Great Single Player Game, but Little Replay Value

I absolutely loved the single player story and game. I didn't see much value in the Free Ride modes and Free Ride Extreme seemed like a weak attempt at making the game longer. It is a short but very very sweet game.

What a great game with its city lush envierment. Well every city has at liest one mob Don and Lost Hevan has two who would love to err well just like to ahh... Kill... Each other. The sound is amazing in this game, for the guns, the cars, and your suroundings in general, church bells, ehcos, you name it. There are around 60 slick 1930's cars, all of them a site to see. The guns look great too(and sound great)use the legandary Tommy gun and,my persenal favorite the Colt 1911,along with others. Enough said THIS GAME RULES SCREW GTA

This is the best game that i have ever played!!! I bought this about a year ago for PC and the graphics had some problems with my computer but i was ble to manage and play the game. I have just bought it for playstation because the graphics are better than they would be on MY computer. The 1930s theme is really real and makes you believe that you are in NYC in the 30s eventhough they make a place called Lost Heaven. The Missons are not easy but they will keep you busy for hours at a time. This is by far much better than that of GTA 3!! This game is well worth the money!!!!!!!!!
Believe the hype. A Classic.

Okay, most of you have read all the reviews, so I will skip telling you the plot of the game and get to addressing complaints about the game.
1)No Save-at-anytime feature: Yes, this can be a little annoying, but have really only had to replay sequences a few times at most(with the exception of the racing mission, which took many tries, but supposedly the patch addresses this difficulty).
2)Can't skip cutscenes: What gave anyone this idea? Press the spacebar...you know the big, long key at the bottom of the keyboard?!
3)Cars are too slow: It is the 30's people! Try to take in the feel of the era and get GTA out of your head.
4)Gunfights aren't fun with reloading issues/losing unused ammo: This is ridiculous, in my opinion. The gunfights are one of the best parts of this game. Conserving ammo and knowing when to fire are a key element to playing this game and enjoying it. It is a thrill to be down to a few rounds of ammo with one enemy left. Again, get the GTA 3000 round chain-gun mentality out of this game.
5)A.I. is bad for both enemies and friendly NPC's: I have found this to be true for the enemies. Sometimes they have their backs to you aiming the opposite way and sometimes they hunt you right down to your hiding spot with a double-barreled sawed-off shotgun and splatter you before you know what happened. I have never had issues with friendly characters, though. A.I. is an issue in so many games and I just try to live with it.
This game is like playing and starring in a very, very good gangster movie. The story is spectacular. The voice acting is great. The game environment is top-notch. The gameplay is what it should be. This is one of the best.
Best game ever!

When I first saw the commericial for the Xbox and PS2 version i thought it would be a hot game but I recently picked the pc version up and it was off the hook. First I had to get used to the controls but other than that, I was glued to the storyline and action of the game. Unlike GTA this game has a more realistic feel to it, like getting speeding tickets and when you shoot guys with a shot gun the fall down on the first shot. "Now thats good TV". Anyway this game a great investment for the PC and if you purchase it you wont be sorry

This is an amazing game. This game has a great sory line and will pull you in more after every level. This game shows the life of a man who has to take risky measures to save his life. The mobster in this game is not just a normal narrow sighted killer. He is caring and loving, but is involved with the mob. So he has to do retched things for the ones who love him the most. I love this game because it is a great story filled with action, desception, and great graphics. This game is like living in a mob movie. This game installs well but, slow at times. It runs perfectly. I haven't had a problem with the game (I've beat the game five times.)Its very challanging and very fun at the same time. You always have to think ahead. When I first started to play the game I always hated 3rd person view but, I understood that it showed so much more about the character and the environment around me. The action scenes are so amazing you can't stop playing for months. This game is definetly an offer I couldn't refuse. The game is definetly worth the price. It should be twice as much. The game was so gripping that I was depressed when I had finished it. Overall this is the best game I have ever played.

There is no equivalent to the class demonstrated in this game. It has been one of the best games i have ever played and is much more realistic than than the GTA series.
I admit that the race mission was difficult, but i was able to pass it regardless on my 3rd attempt, it is a challenge for trully skilled gamers. However if difficulties are experienced, check some FAQ's sites as they have a shortcut.
The driving experiences start out slow, but the true beauty is the progress as more advanced and faster cars with greater performance become available. The player witnesses the change from beginning to the end as the game transforms and advances.
An excellent game for lovers of the genre.
One of the best...

Not much words... Mafia is one of the best games, I have ever played. Maybe the best of all.
It is fascinating to cruise through the City Lost Heaven, such living place and share a great story with unexpected turns.
From poverty to wealth and what comes after... I dont want to say too much... ;-)
Try it yourself! Maybe you will love it like me too.

Mafia is one of those games that allow you to explore every inch of the environment you're in. It is a 3rd person perspective player and the city you're in has virtually no limits. You can go anywhere you would like, pick up any car you would like.
The story takes place back in the twenties if I remember correctly. You are a simple man, a cab driver that is trying to make ends meet when suddenly, one day opportunity knocks at your door. You help a mafia figure escape a shooting by a rival mob family and in return, you're offered a chance to do a few favors here and there.
From there on, the story unravels. You become increasingly more trusted within the mob family, are being given more important and confidential missions and goals to complete.
Great gameplay, great action, great storytelling and overall plot.
By today's standards the game doesn't require much computing power, however, if your system is not relatively new, I would encourage you to read the system requirements on the box before you pick up this title. I remember last year when I played it it was a bit heavy on my then-6-months-old system.
Also keep in mind this game has no multiplayer.
