Great game!

What I liked about the first Prince of Persia is figuring out how to get to the next room. Not only are your arcade skills are tested, your problem solving skills are put to use too.

All that is still retained in the sequel plus you have more dynamic fight sequences... (something arcade fans would like).

Only gripe here is that the Prince evolved into a dark character and not as appealing as the witty and wise-cracking Prince in the original. I missed that... too bad.

Better each time I play it

I thought this game was completely phenomenal. First of all, i started playing prince of persia when it was played in DOS and the prince consisted of like 10 pixels and even way back in the day when he wore and all white jump suit, before they doctored it to give him real clothes. When i heard that sands of time were coming out, i could hardly wait. This is EXACTLY the kind of games that i love to play and could play over and over and over again without ever getting tired of them.

When i finished sands of time, and it was an incredible game, i loved the story, the action, the graphics, the little attention to details like how sand fell from a wall when you ran on it. The movements of the prince were unlike any game i had ever seen... and unlike most critics i enjoyed his little "aladdin" image.
The first time that i played Warrior Within i have to say i longed for the storyline of the other game. I missed the love story, i missed having the constant comical and endearing dialogue between the prince and Farah and the hilarious rants that he would go on when left alone for a while.. I missed the voice overs that were there before... but the more i played the game, the more i loved it. The new moves are unsurpassed, the game was challenging enough to keep me trying things over and over again, actually i had to get my fiance to do a few of the Dahaka chaces because they made my heart beat way too fast with anxiety.
I can kind of see where the creators are going with the whole series... The first one was about the prince being a young charmer without much combat experience, eager to show off, arrogant, and yet somehow very endearing. The second one is about him being alone, hence the great choice of the main song by Godsmack, it's all about him fighting his deamons and selfish battles. It's that part of his journey, actually one of the cinematics that were cut from the game of him mourning his friend i believe was removed for that very reason. it wasn't about him and other people, it was about himself. now the next game, i believe, will be about him learning to deal with others. about putting other people ahead of himself, falling in love again. Once i could appreciate this game for what it was trying to do, i loved it.

The graphics are still incredible, even better than the first game, the music is still great, and yes the enemies are much harder but it proves to be a good challenge.

Overall, i think the game is fantastic and would recommend it to anyone as long as you're willing to embrace it as it's own thing, separate from the first game.

One of the best

When I first played Prince of Persia: Sands of Time -- I was struck by the amazing graphics and incredible story and music that made up this game.

I couldn't wait, therefore, to get the sequal.

Warrior Within is an amazing game. It has a rich storyline, amazing graphics, awesome cutscenes and overall, an enjoyable play.

What's great is that you can do more in this then you could do in Sands of Time. You can develop your own fighting style and have more "Time Powers" as I call it -- at your disposal.

However, I had only two, small problems with the game.

I thought that the music was a bad choice. The music in Sands of Time fit very well with the game in all ways. It was very middle-eastern and went well with the fighting. Listening to Creed or other bands when I play Prince of Persia, just doesn't do that for me.

The second part is that some parts are very, very difficult. I didn't like how there were bosses unlike in Sands of Time. You need to keep your eye open for small things like ladders hidden behind tree's and so on.

One of the best parts of the game is that there is a Secret Ending. An alternate ending actually. When you play the game as the Prince, you can seek out Upgrade Pedestal's which enhance your life by a minor amount every time. There are nine of these pedestals located throughout the game. They are sometimes difficult to fine and hard to get to -- but well worth it in the end. You can save someones life rather then killing them as it actually happens in the game.

All in all, this game is amazing. It has many excellent parts and you will enjoy it. When you finish the game, it is very rewarding. GO BUY IT!

WOW!

This is the 2nd Prince of Persia game I've played and, I must say, the better of the two! I first played The Sands of Time which was an excellent game. But this game simply blows it's predacessor away!
Being 38 years old and still enjoying video games poses one problem for me: Time. I don't have alot of time to sit down and play as much as I want so, call it cheating, but I use walkthroughs for detailed games like this. It in no way takes away from the intensity of this game. There's alot to do, alot to look for, and alot to see!
I don't generally pick apart a game when it comes to details but I will say this: If you enjoy a game with a great story, lots of action, plot twists and a killer soundtrack then you need to get this game! The graphics are fantastic and much better than Sands of Time and that includes all the cut scenes. And talk about there never being a dull moment! Using a walkthrough doesn't necessarily make the game any easier, either. There's plenty of enemies to fight and traps to avoid! Playing the game on a big screen TV with surround sound only hightens the experience. Especially during fight scenes! My only gripe is that if you're in an intense fight with some great background music and get killed, when you start again you normally don't get the great soundtrack again.
All in all, if you're a fan of great action games you need to pick this up!

