OK I MAY NOT HAVE PLAYED EVERY '' MORTAL KOMBAT '' GAME OUT THERE - BUT THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ONES YET !!IT IS BASICALLY LIKE '' DEADLY ALLIANCE '' , BUT WITH MORE DIFFERENT CHARACTERS. THE FATALITIES ARE THE SAME, AND WITH THE LOTS OF BLOOD TRADEMARK TOO.. A COOL NEW FEATURE IS A NEW KILLING FATALITY THAT WAS ADDED, CALLED HARA KIRI.. WHICH IS BASICALLY A SUICIDE MOVE BY YOUR OPPONENT,WHEN THEY KNOW THEY ARE GOING TO BE DEFEATED.THERE ARE ONLY A FEW PROBLEMS WITH THE GAME: THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK THE OTHER CHARACTERS, IS TO PLAY THE STORY MODE. PLUS THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE THE KRYPT FEATURE LIKE IN '' DEADLY ALLIANCE '' .WHERE YOU GAIN COINS FOR THE GUYS YOU DEFEAT,THAT CAN BE USED TO BUY STUFF IN THE GAME, WHICH CAN BE VERY EXPENSIVE TOO.INSTEAD THEY SHOULD DO LIKE MOST GAMES DO, TO UNLOCK THE EXTRA CHARACTERS YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE GAME'S FINAL BOSS. AND ALSO THEY SHOULD MAKE THE NEW COSTUMES AVAILABLE FOR CHARACTERS YOU ARE USING , AFTER YOU BEAT THE GAME WITH THEM. AND LASTLY THEY SHOULD HAVE HAD OLDER CHARACTERS INCLUDED IN THE GAME LIKE: SONJA BLADE,KITANA, GORO,NOOB SAIBOT, AND OTHER OLD CLASSIC CHARACTERS.. BUT ALL IN ALL THE GAME IS A LOT OF FUN..SO IF YOU WANT A COOL FIGHTING GAME,THAT IS NOT A RUN OF THE MILL ONE , THEN GET YOUR COPY TODAY.YOU'LL REALLY LOVE IT !!!

Kung Lao, Quan Chi, and Mavado-- three playable characters from the last Mortal Kombat game-- didn't make it into the Mortal Kombat: Deception lineup. However, you can play as Dairou. His fighting styles are Wing Chun (one of Mavado's fighting styles from the last game), Escrima (one of Quan Chi's fighting styles), and his weapon is his Autumn Dao sword (which controls almost exactly like Kung Lao's broadsword).
That pretty much sums up what you get with Deception: a remix edition of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. Only six of the eighteen characters from the previous game return for the sequel. The rest are replaced by either lame characters from older MK games (any Tanya fans out there?) or lame new characters that were cobbled together from the leftover parts of Deadly Alliance. There are a couple of fan favorites, like Baraka or Mileena, who make their long-awaited return here, but they're lumped in with the likes of like Kira (imagine if Kano and Sonya Blade had a daughter) and Kobra (the spawn of Johnny Cage and Sonya... she's been around the block, I guess...).
But to make up for the laughably uninteresting cast of characters, Deception's battlegrounds provide the extra personality the game needs. Instead of the the big boring circular arenas of Deadly Alliance, players get to knock each other over ledges, through walls, and into gigantic, over-the-top death traps. A carefully-placed uppercut can quickly turn a losing match to your advantage if you happen to be fighting next to a huge metal press or a pit of acid. One particular level features prisoners who will reach through the bars of their cells to hold your opponent while you get in a cheap shot. As a nod to longtime fans of the series, the prisoners consist of the absolute worst characters ever to appear in a Mortal Kombat game (Stryker? Ha!).
I wouldn't be surprised to see most of the cast of Deception thrown in the cells for the next game, though.
KABAL all the way !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Mk games, so i bought this one. I don't know why, this game is just not a great game. It is not a bad game, but I honestly would rather play the first MK on game boy color. This game is only fun the first ten minutes or so. This game isn't worth more than 5 dolors, but that is only my opinion.
I don't agree with the first review at all.........

So far I'm very disapointed with the konquest on this game...the character is almost impossible to control accurately and the graphics are pretty lame.
Try another MK game but forget this one....Armageddon and S'Monks are way way better.
Good but not recommended

I purchased the title because I am a collector; especially of the classic arcade games, street fighter, samarai showdown, art of fighting and so on. But unless you are a true fan this title isn't much fun.

I'm a big fan of the MK game series and this new game is so amazing. More brutal fatalities and better control of your character. Lots of stuff to buy in the krypt and have a blast with Chess and Puzzle Kombat. The new fatalities are easy to do and beating the game is very easy instead of nearly impossible in the older games. If you're a fan of MK game series please buy it now and have a blast.

Already reported to be online, this game is just getting better and better every year. Now, with the new online mode, this game will be even more better that the last. Returning characters, Kabal, Baraka, Kitana and Sindel will also be a massive feature to the game. This is probably the first online fighting game to come out, and with the rates of what Midway produeced this year, who knows what MK6 will be instore for us.
This game is loking good, only a month left for it's release, MK6 will be the best fighting game of 2004/2005 if it succeeds.

Ok let me first tell u that this game rocks. The konquest mode is awsome you run around learning how to fight with certian characters. Also You can unlock peole by finding keys in chests and go unlock things in the krypt. In the krypt you can unlock things from stupid photos to other characters and the alternate costumes. Your person that yu play in konquest ,sujinko, will be unlocked at end of the konquest mode. when he is unlocked you go run around in the worlds looking for yingyan symbols that unlock hes special moves or u need 2 beat a chearater in mortal kombat. The fighting mode is awsome as well with the multi teired lvls and the death traps. You can unlock 12 characters and you start with 12. My fav. chars r ermac, jade, radin, sujinko, and of course sub zero + scorpian. The online play is awsome. you get to play chess, puzzle or vurses kombat. The little side ames are fun. puzzle is like tetris with mini fatalitys if u win 2 out of 3 rounds. the chess is just SOOOOOO ez to win so i dont play that much
