The best game, I think to be released

I have downloaded the Demo for the PC of this game, and even though it's only two levels, it's so good that I played the Demo and beaten it over 20 times. However it's good for you. You can master more of the moves.

They add dual weapons which puts in more ability to your game play. You can slash someone til their health is low (you can tell), struggle with them, steal their weapon, then cut em in two. I really enjoy some of the new things they added to the game. I really want to slide down a curtain. (weee!)

Well another thing thats cool is using poles to fight. You can swing and slice the enemies. Also, with dual, you can throw your weapons. You can jump over their head, and toss it into their body. And if their health is low, their head will fly off. (or charging it works too)

The only suggestions that could make these game burst out of the 5 stars into a 6, is being a little smart with the dual blades.

You have one sword, and you steal from others to get two. But when you get a new sword, he just tosses the old one aside and grabs the new one. I think he should use the old blade in his left hand, as the new one is in his right. Both on his back, then enabling a third weapon (throwable one) on the belt like it is now.

Maybe adding the cloak too... I want to wear it and fight. But these are just some things I would like. But fighting the 20 foot dudes are fun... :)

Either the people below who gave it 1's and 2's didn't even play the game, or there is something seriously wrong with their brain chemistry. When the suprise hit Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time came out i was immediately hooked with its breathtaking visuals, mindboggling gameplay and combat system, and its fluid animations and character designs. When I heard that Prince of Persia 2 was coming later in the year, i was ecstatic. But scared as well. How could you improve on something that was without a doubt THE fighting-adventure game? By completely overhauling it of course.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within has the greatest combat system EVER. Entitled "Free-Form Fighting," every single thing you do can have a nearly infinite number of outcomes. You can take a human shield Splinter Cell style and then flip them head over heels off a cliff to their doom, steal their weapon and then run then through with it, chop off their heads (did i mention that more blood is spilled in this game than Jack the Ripper could spill in a whore-house?), slice them down the middle, and so many other things. The possibilities are endless.

Now for the story line. I like it. I like it a lot. So far as I know, several years have passed since Sands of Time. The Prince, now grisled and grim, is on the run from a physical incarnation of Fate called the Dahaka. The beast is chasing the Prince because he opened the Sands of Time, and anyone who does that is supposed to die. The Prince didn't die, so the Dahaka is out to finish the job. The Prince's only option is to travel to the Island of Time, the birthplace of the Sands. He must travel back in time to before the Sands were created by the Empress and stop it from happening. But, as everyone tells him, he cannot escape his fate, no matter what, he will die. Now you're probably making a double-take on the "travel back in time" bit. Although you do retain the ability to travel back a few seconds to undo a mistake or two, there are portals that can send you back or forth centuries. Anything you do in the past can have an impact in the future, making it possible to reach some place you couldn't before.

Last but not least (yeah, I know, but I'm almost done.) Prince of Persia is M-rated. Why? Blood, gore, and extremely scantily clad women. Seriously, like thirty seconds in you see a hot lady's bare [...]. And what's more, you get to fight her. What more could you ask for? Overall, Prince of Persia exceeds all expectations. From the visuals to the moveset to the women, you will dig this game all the way to the end (which I have yet to reach.) Ok, bye. I have to go beat the game now. Toodles!

An Outstanding Game.

First of all, I actually buy very few games. A game has to be a 5 star choice to me in order for me to buy it, which means not only will I enjoy it the first time, but I'll find myself playing it over and over again. That being said, this is one of those games. Don't believe all the people moaning about the "M" rating - they are either under 18 or have an unrealistic view of the maturing of the video game market. I played the first Prince of Persia, and although I thouroughly enjoyed it, I found it was somewhat lacking - namely, not enough fighting and a little too much puzzle solving. It also was just a little too cheerful looking for my taste. This game takes the things I loved about the first game, and improves on them. Much more fighting, as well as a more complex fighting mechanic. The tone of the whole game is also darker and more gloomy. And the graphics are much improved, and the cut scenes are fantastic. In other words its a game more geared toward an adult audience. I have enjoyed this game thoroughly so far, and add it to Onimusha 3, Final Fantasy X, LOTR:TTT and LOTR:ROTK as the only games I have purchased for my PS2 in recent history.

You won't want to stop!

This game is fantastic!I mean, you get to slash enemys in half, use stealth for a sneaky fight, you get to walk on walls, and much much more.I like how you can replenish your health by simply drinking a handful of water. The rewind button is cool, so if you snuff it, you can go a little ways back without restarting the whole level. There are so many sweet characteristics for this game, it's almost impossible to list them all. I wouldn't recommend this game game to young children though, with all the profanity and blood and stuff like that. I would have rated this game this game T for teen, if it didn't have all the stuff listed above. But overall, I think this game deserves five stars.

