I got this game for my 10 year old basically for me. He is at the age when he is putting aside Disney and similar things and heading into Age of Empires and Lord of the Rings. So it is indeed surprising that based on everything else he got for Christmas-THIS is the game he has been playing.

I've never seen Final Fantasy, but the graphics are truly amazing. The game play seems straight forward but interesting. And while the battles are there, there seems to be a minimum of more the more mature aspects. I mean how terrible can it be battling with Goofy and Donald Duck.

I would recommend this game to anyone tired of the Kombat type games. You might be surprised.

Disney? Squaresoft! You Bet!

I dont actually believe in writing a review of a product until I have played and finished it, that being said, I finished this game in 30 hours and enjoyed every moment of it. The two entertainment giants, Disney and Squaresoft, have collaborated on a project that is genius in execution and fabulous in design. This game is a captivating and enjoyable romp through some of the most colorful and memorable worlds that Disney has placed on screen. We are taken everywhere from Halloween Town to the belly of Monstro the whale. All the while, I was engrossed with the story and eagerly devoured the hints and clues that floated my way.
Many will dismiss this game based upon the involvement of Disney Interactive. Traditionally a gaming division that caters to children with cutesy characters, many will be quick to look over this title and forget about its offerings. For those who choose to ignore the labels placed upon this wonderul piece of software, they will be pleasantly surprised with the high-quality of animations and gameplay that it presents.
Although this game is developed by Squaresoft, makers of the popular "Final Fantasy" games, that is where all similarities end. "Kingdom Hearts" is wonderfully refreshing in that evidence of its battle system. It all happens in real time, and the action is everywhere on the screen. The camera moves with quick and consice movements that only add to the action and immerse the players in the frenzied and wild battles. This game is fun for children, familiar characters and lush visuals take care of that angle. Yet it is also difficult. I found myself pressing the "continue" button quite often, throwing myself into yet another heated battle with the Heartless.
All being said and done, this game stands out as a unique and refreshing addition to any game library. I am pleased and impressed with the quality of this product and hope to see a sequal sometime in the near future. I highly reccomend this game to action/adventure fans, as well as RPG gamers. Not really fitting into one category completely, "Kingdom Hearts" has elements and additions that will appeal to any gamer who takes the time to see past the boxshot and is willing to dive into one of the best adventures yet. This game deserves all the accolades that it gets, and is solid in its design and execution...definatley deserving of its best-seller and 5-star status!

This game is great, it's like the new generation of RPG. I get sick of the static RPG where everyone stands around while one person does something, well now you and your NPCs can all be active. If this is what FFX2 is like, I will deffinitely love it. Bring on more Square games, their animation is beautiful. in fact, bring on more Square movies, bring on more Kingdom Hearts. I look forward to playing this one through again.

Cool Game

For one thing, don't look past this game as soon as you see the word Disney. It's every bit an RPG, and it is addictive. All the Final Fantasy characters made it cool, even if some of the Disney characters (mainly Donald and Goofy), were somewhat annoying. I have to admit, all of the Disney worlds brought back memories as well(I was thrilled that they included an Alice in Wonderland world!) It's not difficult by any means, but it's really interesting. If you don't think you're going to like it, at least rent it and you can be sure you will get into it!

You've got Disney in my Squaresoft! Well you've got Squaresoft in my Disney!

One of the most unexpectedly enjoyable games I've played in quite a long time. Squaresoft hasn't made a decent action RPG for several years but makes up for it with this effort.

Pros:

-Excellent voice acting
-Incredible graphics
-Realistic sound effects (usually this doesn't stand out in a video game, but here it does)
-Great for when you want plenty of action and just get down to smashing stuff
-Battle system is rather simplistic but loads of fun. Especially once the familiar Disney enemies show up. Finally some innovation when it comes to bosses.

Cons:

-Incredibly cheesy story, even for Square standards
-Areas often look great but yet rather dull (Monstro/Pirate Ship)
-Wonderland gets botched (though the bizarre room is interesting)
-Music is VERY repetitive (please god, get Under the Sea outta my head)

It is just great

I just cant stop playing this game. Everything is great, the music, the graphics, the action. The gummy ship may not fit into the game, but maybe is the best way to travel.

This is one of my best games... ever

Please be a good person i need to know=(

This game is soooo much fun! i could play for days and days and still have a ton of fun!! It has many challenges, but is still a very cool game to play.
You start by choosing your destiny. But no matter which weapon you choose at the beginning, you will always get the keyblade.
During this game, you encounter several Disney villians, as well as many Disney characters, like Winnie the Pooh, Ariel the Little Mermaid, Ursula, Peter Pan, and many more.
You go to a jungle world where you meet Tarzan, Jane, and battle Clayton. In this world, you must fight to save the gorillas.
In Wonderland, you see Alice and the Queen of Hearts in a trial, where you must save Alice from being beheaded.
At the Olympus Coliseum, you must duke it out with some heartless, as well as Hades (later in the game).
In Agrabah, you meet Aladdin and the Genie. You battle Jafar here.
When you go to the Monstro level, Jiminy Cricket is reunited with Pinocchio and Geppetto. You must save Pinocch from Riku here.
In Halloween Town, you meet Jack and Dr. Finkelstein. You go up against Oogie Boogie and his Manor.
When you visit Atlantica, you befriend Ariel, and meet her father King Triton. You also go up against Ursula twice.
While flying around in Neverland, you meet Tinkerbell (who becomes a summon), Peter Pan, and Captain Hook who u battle.
Finally in Hollow Bastion, you face Riku who is also Ansem. You also challenge Maleficient twice.
At the End of the World, you finish the game. You can always return, and kick Ansem's...again and again.
This game really is a lot of fun. I have played it over and over.
It's a great game for kids and adults alike.

Extremely Addictive

They are not kidding when they say this game is addictive. I've been playing it for 80 hours now (not continously, of course), because I don't want to finish it! I love the graphics and especially the cut-to scenes which are like watching Disney movies with a Final Fantasy twist.

The best part is the powers and strength you can gain which give you added technique. This allows you to stay more involved in the game; you never get bored with the same old fighting moves. Plus, the ability to kick butt besides your favorite Disney characters makes this the best PS2 game I've ever played.

Amazing!!

The Combination of nonstop action. the classic Finial Fantasy style storyline, and the nostalgic addition of disney favorites made for an excellent gaming experience. I liked the real time combat and seeing all the classic disney and final fantasy characters together in a completely original and gripping story. A quick warning, if you are looking for a Qute disny style game for the kids then look elsewhere, This is not what you are looking for.

If you enjoy the Final Fantasy series this is definatly a game to check out.
