Gets A Little Dull After Awhile!

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 1 / 1

This game can get very dull very quickly. I guess I am just spoiled from playing GTA3 And GTA:Vice City. You can't make an upstairs to your house and the game takes up too much space on the memory care. I think this game was rushed and should've been given perhaps to a test audience. Rent first by all means! IF YOU'RE A DIE HARD SIMS FAN YOU MAY NOT LIKE THIS GAME!

Does Not Work On All PS2 Systems...

I got this game as a birthday present but it didn't work. So we returned and got another which also did not work. Come to find out as our PS2 was one of the first PS2 systems, it will not work with games that are encoded as The Sims was (i.e. CDs made with blue plastic don't work). However, I love The Sims on the PC so I'm sure had this game worked, I would have loved it. I just wanted to warn some people that this game may not work with their systems. Big disappointment for me! I'm hoping it will come out on GameCube as well.

Greeaat graphics. Realistic life. The first of its kind for PS2. I have a mac so not many games get my way on computer. The only downsides are when you get a baby it cries a lot much too easily. The first time I had one I gave up after about two "sim hours", then I found out it turns into a kid after 3 days. The next time I tried it cried a little for the first two days then my wife fell asleep in the floor on the way to take care of it and social services came to pick it up shortly after. DRAG! I have yet to go for a third attempt

A Fun Mental Challenge

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 1 / 1

This is actually the first "simulation" type game that I have played and, overall, I enjoyed the experience. The controls and different style of gameplay did take some getting used to. But eventually I figured out how to play effectively and had fun with it. I almost always finish games to completion. But in the "Get A Life" mode I found myself stuck at the "Party Animals" level, unable to find someone willing to be my new roommate. In the "Play The Sims" mode I made it up to counterfeiter in the career path. But couldn't get past there, as I needed 5 friends and my neighborhood had only four people I was able to call or invite. Any hints on how to get further would be appreciated.

This game is very much about mental challenges more than fast paced action and will certainly not be everyone's idea of a fun gaming experience. But, for me, it was an enjoyable change of pace from the action/adventure types of games I usually play. Recommended.

STICK TO THE PC VERSION! The playstation Sims will do your head in. The PC version is a MILLION times better. The controls are annoying and the 3D look spoils the fun by trying to look too realistic.

The ONLY decent thing on this version of the Sims was the tasks. I found that quite fun for a while but its wasted on this version.

This isnt even fun to play on. It just annoyed me and I went straight back to the PC version with the expansion packs. Apparently the PC Sims 2 will be designed like this and if so I will NOT be buying its rubbish!

The Shims

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 3 / 12

My family and I call she-males shims. This game is the defenition of the word shims.

The object of the game is to build a character with suburbian clothes, put them in a suburbian town, and make them live suburbian lives until you get them to retire. VERY BORING GAME WITH VERY ANNOYING MUSIC! My 9 year old brother blasts the T.V., so everyone in the house has to hear the somewhat new-age music. The way the sims live their lives and the way they handle their relationships is slightly odd and very optimistic. The genders don't even matter. The men will kiss if they are good friends! Eventually, the game asks you if you want a baby. If you do, a baby will magically appear out of nowhere! And trust me, that is the complete opposite of how a baby is REALLY born! :-)

Game on a 1 to 10 scale:

SOUND 'n MUSIC: 2 stars. They made an effort, but not a good one. The music will make you want to mute the T.V. and the sound is very annoying. 80% of the game, you hear your sim comlain about how they need to pee so badly.

GAMEPLAY: 3 stars. Peeing in this game seems to be a federal case of its own. They need to take a piss every 30 minutes of sim time. The timing is off too. It takes a sim about an hour and a half to walk down a hall or take a $#it! When the babies turn into kids, GEEEEEEEE! They are as ugly as an old womans @$$, with makeup all over their faces and wearing their underwear only. Its strange...

GRAPHICS: 4 stars. They're OK, but the angles look like folded paper! Nothing in your sim life isn't perfectly aligned.

SIMS: 1 star - 1,000,000. All they do is stand in one place for three hours and stare at the wall and then speak gibberish to you and you have no idea what their thought bubble reads half the time. But if you give them free will, they'll waste their lives admiring a plastic flamingo in their yard instead of getting more skill or raising your stats. They don't even go to work when it's time!

REALISTIC: 2 stars. A lot of the things they do in this game are sorta real, but either they walk too perfectly or they don't do things like us. I choose both. Their movements and walking sequences are too former. And their behavior is crazy. If you buy a Heart Shaped vibrating bed, you can make it vibrate by paying a small amount of money, then the lovers (gender doesn't matter) get in...naked! They censor it though, WHAT KIND OF GAME CENSORS WHAT YOU SEE! JUST LET THE GAME BE M RATED AND TAKE OUT THE CENSOR BAR, NO ONE CARES! Anyway, an option may appear if you click on the bed and if your sims are in a good mood. It reads "Play in bed." We can all guess was happens then, right? ;-) You suddenly see the bed sheets moving around, but that's it. Oh yeah, and you hear a couple of sounds, but that's all.

OVERALL: 1 star. It's only worth renting for a buck at Albertson's on a Monday night, but nothing much more. Luckily, I was only given this game. My aunt was trying to figure out how to change the language, when they were only speaking gibberish, so she let me have it to try and figure it out.

Maxis, this is very unrealistic and a toatally fake game. We LIVE in a material world, and I'm just a material girl-I mean- boy. :-)

Disappointed

Just like so many other people, I am a big fan of the Sims on the PC. I have been anxiously waiting for the PS2 version. I got it Friday night, and quite frankly am disappointed.

If, like me, you have all of the expansion packs and mastered a long time ago how to manage your sims time and achieve your goals, the get a life mode will be kind of annoying. Imagine going back to the first game and starting from scratch. No vacation, no shopping, no pets. The graphics are good - but not THAT much better.

There are a few different things, obviously, but if you've been playing a while, you really are going back to that first starter house, without the cool options the expansion packs gave you.

Not Better Than The PC Version...

This game is one of the only games I own for the PS2. I actually enjoy playing this game, the "Get A Life" mode in particular, only because it's not available on the PC version. I like the challenge of actually being given goals to complete and since you can't cheat, you're actually forced to earn money and work your way up. It's something different from the usual routine gameplay of The Sims.

I do feel that the PC version is better than the PS2 version. I don't like the fact that you can't 3x fastforward unlike in the PC version where it goes really fast. I just don't like playing with the other sims and just want to play when my sim comes home from work. The controls take time to adjust to, and I find it a hassle when putting up walls and painting in build mode. Otherwise, I like how The Sims are in 3D and you are not limited to only four camera angles, but can actually move around the objects/sims.

Word of advice: Don't purchase if you have a small TV. Some of the objects are difficult to see if you have a small screen. Because of this, you will find it a challenge to pick stuff up from the floor and directing your sim to certain objects. In addition, I don't recommend this game for first time Sims players. If you've never played The Sims but want to see what the fuss is all about, try the PC version first or rent it for PS2. :)

I don't know..

My sister bought The Sims for PS2 the other day, and i played it for a while. The controls are a bit confusing, and the graphics aren't great. Saving the game takes up a lot of space on the memory card, too. The characters are more interesting and much more customizable though, so that adds.. something to it. There's also a two-player mode. I didn't play much after trying to build a house for half an hour and then the game wouldn't even save. I checked the memory card after turning it off and there was still a lot of space left on it. Basically, the computer version is better and easier to use, but the PS2 version has better characters and more gameplay.
