I got this as my first wii game. It has awesome sound effects and it's a lot of fun..but i wasn't very good at the Wii remote so I had a lot of trouble getting Mario to move. If you have the Wii and have played different games then i would definitely recommend this game. I am 12 and I really like this game now that i am better at using the remote. So yes, i would buy it.
Super Mario Galaxy - lots of entertainment

Great game, enjoyable, something that most ages can play. Is not the typical blood, gore and shoot up game that some find so popular. Is a nice escape from the stresses of daily life.

I have played a lot of games, but rarely do I find one that I is fit to be labeled one of the best games of all-time. I am 33 years old and I definitely put this in the top 5 list easy. It combines so much greatness from the old Mario games and piles it in with the greatness of new technology, puzzles, and story.
The controls for swimming is the only thing that I would want improved. The concept and story are fun to follow. Each level is a lot of fun. Many of the levels introduce new gameplay to them (ie: flying like a bee, swimming like the penguins, gravity or anti-gravity pulls, floating and disappearing as a ghost, etc etc, the list could go on).
Most companies would take one of the novel/creative ideas and make an entire game around that one aspect...but Super Mario Galaxy didn't settle for that and adds creativity to every level. Each level is designed to be fun and challenging...and figuring out how to defeat the boss creatures is too much fun.
My 4 year old loves watching us play while he uses the 2nd controller to collect the Star Bits as we play. It's a perfect family game. I could go on and on, but when it comes down to it, this is the most creative game I have EVER played!!! I would recommend it to anyone.
Mario's latest adventure is a real mind-bender!

The premise of Super Mario Galaxy is the same as it always has been: complete a series of short mini-stages, collecting coins and stars along the way, then fight Bowser to rescue the princess. What's different this time is that your mission takes you across the Universe, and a few dozen small galaxies along the way. These galaxies are made up of tiny planets; and when I say tiny, I mean Mario can run the entire circumference of many worlds in a matter of seconds. The trick is that each planet has its own gravity field, so you can run upside-down and sideways without falling to your death.
The level designers make creative use of gravity throughout the game, so much so that you wonder how they were able to come up with some of the stages. Super Mario Galaxy forces you to change the way you think about space and perspective in games. Oftentimes if you are stuck, it's not because the enemies are too hard or the jumps are too tricky, but because you haven't looked at your situation from every possible angle.
This sounds pretty intimidating, but the game lets you take these challenges in bite-sized pieces. Once you've completed what you need to do on a planet, you can launch yourself to the next one, and so on until you get the star for that level. Despite all the gravity-bending gameplay, the levels are more or less linear. There is never any need to backtrack to previous planets--in fact, you can't go back once you've launched yourself. You continue facing one task at a time, always moving forward, until the end of the game. It's also worth mentioning that each of the 120 stars takes around 5 or 10 minutes to collect, and you always have a chance to save and quit before going after the next one. This allows you to fit in time to play without having to clear your schedule.
If you have even the tiniest affection for platforming games, then know that Super Mario Galaxy is the most epic, imaginative, enjoyable, and just plain best platformer ever made. It's always challenging without being punishingly difficult, the levels are epic in scale without being overwhelming, and the fun is long-lasting without forcing you to play for hours at a time.
i love it

Super Mario Galaxy is set in outer space, where Mario travels from galaxy to galaxy in order to collect Power Stars, which are earned by completing quests or defeating enemies. Each galaxy contains a number of planets and other space matter for the player to explore.
Very lovely gave although with a sad twist at the end definetly a must play game

I've played pretty much every single Super Mario game. They're always fun and innovating. This game is no exception, at first I thought it was not going to be challenging but after the 3rd observatory (level) it started to give me hard times. What Liked the most are all the old and new features such as ice skating, ray surfing and riding the star ball (or whatever it's called). And even Luigi appears on the game, and actually helps you out every once in a while. Excellent title, I can't stop playing it.
Camera angles, sub-standard responsiveness weigh this game down.

Like many of the rest of you, I have been waiting for this game since the Wii debuted last year. Now that I have it, I'll join the ewww-and-ahhh-ers in saying that the game is exceptionally visually appealing. In fact, it's cute as hell! I disagree with those who have said that it is a big improvement from Super Mario Sunshine. I don't think it's much different at all, except for the increase in power-up variety. It shares the same concept of a large area with different portals (here, 'galaxies') that you have to go back to several times each to complete different objectives.
In fact, it shares the same problems with the previous game which I had hoped would have been improved significantly upon with the new Wii platform: the camera angles and responsiveness. Also, there are certain objectives that are just plain irritating and not fun at all (e.g., 'A Very Spooky Spring'--I don't think I have ever been so frustrated playing a game as I have been completing this particular objective).
It's a shame considering that, had more work been put into the camera angles alone, I would've enjoyed this game much more. In stead, it's just an average game as far as I'm concerned. Metriod Prime 3 and Zelda: The Twilight Princess are far superior.

This game makes me fell what i felt about Nintendo 17 years ago when I was a kid with the original NES and the original Mario. Wow what an experience, I feel like a kid again. This game has gone excelled all my expectations. One of the best games ever made great for all ages.

Not as great as I expected. Seemed to be another Mario64 with harder to master controls. Some people think this is the greatest game ever, I tend to think it a rent before you buy, I'm glad I did. Overall, seemed to be a great game, just not as good as I expected. Nothing as revolutionary as Mario64 was and I guess the running upside down on planets just felt auckward(sp?). Maybe if I devoted more than a few hours to it, but I lost interest quickly.