The latest Prince of Persia (POP) is way more polsihed and fun. Combat and graphic have been improved greatly. For those of you unfamiliar with POP, it is basically and insanely fun platfrom/action game. You control "The Prince" who can run across and up walls, flip over enemys and other various acrobatic manouevers. Also you have the power to control time and reverse time if you miss an important jump. Or speed up time so you are much quicker than you enemies. These things add to the fun factor of the game by allowing Flexibilty in how you accomblish a challenge. The first POP was great at platforming that reqiured percsion platforming skills, however the combat was boring and repitive, In this one the platform is back a still great, and the combat is much improved with combos you can pull off. All around this game is one of the perfect platformers, it is unique and fun, and almost any gamer can pick it up and start cutting the heads off enemies, and running and flipping across walls.

PROS:
-Improved Graphics
-Imrpoved Combat System
-Great Acrobatic moves give flexibilty in combat and platforming
-High Replay Value with alternate ending
- Abilty to control times add a new elment to platforming/action games
-Unique, Addicting, Challenging

CONS
-Lowered difficulty from first POP
-Annoying to replay same parts of the same place more than once (when you
travel back in time)
-Not the most stunning graphics (although better than the first
- Lack of many enemy types

maybe not as good as the first

i like this game, although, it is darker than SOT (sands of time), not story wise, but, "somebody turn on the lights" wise. camera angles were kind of funky too. it is addicting and fun, but repetitive, that didn't really bother me. i set the game on easy and it was still difficult in some areas. prince of persia: warrior within is very entertaining and enjoyable to play. (i don't know if there is a big difference between easy and hard setting, game play on hard is probably beyond the beyond difficult). the game itself is deep and immersing, u will be playing this game hour after hour, u will lose track of time playing this title, in my book, a lengthy and compelling video game is good, very good.

the graghics are good, but, like i said, dark. the prince looks different than from SOT. he looks bigger and more masculine, he sounds different as well, that didn't bother me to much, but i did expect them to keep same flow as in the SOT story line and art theme. to me, it seems that another team of artists and writers were used to make this game. i have urges to keep playing this game, in saying that, it does have flaws, but it is a very good game, i still think they did a btter job on SOT

As good as the first, If not better.

I played the game "Prince of Persia the Sands of Time" into the floor. Over and over... Christmas, when I opened this game, after hearing so many good things about it, I was overjoyed when I played it. Those who have played POP1 will remember that you founght sand creatures, which are made of sand, so there was only blood when you got hurt. In POP2 you fight people and I think zombies, so theres blood all over, an improvment if you ask me. Also, if you played POP1, you will remember how repetative the fighting got, tapping B or (square) all day. This one there is a "free-form-fighting" system, or a system of combo moves. While as far as I have played it, I would NOT recommend this game to anyone who does not watch prime time TV or is under 13. The game has words you would hear on a prime time TV show (or daytime I guess). The fact that there is a half-naked women is... well half true. If you take half-naked to be someone without a top on, then there is no half naked women. If you take a half-naked women to be someone in something like a top and a thong, then there is a half-naked women. Over all, it feels like the first Prince of Perisa with a more mature twist. The prince has gotten more mature so the game should as well. This game I don't really think deserves the Mature rating, more of a "older than 13 but younger than 17" muturity level. This game is defiantally worth your fifty bucks.

BETTER THAN THE 1st!!

In PoP:WW it has a free-form-fighting mode this means u can do a lot. For example, if u jump over an enemy, there are over 6 different ways to kill or damage ur enemy (4 every action there's always an opportunity). Also, i have read many reviews on this game that say," it's good but has glitches" . I've haven't experienced any in my game, so those that say otherwise have something wrong with their system or it could be a malfunctioning game. If u played the 1st 1 u would have to do the same old moves again & again but in the 2nd u do the opposite.... 30+ moves are in this version. Great story line and graphics.

I made it to the very end and Ubisoft screwed me!

This is game is great I just restarted it about a month ago because my girlfriend's sister got me 2 throwns. I wasn't to excited to get back into it because it seemed to lose something for me since Sands of Time. But oddly enough this time around I really had a good time...that is until I got to the end...That's right you've heard of the dreaded game stopping glitches? Well one just hit me not 5 minutes ago. I am at the final battle and I have to restart from the beginning...21 hours down the drain, thanks a lot ubisoft!

The almost PERFECT game.

The overall game was very good. I liked the story-line, but the game itself could have been longer. On the downside, the game was too dark and the health upgrades were difficult to find without the help of a stategy guide. I did like the new acrobatics and fighting skills and I hope that the 3rd game is just as much fun and hopefully I will be able to see where I am going within the game. I would definitely recommend this game to someone else.
