This is currently my favorite game (I bought the import). It's easy to learn, challenging to play, and a lot of fun, plus the awesome music and graphics. You skate around spray painting your tags on walls, while running away from the cops. Eventually they'll bring in tear gas, machine guns, and missiles in attempt to stop. Trust me, it's fun. What makes this game unique is that you can download jpegs off the internet and use them as your tags, or use the tag editor to create your own. Although somewhat quick to beat, it lasts a long time!

it might grind your fingers

This game brings something new on the graphics departament, they are awesome , 3D cartoon like characters. The cities are huge also, and you can interact with almost anything on it , which gives the game a great sense of reality. The concept of the game's as cool as the characters are but the gameplay has serious flaws. First of all it's the camera which is not auto (at least on the import version) and you must correct it on every turn so you don't crash with anything that delays you (a wall or corner) and you don't have a aerial panning when you have to jump to a narrow space (a beam, and there's a lot of them). Speaking of jumps, the game's phisics doesn't help you either, i recap, your timing must be perfect to land on narrow spaces specially when you are pressed by a time trial (must frustrating), and when you jump it fells as if you were on the matrix. To finish, the controls aren't too responsive, so if you are going to play, play on small time intervals, so your fingers wont suffer, specially your right trigger finger (believe me on this). But if what you are looking for is a game with a radical new concept this is your game.

I just picked up this import and have not quit playing it! This game finally lets you be the "thug" you've always dreamed about being. The game is presented beautifully, from the cartoon-ish graphics right down to the city's themselves. The breaks between stages are absolutely AMAZING! The animation is beautiful! I also love the option to create your own tags or download them via internet. But all in all, we can't forget the music. If this game had a soundtrack, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. The music goes along perfectly with the games atmosphere and frantic play. My only complaint on this game is (with almost every other game with it) is the camera. Hopefully this will be fixed for the American version. This game is THE reason to buy a dreamcast. I can safely say this game blows Crazy Taxi out of the water. If you have a DC, BUY THIS GAME!

This is one of the top games of the year. It is set in the future over in japan. you try to outrun the cops and rival gangs while you spray paint your logo all over town. You also get other people to join your crew by matching their moves, and if you succeed, the they will become members of your gang. The graphics in this game were reminiscient of the old Playstation game Parappa the Rappa, but the controls were much different. Imagine pressing buttons in tune with a beat, to controlling monster tricks that you can do anywhere! This is one of the great games of the year!

As original as it gets!

This is why I love SEGA! When they make games like this, it shows that they are thinking up NEW ideas and that they care about their fan base! This game is very, VERY FUN! It's so original. You select a character (and characters they are!) and head out to the streets of Tokyoto. You then have to skate around on seemingly endless stages tagging walls and avoiding the authorities! It is simply impossible to not enjoy this game! I found myself actually swinging to the music, too! It's a very fun and original game, and you shouldn't pass it up! Go on, give it a try! I know you'll love it!

If this game sucks, it's your fault, not the game's

TRUST me, the control and cameras in this game are perfect. You don't need perfect timing to land on narrow spaces either. Play this for an hour or two and anyone can master how to jump from railing to railing and grind down (or up) the streets. The graphics are awesome but once the game starts and you're busy trying to paint all over the city while evading cops, tanks, and helicopters, you don't have time to notice it really. Honestly though, I felt that the graphics could have used a little touch up here and there (for instance, the trees in this game look kinda crappy). Do not worry though, since this game boasts great gameplay and SOUND! Jet Set Radio actually deserves 96 out of 100 but since amazon only has a 5 star rating system, 96 rounds up to a 5 out of 5. blah blah blah... just play the game and you'll like it.

Jet Grind Radio is the opitomy of an original game. This game has great artwork and gameplay. Smilebit, the design team that created JGR, did what it thought people would like. They (Smilebit) say that "...we're not discouraged with the fact that JGR bombed in Japan, it's much more well suited for American gamers...". JGR is a inline skate/grafiti simulator -- the first ever! The skating part feels like a simplified version the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games, while the tagging (the actual grafity making process) feels like adance simulator because have to make the same motion as the on-screen arrow. Over all this game is a must-have for any Dreamcast user.

Very entertaining

When I first saw screen shots of Jet Grind Radio, the graphics impressed with its unique cartoon-like appearance. I purchased an import version of this game titled Jet SET Radio and was thoroughly satisfied with the quality of it. The idea of skating around a city and painting graffiti while evading cops, helicopter, and tanks sounds good. And fortunately it plays just as well. Tricks are easy to perform (since most are automatic) but fun nonetheless. Music is up-beat and very 'Japanese'. Althoug I haven't play the American version of this game, I hear from editors of videogaming magazines that the two versions are identical except the American version boasts more added features than the Japanese version.

On your marks... Jet Set... Radio!

Wow... Playing like a hybrid Crazy Taxi/RPG/Parappa the Rapper, this game is as addictive and original as they come. If ever there was a reason to buy a Dreamcast this (and Samba de Amigo!) is it.
