Jet Grind Radio is the opitomy of an original game. This game has great artwork and gameplay. Smilebit, the design team that created JGR, did what it thought people would like. They (Smilebit) say that "...we're not discouraged with the fact that JGR bombed in Japan, it's much more well suited for American gamers...". JGR is a inline skate/grafiti simulator -- the first ever! The skating part feels like a simplified version the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games, while the tagging (the actual grafity making process) feels like adance simulator because have to make the same motion as the on-screen arrow. Over all this game is a must-have for any Dreamcast user.

ok well for those of you who have played the game you can tell by my name that i love it! JSR is the best thing ever to happen to your DC (well PSO comes close)! if you like inline sk8ing or freestyle walking at all, or just enjoy the magnifacant art of grafiti this game is for you. with funky fresh beat (no pun intended) and other great characters this game is sure to hit it big in the states. it has all the right parts, grafix, sound, and most of all the voice acting isnt cheezy. the only complaint i have heard was that the visuals look too much like a 2D game (PSH stupid sk8e boarders), IMHO the effects look awsome! i am a big fan of Manga and american comics such as Transmetropolitan and death and this game looks like it coulda jumped of the pages in to 3D (well if those comics were about punks expressing themselves through vandalism). and most of all who could resist a game where you put grafiti on the chief of police's back! not me that is for sure... anyway long story short; JSR is a funky fresh baddass cool game worth the mony you will pay for it... the only complaint i have is the new name... Jet GRIND Radio? whats with that? well anyway im outta here now.

This game has such style and character that you haven't seen since the dawn of the original Nintendo. This is the most hip and fresh game that I have ever laid my eyes upon. Granted, Rob Zombie is not the best representative of "hip", but trust me...everything else is. The animation is simply amazing. Outlined 3D polygons on top of motion-captured characters...hugely detailed sets with an impressionistic style. One little glitch is that the viewing distance is not as long as you would like it to be...items can be just out of view, even if you can see the background just underneath it. And the camera angles can be a bit of a nuisance as I read in a preview long ago. If you get stuck in a corner, you can't really use the re-center tool effectively.
But make no mistake, the music and visuals leave an indelible impression on your mind that you will remember for a long time. The soundtrack includes the aforementioned Zombie, Jurassic 5, Mixmaster Mike and many many more tracks. And after the initial storyline, you can skate around the vast locations and race the CPU, make your own tags, etc. One thing I would love to see is a two or more player mode where you challenge each other to tags, or races. It'd be fun to even just skate around with your friends online and tag each other. Capture the flag, the possibilities are endless with the broadband adaptor. Till then, here's to the most original game in recent years. Great job Smilebit.

This game, I have to say, is the best game of the year. It's its own genre, it breaks out of all the previous molds that games adhered to and delivers a game worthy of your hard-earned money. The game has a great sound track, featuring Rob Zombie among others. And it is the music which this game revolves around. The underground radio station, Jet Set Radio, plays the bgm, which go's great with the game. The game itself is super fun, you run around the city tagging it up all the while grinding and doing simple, but cool tricks. What it all boils down to is that you NEED this game, so go get it.
OMG! Sega is dominating in terms of quality games.

Once again Sega has released another killer game for their Dreamcast system, and it's awesome as hell. The game is just so fun to play yet so simplistic. THe graphics are just...really, really nice looking. I mean, it looks like a really well-animated alternacartoon or something. The controls are tight, the gameplay is a blast, and even the music (mostly J-Pop, while the New York stage has a Rob Zombie track), is great. All I can say is that with games like these, Sega currently has the market at the moment when it comes to solid fun to play games. This game is one of the reasons to own a Dreamcast.

This is a great game. I first thought this game would be weird inline skating around painting grafiete around everywhere. The concept is pretty cool aculaly. When I first started, I was obsessed with the game. My friend and me have beat the game and it was fun. Now we are just trying to get a jet rating on all the levels to get all characters.
a sega masterpiece

This game is awesome. I'll admit that it's a bit easy to control, but the music, graphics and sound more than make up for it. Overall this is extremely good, but after chapter 1 in the story mode it gets a little bit tougher.
Why I bought a dreamcast instead of a PS2

(I'm really 14) Wow! I bought this game, took out of the package, and I played it for three days straight. I didn't even get through the first city yet! This game is fun for a few reasons: the tricks are automatic so you don't have to worry about punching in various button combinations to look cool (like Tony Hawk), you can create your own graffiti and see it painted up on walls in the game, and lastly, the game has the best graphics I have ever seen! (including PS2) a couple minor flaws: the camera is annoying, the game is very difficult, a couple of the japanese songs that play while you skate are annoying- but the rest are fresh.(you can listen to them in a radio mode!) Buy this game if you have the cash!!
One of the best Dreamcast games...ever.

First, I'll tell you the bad; the camera can be anoying and one or two songs in the game aren't great. That's about it. The rest of Jet Grind Radio is fantastic. First off, the graphics are like nothing ever. Using a new technique call cell-shading, the graphics in Jet Grind Radio look like a cartoon, from the characters to the buildings. They're amazing, even better than PS2(also, this game's creators say PS2 can't do this game's graphics because of its limited RAM; so take that PS2 fanboys!!) Also, the music is top notch. A mix of Japanese and American, the music is very appropriate for each level, and throughout each level, the songs change seamlessly like on a radio, making for a fresh change during each level. Also, the sounds are very good too, with people yelling at you and loudspeakers booming Japanese voices. Finally, the gameplay is top notch. The game feels very real, with cars in the streets, many people walking on the side walk, and advertisements and TV's flashing in the stores. The enviroments are great too; you'll skate through streets, subway tunnels, and on rooves. Of course, the object of the game is to do tricks and spray graffitti, and with tons of places to do tricks and creative spots for graffitti, you'll never get tired. Many people say that it gets old after a while, but althought the story mode is short, after beat it you can skate through all the levels again, trying to get high scores. Since it is hard to get a good rating, and since the levels are so fun, the game actually has tons of replay value, as you find new areas and pull off awesome tricks. Adding to all this are cool characters, a crazy end boss, and a very unique game menu, and you have a title that is dripping with cool and is very inventive. If you're looking for something that's fun as hell and looks great, this game will deliver!

This game is good. It has great graphics, and plays like Crazy Taxi. Nothing really bad, and an exceptional soundtrack. You get to run from cops, spray paint, and grind! As I said, it is a total blast! a must get that anyone over ten will understand. It's story isn't anything mind- blowing like final fantasy, or Zelda, but it is pretty good. The voice acting from Professor K is great, and the music goes right with the game. As I said, it is a must- get.
