Alot of developers mix with companies, like Disney, and end up producing games that are only there for the sole purpose of making a quick buck, and ruin the developers name. Squaresoft's bond with Disney in making the game Kingdom Hearts shows just how great a game can be.
This is about a boy, Sora, who wishes to journey off his secluded island with his friends, Riku, and Kairi. Sora lapses into a dream like state where he is shown enemies, called Heartless, the whole beginning is a bit confusing, and is just there to get you used to the mechanics of the game. You begin in Destiny Island, where a mysterious wave and then some transports Sora to another world, where he teams up with Donald Duck and Goofy, who are looking for Mickey Mouse, and the one with the "key." Taking Sora's sword, the Keyblade, to be the "key" the three are off to find Mickey, Kairi, and Riku. Along the way various Final Fantasy characters show up, and plenty of Disney ones, and all of the voices are well done. Almost all the Disney voices are the originals, and those that aren't use talented popular voice actors to get the job done.
Battles are most unusual. It's RPG mets Adventure, if anyone has ever played Threads Of Fate, very similar. Sora can jump, hang, use items, climb, attack, and use magic. Donald and Goofy are run by AI, but one can configure each to get them to do more or less what you want, but they do make excellent damage sponges when you need them to be.
Visually, very impressive, it lacks the "Bam!" visual impact of games like FFX and Onimusha 2 in cinema, but rest assure it's still far above par.
The music is decent, if you love alot of the disney tunes there back, and with each world the battle music is changed to fit the environment.
The controls, actually are easy, there isn't much of a learning curve, it's pretty straightforward. There's levels, as you level up you get more ablilities, attributes, and more spaces in inventory to use items. The camera's aren't great, but they are pretty well done, once in awhile you'll have trouble seeing, but usually walking around in a quick circle will solve that problem.
Now, notice the "Everyone" rating this game has earned. Not entirely true. Alot of people mistake this for a simple platformer where hitting "X" is the only thing involved. Yes, it does involve alot of use of the "X" button, but there are magic spells, jumps, dodge rolls, etc. The game is very much story driven, so don't get this for someone who's 11 years or younger of age, the RPG elements will simply be too far beyond the young age group. Nor, should anyone mistake this as being not good because it has Disney on it, sure, there are people who don't like it, but if you are an RPG fan, this is well worth investing into, and while not the longest game in the world, I don't think anyone could beat it, first time through, over the weekend.
My only grudge, is that characters from FF6, Tactics, and before didn't make it in. "Why?" is my only question.
FF veterans might feel a bit let, and camera angles do get obstructive, but this game more than pulls it's own.
KINGDOM HEARTS is THE greatest RPG ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has got to be the greatest game I have ever seen. It's got good graphics, awesome music and videos, and hear this battle with over 20 different DISNEY CHARACTERS!!! I know it sounds odd (I had my own suspicions too, but hey! Look at all of these game reviews all around me! We all thought Squaresoft(R) had lost it.Oh, there is also plenty of Final Fantasy characters also. {av. star ratings 4 1/2}) This game should be played if you can read a couple of lines(usually age of 6 is the appropriate age range for it is very difficult at some points. No bad language, no blood, no intercourses with the opposite sex, and no drugs and alchohol. Just the right type of game for little ones (this game is rated E for Everyone. thanks Squaresoft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this is one of the best RPG/Action game since The Secret of Mana. It has everything in it: drama, action, fun, humour etc. Of course this game has some disadvantages. But they are minor. It is the first time that Square has created such major game that includes Action and RPG and all that at a high level. I hope that the KH2 will be as much interesting and exiting. And for me KH & KH2 is MUST BUY games.
I think Iim in LOVE!!!!!!!!!

Kingdom Hearts is a one of a kind, awesome game. The storyline is awesome, the sounds are awesome, and the levels too. Besides that you get to play with Disney characters. I mean how can a game get any better than fighting a whole bunch of bad guys with Goofy and Donald. Now stop readin this and order it. Trust me, if you like RPG you'll love this game
A game you can play over and over again.

This is one of the few games that you can play over and over again. It is very long so for the gamer who likes long, strategic games, this is for you. The graphics are very good along with the weapons detail. The fact that Disney and Squaresoft is joining together to make a game is automaticly saying, "Buy me, I am the best game ever!" It's true. The storyline is awsome, except for the ending. If there is not a Kingdom Hearts 2 soon, that will become the worst ending a game could ever have. Simply put...I love this game.

If your a patient gamer this games for you. If not STAY AWAY. This games confusing and not fast pased. The graphics are clear and the controls are great, also the sound adds great reality to the game, but the game is to freakin hard. What do the makers think, the gamers are Einsteins? In this game they rate the level by stars. One being easy, five being hard. Well the stars don't help. The two star boss is fluffy, the three headed dog. How do you beat him? You can't. He bites you (which takes one fourth of your health away) and you cant get on his back in fear of him rearing up. Even the one star boss kicks your butt. It took me two days to beat him. The game consists of many puzzles that take long to figure out. Even with some flaws, this game is great and is a great fighting game (even with a slow pace).

This game is very special. The graphics are amazing. The actions they make are extremely reallistic. The game has money to be used, people to talk to, and a wonderful battle key sword. You enter a world of wonder and yet you may be so fearful as to not enter the game. When I started playing it at my friends house, I couldn't let go of the controller!
