If you are interested in Kingdom Hearts, start here

I am writing this review, because there are probably some people who will soon become interested in the handheld side-stories but have never played Kingdom Hearts or KH2 yet. If that is you, you probably want to know whether you can jump into the new installment, or start from the beginning. I would encourage you to start from the beginning if you have a PS2 or PS3. If you don't have a PS2 or PS3, play KH:Chain of Memories on GBA, and read stuff online to understand the story of KH1. Despite the attempts to recap the story (like the intro of KH2), you will probably feel lost without playing KH before KH: COM or KH2.
From what is currently known about the stories for the 2 upcoming games, 358/2 Days for DS and Birth by Sleep for PSP, you probably need to play KH2 to truly understand them. You don't have to worry about spending too much, KH and KH2 are both great games and now 20 bucks each. Buy this game and welcome to the Kingdom Hearts Club.

This game is awesome and while the game is fun (run around with goofy and donald, your support characters and beat the crap outta heartless) the storyline is amazing! I wouldnt be supriesed if a movie came out based on this game!!!!!

Really fun game with a few problems

This game is really fun. The graphics are amazing, as well as the voices. I like the characters and worlds, although there's a Boss around every corner! Some other really annoying cons include:
-The music in Traverse Town
-The camera views
and, finally,
-Having to wait for the animation to play to get a potion to work.
Besides those, overall I like the game. As of 9/12/04 I'm in Atlantica & loving it, but maybe I'll be saying something else later!

Complicated, but FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNN!!!

I love this game, but it is very complicated, so I needed some help from my friend. I reccomend it if you are good at adventure games. The point of the game is to travel to different worlds (Traverse Town, Deep Jungle (Tarzan), Monstro (Pinnochio)........), HalloweenTown (HalloweenTown) and defeat heartless to lock worlds. Once you lock a world, you usually get a keyblade (weapon), a gummi piece (for your gummi ship), sometimes you learn a magic spell like fire, blizzard, gravity, stop((r)a)/(aga), and you earn the ability to fly (or warp, once you earn the gummi) to a different world. Every time you almost lock a world you battle a leader. Sometimes, the leader is a heartless, but sometimes the leader is an evil Disney character. I am still not finished with the game after playing for at least 2 months, but my friend is on the last world (I'm not sure how you spell it or what Disney character is in it but this is it)- Hallow Bashin. Overall, I think this is a great game.

One of my most addicting games

This was a fun and simple game. I liked how there were so many options, like how you can make your own gummi ship and you can go to any world you want. I also like the graphics and the landscapes. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was because the controls are too simple. It gets kind of boring pressing X all time. But besides that, this game is very fun no matter what age you are.

my favorite game

this is my favorite game ever. even before i first played it at my friend's house i knew i had to buy it. it was the songs and the scenes which grabbed me at first, especially the theme song, and once i started playing it i knew i HAD to get it. i love everything about the game, espcially the way the Disney characters interact with the whole plot. The character are unforgettable and the villians are completely original. It may seem like a little kiddy game but it definetly is not. anyone who likes Disney or Square should definetly get this game. I already beat the game once but I went back to get everything that i missed, and its worth it. I wish that there was more to it so I could play it more. Its really a great game. I can't wait for the sequel.

A Disney/Squaresoft Masterpiece

This game is truly one of the best games I have ever played. It has terrific graphics, a great blend of disney and squaresoft characters, and it's storyline is incredible! There are many different disney worlds to go to, and lots of stuff to do on each one. Another great thing about it is that it's not too short, it keeps you playing for quite a while with it's many bosses. This is definitely one of my best games.

by far the best game that i've ever played!!

when i first saw this, i thought it was gonna be the most retarded, cheez-iest game that i've ever played.when i looked at the cover, i rated it on the fact that it had donald and goofy on the cover. but when i popped it into the PS2, i watched the intro, and was in absolute AWE. 4 years later, it's still my favorite game, along with CoM, and kh2. this game, you can play over, and over again. i've even gotten one of my friends to play it as her first video game, and she was addicted to it.

characters: the characters are very loveable, and some of them are pretty dang HOT! and the disney characters somehow fit right in. who would've thought that donlad and goofy could beat the crap uout of Could?

storyline: a WONDERFULL storyline! it's about how a kid is trying to find his lost friends. sounds familliar, doesn't it? well it has an odd twist to this. i wouldn't tell, couse it would spoil the main plot for some of you.

graphics: AMAZING graphics. we're talking about a 2002 game that came out soon after the ps2. it's amazing how square can do that with a (once) reletively new system.

i love this game, and am soo glad that i bought it. just beware, 'cause it is REALLY addicting!

Good game but a little frustrating

The ability to run around the Disney worlds that we've grown to love is a very cool feature to this game. To interact with characters from the movies, with a few Final Fantasy characters thrown in, is pretty dang cool. The game has some nice visuals and decent bosses. The camera angles are fairly worthless and the controls are bad enough that you'll never quite get used to them even after hours of play. The weaponry is decent and the choices are definitely there. My only real complaint about the game is that Square Enix doesn't really allow you to use their characters throughout the game. The Disney character are the only ones you can use. I kept wanting to rock it up with Cloud from FF7. But this sadly isn't really an option. You only really get Donald and Goofy as companions. But aside from that, great game and definitely worth playing all the way through.

A wonderful game for any age group

Although it may be too difficult for children under eight, most children, teens, and many young adults enjoy "Kingdom Hearts." Although there is some dark content in this game, it is much less than most of the popular games today and most enjoyed the challenge. My nephews, cousins, friends, and many of the children I have watched over the years had fun playing "Kingdom Hearts." I even had allot of fun playing it and the kids had fun watching me trying to figure out how to work the controller. It takes many hours to win the game, especially if they want to put in the extra effort to get the bonus at the end of the game, so they get more entertainment for the money.