The prince once again makes his return in the fifth installment of the Prince Of Persia. This time the game features a much more complex storyline, leaving it quite thought provoking. The prince must journey & defeat fate to defy his preordained death. The game features alot more darker aspects in it than in the past POP games. The graphics are so mindblowing & crisp. The motion animation is absolutely unbelievable. This has been a game that I have been yearning for for quite some time now & i must say that it delivers on every level of excellance. Again the developers did not leave any detail left untouched, they submit so much attention to every detail, making the game more life like & appealing. The prince can do some gravity defying combat moves such as; run along the wall, jump up the ledges, sliding down banners & many more moves. Warrior Within includes a dual-wielding feature, which will allow the prince to execute special attack sequences. This game does feature an mature rating. If you loved Sands Of Time, then i highly recommend that you check out Warrior Within. PSM gave Warrior Within a 10 out of 10. I give it 2 thumbs up.

Despite all the bad things I've heard about this game I had to pick it up. People said the Prince is unresponsive, uncontrollable, and rude. Well, wouldn't you be rude if some kind of horrible beast was chasing you? I'm not going to bother writing the story here because tons of other submissions have it. The thing (well one of the things) I like the most is that this game has an ALTERNATE ENDING!! WOOHOO!!! All you have to do is find all nine life upgrades and get the new sword in the throne room and boom! There you have it. (Hint: For those of you who have seen it, the woman strapped to the piece of wood held by the mean-looking scary guys? It's FARAH!! Bring on Prince of Persia 3. Ciao!)

The first thing you notice is how much darker this title is; the Prince has gone from nimble acrobat to nimble acrobatic bad-ass fighting machine. He's found time to change his clothes. Out goes his princely flowing M.C. Hammer pants and in comes some leather fetish gear, he's sporting a scar and he must have started smoking or something because his voice has gone all Bryan Adams. His surroundings? Again suitably dark and this time accompanied by a heavy metal soundtrack.

Graphically, as you would expect, this title is very polished, the intro sequence sucks you straight in and you're thrown into the heart of a battle immediately - albeit without any of your time manipulating powers at this stage. This first battle is excellent and shows off the graphics a treat, as you're involved in a mass brawl on a boat that rises and tilts as you charge around it. Random fireballs crash down into the boxes around you, the rain pours relentlessly and the enemies come thick and fast, even when there's too many to mention on screen battling it out with your allies, there's not a hint of glitch or slowdown. It's breathtaking to watch. The gore level has been ramped right up and you get a lot more satisfaction from slicing your opponents to pieces this time. Even my girlfriend managed to sit there and watch it quietly without moaning at me to turn it off for a good five or ten minutes. Right until I got to the first boss, when something unexpected happened.

It's not long before you realise that rather than addressing the problem of game length by making this outing much bigger, they've just made it much, much, MUCH, harder. This is hard with a capital H.A.R.D. I played Ninja Gaiden, I clocked it, I damaged a controller (and my wall) by throwing it across the room but I still did it. [Ah yes, my controller almost left my hands so many times during that gem! Ed] This is tougher. I lost count of the amount of times I tried and retried to defeat even this first boss. I had to wuss out and start the game again on Easy eventually (after my girlfriend said "this is boring turn it off" ten times). So be warned, only the most competent and patient of gamers should give this a go and that's why it doesn't score quite as high as its accessible-to-all predecessor.

Once this bit's over, you're introduced to the game properly and as you progress at about just the correct pace, your time manipulating powers are given back to you. The basic premise of the storyline sees you going back in time to destroy the sands of time before they were ever created and all the while you're pursued by a spooky, mean guardian chasing you around everywhere. I liked the idea of this and the fact that early write-ups suggested you can go back, change something and when you Marty McFly it back to the future, things have changed also really interested me. This element was nowhere near as detailed as promised though and if anything just seemed like a way of forcing you to do each room repeatedly in different time periods, another cop out way of increasing the game length.

At the heart of the game, as before, are some excellently realised platform sections and even more fluid control of your character. No more having to remember to put your weapon away before you embark on some acrobatics - you're straight into the action. These sections of the game excel once again and are as good as everything offered in Sands of Time; it's just such a shame that there weren't more of them. With this being a meaner, moodier version of the original, you find yourself spending a lot more time brawling. Which other than the difficulty of the bosses and the fact that the acrobatic sections are so fresh and satisfying to complete, is no bad thing.

