. The game has a very simple interface by today's standards, you only use two buttons and the control stick. I think perhaps that the simplistic control is what does make this such a great game, anyone can pick this is up and play reasonably well. While the game is much better against a live opponent, the computer players aren't horrible...if predictable and the extra "practice" games are fun, escpecially the bowling pins. The one real strike against the game is the lack of big name stars and real arenas. Sure the tennis players are in fact real people, but where is are Pete and Andre? And...where are the female players? Word is that sega is already working on a sequel hopefully they will address these flaws, but until then if you dont want to pick up a real racket and get out there then I recommend this virtual racket.
