More a Sequel to SOULREAVER than POP

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 1 / 3

This is a decent enough game for it is, but it's really a copy of the Legacy of Kain: Soulreaver series than it is a sequel to Prince of Persia- I think they have made a big mistake in going the Soulreaver route than extending what was so great about the first game- this game plays and looks just like Soulreaver with all it's faults, the tracking back over areas you have gone over- the "Time" hopping seems much like the "Spectral zone" of Soulreaver- the combat is like Soulreaver- there is even a Soulreaver type sword in it- the fun is not really here that was in the first game- they have made it dark and bloody and I found it boring instead of wanting to continue. The big castle seems more like the cathedrals in Soulreaver than it does what the Prince encountered in the first game- even some of the artwork seems the same- but Soulreaver is an old game- and could be a bit tedious, as this is- Even the "sand capturing" is like the "soul capturing" in Soulreaver.

If you like Soulreaver, you'll love this game. But this is not a real sequel to Prince of Persia- why in the world they did not take the time to make it more like the first game and then have this Soulreaver knock-off I think is so stupid, they could have had a real great franchise- the Prince was the new Lara Croft- but because this is so much like Soulreaver, I will not get the next one.

The greatest game I have ever played!

Wow Prince of Persia Warrior Within was by far the greatest game I have ever played in my life. It blew Sands of Time out of the water with the weaponry and combos. I would recomend this game to anyone and everyone who likes any kind of fighting video game.

Mature content isn't always good*; an informant review

When I completed the first Prince of Persia video game, I felt that I had acutally accomplished something rather challenging and fun, the gameplay and graphics in the first P.O.P. was indeed a sight to be hold with its share of flaws, the storyline was straight forward and didn't try to hide itself behind large words that have smaller rephrases if you catch my meaning. In other words: "The sands of time" Needed not a sequel because the ending felt as though it had completed the story in and of itself (see; Van Helsing).

I thought The first game was absoultely great, but the sales for the game were sadly, not what UBI-soft had hoped for; but they should've expected that, the USA is in the middle of a war with Iraq formerly known as "Persia", and the prince is indeed a Persian, there aren't many people who like Iraq (I'm not pointing fingers or being racial), most of the US population does not like Iraq or its people, because they believe their the cause of the war and possibly 9/11, in my opinion.

So when I heard there was going to be a sequel, I wasn't jumping for joy. The Gameplay is no major improvement, the prince still does most of his usual attacks and wall running although there were tweaks and new attacks/moves put in the game, the puzzles are tougher and your bound to get lost within the dark laybrinth of the island the prince is on, there are boss battles, and as far as a story goes, its mot much.

Ten years after the first game, the prince is on the run from his so-called fate because he was supposed to have died because he released the sands of time, so in order to save his life he embarks on a quest to destroy the sands of time before they are ever created, thus stopping his ever opening the hourglass that started the entire mess he's in. During this time, the prince meets two scantly dressed women in red and black, who either want to kill him or supposedly help him. The prince's new look and darker persona is anythiing but appealing, they don't even keep the same voice actor that used in the first Game.

"The Warrior Within" is basically a game spawned from Sales tatics: The violence, blood/gore, swearing and mild-nudity, and suggestive themes is simply UBI-Soft's tatical plan to draw "more" sales because the first one didn't have as much as they'd hoped, as I said before. Which is a sad thing in their case, because the Mature content in this sequel is a sign of despration. Now, I'm not complaining, I'm simply giving you my opinion. If you're going to buy The Warrior Within, then expect major changes and overkill in some of the content. [--- No rating]

This is just great potential wasted. The flaws lie in the outrageous difficulty (you try beating The Emperess), messed up controls (rolling the wrong way cos the camera moved, causing you a fatal accident) and the checkpints (you'll find yourself 40 mins back whenever you die, which is every few minutes). If you combine these the game does nothing but (...) constantly. There is absolutely nothing to enjoy here, because what is good is simply eclipsed by the hard nature and frustrating fights. The fight with The Emperess are really the points where you'll think "I just don't want to waste my time on this, (...)

