Mostly I think the Getaway is an awesome game. The graphics are great, the sound is clear, and the story is exciting. However, there is a bit too much swearing, everywhere you turn there is another enemy, and some of the levels are really, really hard.
Great Game, But Not Without Flaws

"The Getaway" is one of the best games I've ever played. With great graphics and an entertaining storyline, it's "Grand Theft Auto" with style. In some areas it's better than GTA. The realism, graphics, and storyline are better than GTA's. Here are the pros and cons of this amazing game:
Pros:
Entertaining Storyline
Incredible Graphics
Realistic
Great Assortment of Vehicles
Great Characters
Plays Like A Movie
Cons:
Scenes In Between Missions Too Long, Can't Stop Them
Some Mediocre Gameplay
Needs More Weapons
Plays A Little Bit Too Much Like A Movie Sometimes
London Streets Confusing
Damn British Accents Hard To Understand
GREAT GAME!!!

"The Getaway" is one of the most fun games I've played since Vice City. The graphics are beautiful and London is almost exactly recreated. It's so realisticly cool. If you get hit by a car you're dead; if you get shot about 5-7 times you're dead. The car physics are amazing. If you start going really fast and turn too hard you'll go spinning out of control. The cutscenes are fun to watch because they tell you the story. There's more to games than just action and shooting. My only complaint is the sluggish control and the camera can get in the way a bit. But honestly I don't care. This game is so fun to play and it's challenging. Buy it.
Part one is excellent! Let down with Part two...

The Getaway is an exciting game, set in the streets of London. You get to play two characters - Hammond (a man who knows life of crime) and Carter (a cop out to book his crooked boos). Travelling fast across the streets of London, you get to see all the land marks.
The game starts with Mark Hammond's wife being shot, and his boy being taken.... then Mark is sent on wild goose chases to get his boy back, which involve many different gangs of London.
I found part one as Hammond to be really good, and pretty difficult. Some levels were hard to complete.
In the second part (levels 13 - 24), you play Carter. While it was fun driving through the streets in a cop car, I found the second part to be much easier to complete. All in all a great game. Oh, and remember in the UK they drive on the left....

The Getaway is an inovative game that allows the player to experience realization. This is achieved through no on screen displays during gameplay. The character is able to pick up weapons from any eliminated rival. He is also able to retrieve his health by leaning on a nearby wall. Now, it is always important to take into account that no matter how good or bad the actual game is, since each individual's perspective will be different, it's still a game. A game is not, nor ever will be, perfect. There are numerous gliches that I saw while playing the game but that is to be expected. The difference between finding a health bar or leaning on a wall lies in the players attitude towards the game itself. I believe that the wall is better only because there is a wall everywhere and you shouldn't need 6 months to finish any game. So the wall eliminates wasted time. This is only my opinion. London is as real as it gets. The driving is nothing short of spectacular. The turning signals are original, yet there are gliches. For a game, it's pretty cool. GTAIII and Vice City have there own amazement and so does The Getaway. Is one better than the other? Not really, because all three are unique. My overall view is that The Getaway is a good game with a great story line and both characters intertwine extremely well. It is an experience that I highly recommed to anyone who likes challenging games. It's not the best ever but what game could you say is the best ever?

First of all...I have to clear this up, b/c it annoys me to see this. There is a way to skip the video sequences...IF you've already seen them. Press, R3...meaning, push in the right analog stick. Okay...so, now that that's done. This was a good game...a good one, not a great one. The junk that seems to be common among unhappy reviewers is the lack of a map and life meters and little unrealistic but fun-amping features. If you're open to diversity, most of this isn't a problem and if it is...it's not a BIG problem. The little signal thing that's supposed to lead you to your target (during driving)...it's a little annoying, b/c sometimes you're right by a place and you know you are, but you can't find it...but if you use your head a little, it's not that bad. The acting was awesome...the story was so,so...all it needed to do was add a little brain and spice and it would've been tasty, lol. I wish there were more extras...like if you beat the game you could get a case of special weapons or something (yes, the number of weapons is quite limited). I was disappointed at the end, b/c I was expecting credits and this really cinematic cease...but no. When you finish...you just finish. It's over. The music is really good. The only thing that REALLY bothered me about this game though, was the controls and the camera angles at certain times. Looking around a corner to check out the enemy was a pain and if you walked into a corner and decided to turn around...you might have to take a few seconds to figure out where you are. About the controls...they just weren't very smooth...or at least, your characters response wasn't. MGS2:Sons of Liberty...that had smooth controls, very smooth. Add better controls and camera angels, improve the navigation system (on the cars),touch up the story just a little, add some credits at the end...and this would get a five. I intend to direct and plot some games in the future (along with movies), so I hope to take games to another level some day, :) Oh...and a soundtrack for this game on cd wouldn't hurt either, lol.
Better than GTA Vice city?...

I will give this game credit for the real graphics and usage of actual cars with good turning capabilities and speed.
BUT: You cant look behind you or to the side of you in your car, nor shoot out of it. you can only carry your handguns, and one other weapon, no map, turn signals can be confusing and if you hit your taillights, your screwed for directions, this is a game i would rent, NOT BUY!!!!! It has way to many opportunities to be better, go with Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, GTA should have a hundred more additions!!! I love GTA!! Loved it since the birdeye view from playstation 1 all the way!!!
awesome game

I didn't win this game yet but I'm almost done with it. This is an awesome game, great graphics, cool car physics. This game has high reality: get hit a few times and your dead, limp around when injured. Gameplay is very cool especially the car chases. This is a great game but I suggest you rent it before you buy because it has it's certain type of people who like it.