The fighting system has been given an overhaul in a big and impressive way. You can now wield and battle with two weapons, or throw one at an enemy if it takes your fancy. You can bounce off walls, swing around poles slicing multiple opponents, throw and jump on your enemies and of course drive a weapon through them while they lie stunned on the floor. The whole system feels more akin to an actual fighting game than an action platformer. Perhaps another bit of inspiration taken from Ninja Gaiden. The list of moves and combos you can play with seems endless, which is a good thing because you'll need them all. You can't win this game by button bashing - it takes practice and commitment.

This is complemented by your ability to play around with time again, rewinding it and slowing it down to give you an advantage or get you out of a sticky situation. As with the first game, this just feels natural to do, the way each command is mapped out to each button is excellent, I've never played a game where you have a character with such a diversity of moves at his disposal that controls so intuitively as Warrior Within.

If you loved the original but found it too easy, then give The Prince of Persia: Warrior Within a go, as it's sure to please. If you loved Ninja Gaiden you'll definitely like this. If you haven't played Sands Of Time before and are thinking of buying Warrior Within, you'd be well advised to give it a rent and see how you get on. I liked this a lot, I just though it was such a shame that there wasn't more game there (although the extra content should add a few hours). I hope that next time we see the Prince, it's in a massive, epic adventure where the acrobatics outweigh the fighting and the learning curve and difficulty level are more realistic. Either way, the quality of both titles so far is so excellent that it justifies, no demands, a third in the series!

this game really is awsome, if you have played sands of time you will be exited about playing the game before even touching the controller.....for those who havnt played sands then i recomend it, the story will make a lot more sense and much more enjoyable. there were parts of the game i thought could have been improved on....this came mainly in the form of some of the landscapes, the dungeons and the library inparticular.......they could be a little dull and annoying, especially if you die and have to repeat them!!! its a great game to play once its been back in its box for a few months....playing it a second time round you have a better understanding of the fighting control system.....combo's can be tricky but look great when pulled off nicely, also they are not really a necessity of the game so if you get frustrated easily by not being able to pull them off....then you can just beat the bad guys with a few simple attacks (repetative but effective). the bad guys are cool and the dahaka (a huge demon whos only mission is to hunt you throughout the game and kill you!!!) injects a shot of adrenaline whenever he apears and starts chaseing you. the soundtrack is good......when it comes to the look of the game, i dont think it can be compared to sands of time, its completely different (darker and meener), as much as i loved the look of sands, i think that if this looked the same then the beauty of the game would wear off....each game is best left looking individual from the next (or last)....and i have already reserved a copy of the third pop installment......cant wait!!!

Apparently no one has played the same Warrior Within game that I've played. Anyone who says this game is a bad one does not deserve to play video games or much less write reviews about them. The Prince of Persia series is an incredible trilogy with three extremely different games. Warrior Within is the second in the trilogy and the best of them all. This game is not for the faint of heart, it is very dark and morbid storyline and the gameplay is exactly the same. The Prince in this story is far different from the one in The Sands of Time. The Prince has been stalked and hunted for years by an immortal and terrible beast known as the Dahaka, and he has become a drained and callous man who has almost been broken by his own demons and by the curse that has plagued his every breath. This game is one of the best games I've ever played and I have played the best of the best. Don't listen to all these misguided reviews by these would be gamers, Warrior Within is amazing. The gameplay is incredible from the fighting to the wall running and problem solving. Another beautiful part of the game is the graphics. The landscapes in this game are truly gorgeous. As you progress through the game and climb higher into the castle you can look down below and actually see other parts of the castle that you have already visited earlier in the game, it's truly amazing. The chase sequences with the Dahaka are extremely intense and keep you white knuckled with the controller the entire time. The music, like the first game, is perfect. Godsmack's song, I Stand Alone, cranking through the speakers while you run for your life adds a very nice touch. But above all the story is what pushes this game beyond most all others. The fmv sequence with the Prince and the Old Man is probably the best and is my personal favorite, but all the fmv are quite impressive, involving, and extremely fun to watch. The whole idea behind the Prince being hunted by an unstoppable force and running from his destiny but also trying to change his doomed fate at the same time is pretty hardcore. I can't even explain how cool and just bada** this game is. The whole series is one of the best stories I've ever played, seen, or read, but Warrior Within is by far the most engageing, macabre, and epic of all the three. If you're looking for an unbelievably fun and adventurous game that is full of amazing gameplay, graphics, and whose story is probably one of the top ten of all time then this is a must buy for you. If Warrior Within sounds to dark and brutal for you then you should probably stick to the kiddie games made for children like final fantasy.
