When I was still sucking on my bottle, I saw my cousin playing this and I was determined to get it. One year later I was all fixed up with SMB deluxe and GB color. When they say "deluxe" they're not kidding. Take the length of the original and multiply that about 6 times. The mode choices at the start of your game are the original game, the challenge mode(you go for speed, score, finding hidden objects goals), and the versus mode. By beating the game, scoring a high score, and other challenges, you'll unlock SMB For Super Players, an extremely difficult version of the original(Its been 2 years and I still haven't gotten past level 1-3!), a whelp of races against a ghost, Boo, and a medium-difficulty version of the original. I say this game is ages 12 and up because I couldnt beat this till age 12. I can see how this was popular in '85...

For all you nostalgic Nintendo game buffs, here is the one that came out in the 80's with the game system--Super Mario Brothers! I was definitely a Nintendo buff then, and I am still a classic games buff! I loved the original Mario Bros. game and the strategic yet fun play that this game presents.

The bonus coin levels and shooting the little annoying fellas with fireballs, to defeating the dragons, this game is awesome! Great for young kids, and people like me in their 20's who were kids when the first Nintendo game system came out and we were all excited! Even older classic games buffs should enjoy it, it's got enough action and challenge to keep you interested! This along with the classic Pac Man games, Donkey Kong, etc are still the best to me!

Now the old Super Mario Bros. is back with a lot of extras.
First, it's the original game with a nifty save feature (On the map screen hit select to change into Luigi)
Second, Three Savable files
Third, A challenge mode in each level for colllecting the five red coins, Finding yoshi's egg and beating the level with a certain score.
Forth, A versus mode when you and a friend play (a single player mode can be unlocked)
Fifth, a picture album
Sixth, A Toy box containing a calender,You can hold your Birthday, special dates, and notes)a furtune teller, and a banner gallery on witch you can print out banners through the gameboy printer.
Seventh, The original Super Mario Bros. 2 released only in Japan and was later remade on Super Mario Allstars(A collection of classic Mario games, Super Mario Bros.,Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, & Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels( Super Mario Bros. 2 In Japan)) For the Super Nintendo Entertainment System or SNES. On this game it is called Super Mario Bros. for Super Players or SMBfSP (Confused Yet?)

Great revision of the original game

Though there are a few differences from the original 8-bit (the screen is square and you can go backwards) this game still stays true to the original Nintendo Super Mario Bros. It has all the warp zones and secret worlds that I remember. But what really makes this great is all the new things that have been added in. Like the fact that it automatically saves after each level, now you don't have to die on 8-1 just to have to start all over again. Moreover the new bonus worlds that you get to play after you beat the original game, provide an interesting twist. The printer graphics are kind of cool and the date and fortuner teller systems aren't terrible either. The new race the ghost mode is a lot of fun and will continue to provide challenges even to those of who can beat the old 8-bit version blindfolded. Overall an extremely worthwhile game.

For the people or kids that want to purchase this game go right ahead! It's a great game with cool challenges. All together there are 8 levels. In each level there are four mini levels in that level. To complete a level you have to complete the mini levels in that level. It might sound confusing but really it's a piece of pie. The last mini level in a level is more challenging then the ones you have already accomplished. At the end you come to a little bridge type of thing and there is a monster. When the monster jumps go under it and there will be this little lever, jump on it. That will break the bridge and the monster will fall into the hot firey water. Two of the mini levels include a cloud that throws spiky creatures at you. Be careful! The way you can make him stop throwing the creatures is you hold down the A button and keep running. At the end of that mini level you may think he has stopped but he hasn't he keeps throwing the creatured at you until you jump onto the flagpole. There are flagpoles at the end of each mini level except for the last mini level in a level. When you reach the end of a mini level you climb up some high blocks and there is a flagpole. (A flag is at the top) Jump as high as you can to reach the flag and that will show how many points you have gained. Now that I explained some of the game to you. Have fun!!!

This is a great alternative to the original. They came as close as they could to the original considering their limitation on screen size, controls, and sound capability.

Excellent, but some levels are too challenging!

I really like this game. It provides hours of fun, that is until you get to a hard level. I was stuck at the second one for at least a day. It can be VERY difficult but most of the time its alot of fun. I would recommend this game for people who are patient and willing to spend weeks on this game (but of course some people might finish it before the first week).

Not long enough

This game is to short, it is to easy to finish. There is not enough to keep you interested once you've finished the actual game. There are gimicy little things added but they only keep you interested for about half and hour. More levels needed.

I got this game for my son who is 6 years old for Christmas. He has about 4 other games. My daughter (9 years old) has one-this is the one they fight over. I am trying to decide if I should go ahead and get her one also because they both want to play this one all the time!! I wish I had not bothered with the other games!! This one is a winner!

I have beaten this game maybe 7 times, and every time is like the first! I have more fun playing the game than anything else. I play it for hours everyday, and it just gets more fun as you play. It is a game full of exitement, surprises, and strategy that you cannot find in any other gameboy game.
