An awesome game

There are a lot of great first person shooter games out there, but NOLF 2 is one of the best. The graphics are very good (9/10) and the storyline is great and you don't feel like you're getting lost and confused (10/10). The game is also "long enough," having 15 chapters that you can't just blow through in a few minutes. In fact, a few of the chapters are fairly long, which I find good in a game. The dialogues are also clear and rather funny at times (10/10). There are many weapons to choose from and some are even entertaining, like the laughing gas. It's also kind of fun to burn civilians with the welder just because it takes a few times for them to die. The blood is realistic but it is a little frustrating that the bodies disappear because there's just something nice abotu seeing a massacre. However, this game is funny to say the least so it doesn't take too much from the game. The sounds are good and the enemies' abilities to be alerted by noise is very realistic (10/10). I've played this game so many times that I can't even count anymore. It's definitely worth the money, even if it was $50.00.

No One Lives Forever fans are NOT going to be disappointed

Ok, bad stuff first.. there are some clipping issues (getting stuck in places that shouldn't be a problem), I've heard of some sound issues (all of which I have not experienced personally), and the multiplayer isn't nearly as robust as the previous game.

I have three computers here that I've run the demo on, and even though I have to reduce the resolution down to a pathetic 640x480x32Bit on the GeForce 2 MX machine, the game is still a big leap forward for the graphics of the series.

Now that I have my recently purchased copy, I have to say this game is beautiful. It's noticeably not as colorful as the first game, at least not thus far (I'm still in the siberia level), but the humor is intact and so is the fun. The first time I tripped a guy on a banana I had to pause the game (too funny). Then I tried to set the same trap again and I tripped on it myself, which was good for more laughs.

Level design is more complex than the first one, so if you're a fan, you'll find this game's nooks and crannies every bit as fun to discover as the first, if not better. There's a new multi-tiered level feature where you have multiple goals that you must achieve by advancing to another area, and then coming back to the previous area (which requires a load screen). It makes the levels feel just a teeny bit more complex than they are, but I find it adds to the mystery and I know I'm going to want to flush out those details again and again.

After playing the demo I was afraid that this game's soundtrack would be a bit too dark and brooding, but the end of the first level, combined with the opening music left me on a lighter note. It has sort of a James Bond feel where the game just starts and you play a level, and then you get the intro music/credits.

A few minor gripes that I have are: I liked the original Cate Archer's voice/model, Bruno's Voice and that director guy's voice (who we see only briefly in the beginning of the game, but you'll recognize his higher poly visage). One other perennial character's voice (who shall not be named) is the same, and I haven't seen the other, but I have my fingers crossed.

The new equipment system is tolerable, although the grouping of equipment hasn't greatly simplified getting through what usually turns out to be a somewhat lengthy inventory.

Stealth is highly stressed in this game. If you played through the previous game on easy and enjoyed the option of being able to survive running through it guns blazing wherever possible, this will be a slight shock to your system. Like the first game I found myself luring people to me to dispatch them. The ability to move the bodies (stretching the life of your body remover spray) is a nice add on.

I haven't finished the game, and I've heard of some perilous gaming ahead, but if what I've encountered so far is any indicator, I'm going to be THOROUGHLY enjoying it. I highly recommend this game to any first person shooter fan. It's not your run of the mill FPS, but then being billed as a game that `advanced the genre,' who wants it to be? I too was skeptical of the original game and I have managed to get most of my family and friends addicted to it. It's the most fun game/game series I've ever played on any system (console, PC or otherwise).

Graphics: Great.
Game play: Great.
Sound: Good.
Interface: Almost Perfect.

I'm really enjoying this game. If you liked the first, you'll love this one. This game excels at all the obvious attributes that make a game great, but the thing that really impresses me most about this game is its interface. I have never played a game that was as well designed as this one. It seems they thought of everything, except one minor annoyance - quickloads are not instantaneous. But the levels are huge so I guess there has to be a tradeoff.

Seqeal to the game of the year!

This game is great! It has some of the best graphics and the levels are huge! The singleplayer missions are fun and long. It will keep you playing for hours! The only thing that is CURRENTLY wrong with the game is that the multiplayer isn't the best but an upcoming patch will add more features to it and there is no editor out for it yet. But the developers say it will be out really soon! O yeah dont buy this game if you are a action only gamer, go get unreal tournement or something. Dont get me wrong this game has tons of action! But just like other spy games there is about 5 levels that dont have much action it. This game is a most own for anybody who has a pc!

