Splinter Cell came out on the PAL version only last week and after purchasing it, I have to admit that its great. Its the most relaistic Espionage title on the PS2 so far. An impressive storyline and well-done graphics give this Splinter Cell a 5/5.

You play as Sam Fischer, and Ex-CIA agent, called back to the line of duty after two agents go missing in the former Soviet Union state of Georgia. In the very start of the game you come to know that theyre dead and now your mission is to find out why they were killed. Most of your missions are based in Georgia.

The graphics are superb. Every minute detail is carefully lokked upon, such as curtains flying when a gust of wind enters the room, the rays of a light bulb and the shadows of each object. Clouds moving in the dak sky adds realism to the game.

The gameplay is really entertaining. You get to use Top-Notch CIA Equipment such as Infra-Red goggles, Advanced Lock pics, laser mic's and a whole lot more. Each mission consists of One Checkpoint and One saving option which appears at the end of the mission.

Overall Splinter Cell is an amazing game and a muct-buy for PS2 owners!

its cool, and fun...but its one of the trial and error games

This game is amazing. I loved MGS2:sons of liberty and this is just as good (mabye better because this doesnt have Raiden). Tom Clancy is an amazing writer, and im glad his work is going into PS2 now.
Spliter Cell is amazing on Xbox(althought i hate the ugly green baby).
Another notch to my collection!

The Best Game Ever!

This was the best game ever on xbox. Then it came and rocked the pc. And now it is finally coming to the ps2. It keeps taking over platforms one by one. It is the best stealth game and game period. But instead of drooling over it's magnifescence, I'll fet to the review. This is a game where you are Sam Fisher, a former cia operative with intense military experience. You have been called back into action to investiagate the dissapearance of agents Madison and Blaustein. They were working on an operation in Georgia,Russia investigating a break of UN rules. They dissapear so you have to go through 10 intense, action packed levels to find out what's going on. Let me give you an in game experience, you are silently approaching a guard in the police precinct when he hears footsteps, he turns around and starts shooting at you. You turn back into the hall and do a split jump, he follows looking for you, he gets closer, and...
that is just part of what you'll be doing.
Graphics: on the xbox perfect, and from what i've seen of the ps2 also perfect.
Sound: Great on all platforms you hear footsteps on different surfaces concrete, glass, etc.
Gameplay: outstanding, you can do just about anything.

Well, I'll be back with more when it finally comes out April, 8th. I hope you all buy it.

Not that good.

First off, this is NOT a Tom Clancy as we've come to know Tom Clancys. I remeber Rainbow Six all the way up to Rougue Spear and have deducted that they are stealth based, team oriented, action games. This is a single man, stealth based game that is more linear and trying to hide than anything I've ever seen.

The beuty of Clancy games is the open endedness of them all. This game has one way to complete it, but the small things can change like: how can I take that guy out? But you HAVE TO take that guy out. The story unfolds during gameplay, which is not right in a stealth sction game... story should only be presented in movies or briefings. This is what stealth action games are and thats it, no exceptions. This game breaks it all and tries to tie it together with other stuff.

The only good thing is the presentation, which is awesome. The graphics are smooth and detailed, even know it does slow down at some points, its good. The stealth part is also good, but I didn't like the small selection of weapons; a silent pistol gets boring fast.

The AI is a mix. Sometimes is believable, other times its not. Sometimes you'll be hidden in a shadow and they won't see you when they walk by, but the guy way the hell over there will see you and shoot you, kinda weird. Also, you have a 3 friggin spotlights on your head and no one ever sees them. You also have a landing light on your back that no one cares to check out when they see it bobbing up and down in the shadows.

It saves automatically and at bad times. So the game can be destribed as a huge 50 gallon drum of frustration with pretty, shinny markings on the side. Everyone likes the pretty yellow radiation symbol on the side of the barrel and the glowing green goo is nice, but it will kill you and it will do it with out mercy.

I guess the problem is is that it should be in an arcade and make you pay everytime you die than in your living room costing you [money amount]. You may have fun with this, but I reccamend Hitman 2 over it any day. Needless to say: Big dissapointment.

Okay, but thats about it.

This game is okay and it definitly don't live up to it's hype. The game has some cool features like lighting and shawdowing. It's just that the game pales in comoparesion to Metal Gear Solid 2. The elimition of a radar leads you to spend half-an-hour to find which door to go though. Plus dare I say it, the AI is too smart. There could be one guy that always hears you so you find yourself pulling out your hair, how do I get past this guy? The stealth is amazing though it's just that thy left out to many things. Tom Clancy series pride themselves on being realistic. When it's takes you 3 shots in the head mind you to kill someone it is a tad annoying. In other words you will find yourself crying with fustration and bordem while playing this game. First of all is you want a steath game then get MGS2. If you say to yourself I have to have this game I strongly I repete strongly recomend renting.

Frustrating yet so fun

I know this is blasphemy, but when I compare Splinter Cell to MSG2, I would have to take Splinter Cell. The lighting effects are awesome. Furthermore, I really enjoy not having to rely on a radar which just isn't realistic. Most importantly, I haven't spent half of the game watching a movie. I will take gameplay over story any day. Besides, the MSG2 story didn't make any sense.

Some people complain about the combat system. Splinter Cell isn't about combat. It is about the super cool ways to get around the guards.

It is quite a hard game. You will spend most of the first level trying to get the moves down. However, once I figured it out, I couldn't wait to hit the next situation. I guess the difficulty is the only reason for giving it four stars. There are times when I don't want to replay an entire section because I [fouled] up once....

This game is great!