Too much like the first game!!

This game overall was very disappointing. The first game was very repetetive and boring. This one is almost just like SOT, except for being able to have two weapons and more boss battles, it was just a copy of the first one. Sure the battle system was tweeked a little bit, like being able to swing around a pole and slash at the enemies, and grappling people, but the puzzles and the fighting were not much diferent. The graphics didn't change AT ALL, and the character is still non responsive and slow. The only thing I really liked was the boss battles. Overall it was too much of a copy of the first game, that i couldn't even finish it without getting sick of it.

POP2 THE REAL DECEPTION

Im agree with lizabright and Dorylus, this new release of POP is a deception and im really sad because when i played the sand of time and finish i play it again and again and again is a beutifull game excellent music and graphics and not a kids game an graet history and a funny and tragic history and the prince very fun, but this time they think only in the influences of rockstar games (fight and blood) really this game looks a part of legacy of kain even the logo is like a vampire game and the music is terrible for a persian adventure, how is this possible?, a POP game should be original music, beutifull graphics and very arabian style, not a devil may cry, or max paine or legacy of kain or any gothic-gun-blood game, the only thing they almost give to the price a couple of guns this game looks like any other genre than a prince of persia game, they do the same thing capcom to devil may cry but WORST DMC1 was great a jewel but DMC2 terrible, so please you canadian game developer dont destroy anymore the POP legacy

Firstly, I am not 13. My computer isnt working for me. I am 14. I was not too much into the sands of time game. Sure the art was great but there wasnt enough fighting like in the classical one for computer. In the computer version it had way for fighting but no blood. The sands doesnt even have blood from wut I remember. Someone please tell me why you kill someone and no blood? In this version there is a lot of violence. And to the kid who said there was too much violence and none needed mature rating. Your not the game programmer, the blood was needed, and the game sold a lot of copies so do you really think that Ubisoft cares about if it has too much violence in it? I thought that 6 against one wa really fun. In stead of the usual 1 on one they have like 20 people against one. That is what the game is all about. Violence, sands of time, and blood. If you didnt like it you should have kept to the sands of time game. For those of us who like violence this is a violence packed game. I mean comon. Who wouldnt want to slide down a curtain, down another, then climb a ladder dow past saws, and then jump off to jump into a fight of about 20-1? Good game, good music, and good gameplay, but very short. I beat it on hard with all the upgrades inclouding health in a little under 30 mins. 20 hours....Your that bad of a gamer that it took you 20 hours to finish. My cuzzin beat it in 20 mins with his eyes closed and memory of where to go.(Except the hard fight parts.)

The pros:
1. Awsome fighting system
2. Nice new sand powers.
3. Tricky story line.
4. Good sound
5. Cool looking enemies

The cons:
1. 4 glitches in the whole game.
2. Bad lip movement when they talk.
3. Not enough health
4. Too dark in some spots
5. a lot of back-tracking.

The rating of this game ruins everything!

First I haven't played the game yet but why did they have to give POP2 an "M" rating? I saw the preview on TV and I thought, "WOW finally POP2" but then I saw the rating and was devastated! Come on the first game was awesome and not at all violent. Sure I did get tired of fighting the same guys and the puzzles but come on!
They could have made the game better than the first without having all the heads flying and skimpy girls. I just wish they could have given it a "T" rating instead of an "M" rating.

The prince is a gymnist not a warrior

This game has wonderful graphics and tight controlls, but it should be called "Gymnist Within." The prince has incredible physical abilities that are fun to use in battle; when he is fighting. Jumping from polls, runing along walls, and dodging the same traps over and over again are what you will use his abilities for most of the game. The camera works half of the time; the other half it acts as a hinderence. Buy this game if you always wanted to be an Olympic gymnist, but your genetics just wouldn't allow it.

Dont Buy!