Cate the Great!

Another great Cate adventure! This time around Cate Archer's voice is performed by Pam Grier ( or maybe ex-football great Rosie Grier?). Anyway, take the adventure where Cate foils mimes, eats liver, baths the elderly and even takes an SAT exam !! Not for the faint of heart !! Buy it BEAAATCH!!

Now that I have it working...it rocks!!!

I wish to retract my earlier review (seen below). I had a lot of trouble getting this to work ( I had to install an older cd rom drive without SecuROM security) but now that it works, it rocks! The online "team" play is a nice improvemet for multiplayer, and Sierra has added new maps and the ever-popular deathmatch from NOLF in their most recent update.

This game has more bugs and problems than any piece of software I have ever purchased. Go to the forum at Sierra.com or theglurfactory.com and the technical support posts outnumber the gameplay posts by a 3:1 margin. Sierra released this game before it was ready. Be sure to check you computers components throrughly before you purchase. I would reccomend waiting until Sierra releases a version that works!

I played for a while on Wiondows98 and the game was awesome. Multiplayer is far better than in the first game. I upgraded to WinXp and now the game won't even install, so until they figure out all of the tecnhical issues, I give this game 1 star.

Sequel Better Than Original

To begin, I must say that this installment does wonder off from
realistic story line and introduces an uber soldat for you to
battle. Besides this, the game is awesome.

Graphics: the detail is totally amazing, I can't even imagine
how many triabgles are used for the characters - they look so
good. However, to have the best performance a P4 2G + gForce 4
are recommended if you want the full detail - like the reflection
off the ice.

Gameplay: a myriad of new weaponry (some of which I found
useless - like the laughing gas grenade).

Enemies: you will face Soviets, Indians, HARM agents, and the
super soldier(Project Omega).

Overall - great game, ask for it for Christmas.

Simply Amazing!!

I loved every second of this game. The graphics are unprecedented in 1st person type games. This game rocks and there's even a lead in to a 3rd game!! I can't wait! I didn't know if a sequal could live up to the first game, but not only did it live up to it, it's bigger and better. It may seem short when you see that there are 15 missions, but there are at least 3-4 parts to each mission so actually it is nearly twice as long as the first game contrary to what one reviewer already said. I highly reccomend this game. It's well worth the full price.

I own Both NOLFs and I love them both

I love both versions. There are always aspects that you like or dislike in versions of games but there is always something given "back". NOLF2 has kept to the same story premise -- stop the H.A.R.M. destruction plan. The graphics are unbelieveable. The AI respond to what you do. You can peek around corners and hide and they get confused where you are. Amazing Jupiter software. The outcome is generally the same in order to go forward to the next level but how you get there is up to you by using your skills and how you want to play it.

In NOLF1, stealth gives you new insight on the AI's life and secrets (sneaking up behind them and overhearing their conversations) is where the humor really gets cracking. Not so much in NOLF2 but still some. In NOLF2, the AI are alerted and signal for backup. If you go stealthy, you can see what they do while waiting for you. That is when the humor kicks in. And yes, the tricyle level is funnnnnny and something I didn't expect but you can finish it. The levels tend to be more difficult than NOLF1 which is good for the NOLFers that have been playing it for some time.

In reply to the earlier complaint about online gaming? They must not know how to it set up right. As I play this game online many times a week with no problem whatsoever using DSL. Sometimes the servers have a problem, but that isn't the software. Too bad there aren't that many servers available and you have to host. If you do host, you must make sure you meet the medium to high end requirements for that. Have played online numerous times with some of the best people. The online aspect is geared for you to work as a team and everyone does. That is what is nice about online gaming. Team playing. Strategies.

In reply to "I want my NOLF3"? ME TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All in all -- I love this game. I have played both several times at different levels of difficulty. There are new editing tools for fans to create maps to play while nice to have, it can be little tough to figure out but hopefully the other fans won't give up!! NOLF1 fans has continued creating maps from the editing tools which is great and doesn't get boring.

BUY AND ENJOY THE GAME AND SEE YOU ONLINE!!!
