Almost everyone has played or at least seen the original Nintendo 8-but classic Mario, and Nintendo did a beautiful job of bringing it to the game boy color. This must-have game is even better than the N64 version if you ask me. You can play this game for hundreds of hours and you will still be unlocking the secrets, which seem limitless.

It has 2 player mode, a calendar, fortune telling, mini-games, printer and infrared capability, and its about darn time that you get a high score chart. It also comes with the lost levels, a race the ghost mode, a challenge mode, and the list goes on and on!

A Great Game

This is a great game for the whole family! It has great graphics and sound. The game is the same as the original Super Mario Brothers on Nintendo but with new features and side games this is a great toy. I recomend this game for everyone.

Best video game ever!

I have 3 kids - 1 three year old and two four year olds (twins) and all 4 off us (me included) fight over wanting to play this game. I've been playing this since it was on the old Super Nintendo system and now it's just as great and functional on Game Boy as it was back then. It's my kids favorite Game Boy game that we have, and we have lots!

this game is great

i really think this game would be worth your money. one of the first things i do when i look at a game is check out the reviews.i read that some games stink but this one does not. i used to have the same game on nintendo entertainment system and i could whiz past it in a little while but this was after five years of playing the game. when i first had the game on my nintendo system it was a challage. i got to a level where it was hard to beat but you will get it before you throw down the gameboy. this game is not one of those that you beat in 3 hours. you willnot just beat one level and the challange does not grow. this game is great and again i believe it is not a waste of your money.

Its back and bigger than ever, but is it better?

For you Mario freaks who want to play the original, or those ones who are new to video games and don't have an old NES (which, sadly, are becoming increasingly rarer as time goes on), this is a good substitute. It doesn't quite capture the magic many of us old school gamers can remember the first time we saw that screen on our TVs. But the Golden Age of the video gaming industry has passed, and we must continue on. Sorry for getting nostalgic, but there's still nothing quite as memorable these days as playing the old NES years ago, with a lot of friends gathered around. Perhaps I romantize that era to much of the video game industry, but I have a lot of good memories from that. That's how boys bond (and also men - me and my best friends still go and play the N64 --- the latest wrestling game from THQ and Goldeneye always come in handy). And for those parents who are concerned with some of the more mature elements in gaming these days - don't worry, Mario doesn't have anything to be concerned about.

Anyway, this includes some new features, like challenges (find Yoshi's Egg, 5 red coins, and beat a specified high score), races with Boo, a Toy Box (or something along those lines), and some trophies. Also, more intriguing, is that that included the Japanese SMB II or Lost Levels for us American and UK folks or gamers I mean. You have to get 300,000 points on the original, and then Luigi's head will appear on the gaming menu. Its retitled SUPER MARIO BROTHERS FOR SUPER PLAYERS, and you have to be one to beat it, the difficulty level is so high. It took us a good 13 years to get the game in original 8 bit format. One thing about the screen: its not big enough to get the entire game inside it, so they have Mario look up and down.

All in all, a good adaptation. Still, it'd be nice to see the release of more games like this -- mainly the first two LEGEND OF ZELDA games on one cart. Why don't they do this?? Perhaps with the release of the two new GB Colour Zelda games (they divided one game into halves and stuck it on the remaining two) we'll see a release of those two classic Zelda titles. Other than emulation or on the 8-Bit they're unavailable. That's a real travesty.

Super Mario is super. Just like other Marios, you jump on enemies and get coins. But there are also new features. ( Like you can get medals. There are 3 medals, the five red coins medal, the yoshi egg metal, and the medal for beating the high score.) There is also an album, ( so you can print out pictures on your gameboy printer ), calendar, and a fortune telling game. This game is fun for days, weeks, and months.

I can't stress enough how good this game is.

When I got my GBA, naturally, I wanted a Mario game. So I bought SMB DX. One word to describe the game: SUPERB. The original levels are not easy, and they will keep you occupied for hours. After the user beats those levels, they become harder, with new enemies. All in the meantime, there's a toy box, complete with a calender, fortune telling, printouts for the game boy printer, and what I believe to be the best feature: Boo racing mode. This is essentially the VS. game in single player mode. You race Boo, a ghost, through eight different levels. When you finish before Boo, he adjusts his speed to your time, so that the next time you challenge that round, he will match your old time. Therefore, the Boo racing mode becomes a "trainer" for when you link up. This mode is just as fun, if not more fun, than the original levels. And when you're bored with all that (which you'll NEVER be), there's the challenge mode, where you go through all the original 32 levels in search of red coins and a yoshi egg, as well as achieving a preset high score for that level. And once you're done with that (I consider myself an excellent gamer, yet I have not completed this tricky but stimulating mode), there's the LOST LEVELS, which is yet another set of 32 levels unlockable by...well, I'll leave that up to you, but if you're a good enough player, you'll be able to unlock 'em! In summary, I can't tell you enough to buy this game. The best GBC game ever released BY FAR, this game is absolutely LOADED with fun features, and it'll take many, many moons, maybe even months or years, before you've completed them all. A must-must-have for every gamer, SMB DX is a big hit on the GBC that is guaranteed to have you draining your batteries!

Super Mario -- and beyond!

Super Mario Brothers Deluxe is the best game I own for Game Boy Color. It is the same as the original Super Mario Brothers, with secret warp-holes that bring you immediately to other, higher levels. It has the "bosses" (also known as Castles) at the end of each world. It also has the classic warp-pipes that bring you to secret, underground passages. It has all of the original monsters to beat, including Koopa Troopas and the ever-feared Bowser. But that's not all! You can play the regular mode, but also try to win the three different medals in the challenge mode. Or, you can race a friend to the end of a selected level. And, best of all, it has other, miscellaneous features like the records list, which is a list that contains only the top ten scores, names, and levels that you had the high score in. Then there's the "Toy Box," where you can get your fortune told, a calendar to mark important dates, and more surprises!

Even more fun on Gameboy

This game really couldn't have failed to be great because it essentially is just a NES classic for Gameboy. But it's actually better than the version for the NES. The controls are much better and it's packed with extras. Definitely worth buying for nostalgia and fun.

A must have for GBC owners

Absolutely an abyss in terms of depth! I have spent 40+ hours playing SMD and I still play it. Will a good amount of addictive-ness and difficulty youll be addicted. Great for road trips and plane rides. With two modes of the original super mario brothers (with absolutely NO slowdown), the lost levels, racing with boo, and my favorite, the ability to play through levels and search for red coins, yoshi eggs, and try to get a high score. With tons of other features, I would DEFINITELY RECCOMEND THIS GAME
