I just played the demo of "Call of Duty" and really enjoyed it. The squad format works really well but to me the sound is inferior to any "Medal of Honor" title. I have high end speakers and COD just doesn't approach the magnificient sounds of MOH. Maybe they will beef them up in the release.
Oterwise, I intend to buy it.
Superb graphics & sound not so much for gameplay and plot

The graphics and sound are good. In fact the best in any PC FPS.
But gameplay and plot are weak. So, many people who are blown away by the graphics and sound fail to notice a small , simple thing : How can a single Bazooka round destroy a Tiger tank?
It does not even happen in Medal of Honor, which this game was supposed to have replaced. There also you need a minimum 5 rounds to knock off a Tank with you Bazooka (or Panzerschreck)
The single player sucks

As another customer said, the singleplayer campaign of Call of Duty is repetitive and tedious; And changing the difficulty is just a test of how fast you can use the F5 and F9 keys (autosave & reload last autosave buttons). You can finish it in a short evening. If you are looking for a single player experience, look elsewhere.
However, the multiplayer is SIMPLY EXCELLENT. It works smooth as silk even if you have ! 280 ping ! and even when 42 people are playing at the same time. Just amazing. The graphics and phisycs work way better than in BF1942 and it doesn't include it's laginess/chopiness. You get a lot of different game types: From deathmacht (Everyone vs. Everyone) to Search and Destroy (Like the bomb missions in Counter Strike) and Headquarters (Teams alternate def. and attack of a radio, which once destroyed, you have to defend and so on).
The multiplayer is so well designed that it simply forces you to use teamwork. Yes, you will use those "I need reinforcements" "Enemy spotted" team commands that were simply decorative in BF1942. In this game, you die so easily that you don't have enough time to turn around and shoot to your opponent if you are being attacked; thus you need someone covering your back or just aiming in the same direction. Unless you manage to cheat, you WILL need people firing in the same direction that you are firing, since you will have such a low health. You will have to run behind your teammates to win.
In the rest of multiplayer games (Including BF2) you just have to sit down and shoot whatever comes in your line of fire. Not here; I've been looking for a game like this for months and I can say that it's worth the 15 bucks.

excellent game but to me too short, waiting for expansion to show
up at my house, highly recommend this game as it is a challenge
even on easy level, people who complain about the sound, bugs,
etc should stick to arcade games as a challenging game like this is obviously too much for them, if you like soldier of fortune or
deus ex you will like this game.

After waiting through three months of hype, this game comes out just as promised, and better. Some of the most emotional gaming you can find around, and with a bustling community this one will be a winner for years to come. Highly recommend to any WWII fan or FPS fanatic.

This is just what i've been waiting for. The next step in FPS gaming. The totally immersive, intense action sequences blew me away. (the car chase scene alone is worth the fifty bucks)Playing for just a couple hours leaves you in need of a break feeling war-torn and frazzled. Multiplayer is the best i've ever played. This will be the new standard that all other FPS games are judged against.

While it's not groundbreaking, it's definitely the best World War II shooter on the market right now.
The most impressive aspect of Call of Duty is its immersion factor. From the sound to the chaos going on around you. Instead of feeling like it's you alone against Nazi Germany, you really end up feeling like you're just another soldier trying to do his job and get home. And the action is fast and furious almost from beginning to end.
The game involves US, British and Soviet campaigns. At times you'll feel like you're part of Band of Brothers and at others you'll feel as though you're starring in Enemy at the Gates. Both movies are borrowed heavily from, especially the latter. The Soviet campaign has some of the best set piece action, including the crossing of the Volga as you try to make it up the banks in Stalingrad...without a weapon. Simply amazing.
Frankly, the game is full of set pieces, including some pretty spectacular firefights in the US campaign, like the storming of a POW camp and the taking of a French village--only to have to defend it against counter attack the following morning.
The weakest part of the game is the middle--where you play as a British soldier. Much of the action is singular, in that you aren't fighting alongside your buddies. However, there is the taking and defending of the Pegasus Bridge in that campaign, where you do fight with fellow soldiers, and it is over-the-top.
For the overall game if there is anything someone might consider a weakness, it's the Quake III engine, which while heavily modified for Call of Duty, is past its prime. (The benefit to that, however, is that even with a modest machine, you're not going to have problems running this game with decent settings!) And other than the fact that it's got better immersion than other World War II shooters, it's not breaking any new ground. It's an improved version of what we've already seen. One other negative worth mentioning is the length. Granted, you get a lot of bang for your buck, but if you have any experience with shooters, you'll easily finish this game in under 10 hours. It took me a week of casual play to finish. Unfortunately, this is a growing trend in gaming and I don't see it changing. You will, however, get some added value out of the multiplay options. On a positive note, however, with such a short length, there is very little filler, and this is the only game I've ever owned that I decided to play again, immediately after finishing the first time.
If you don't mind paying the full price, this is a "must have right now" game. If you decide to wait for the price to drop, it's still a must have. It's like driving a race car...without a seatbelt!

If you love MOH you'll love CoD, for it's awesome. Smoother graphics and better levels. The multiplayer game will leave you sleepless for weeks. Kudos to COD.
