I'm not much for reviewing...I was waiting for this game to come out for a long time and surprisingly it didn't disappoint at all. It's fun and challenging. I would recommend it to anyone over probably age 12 or so. Some of the puzzles are pretty tricky.

Worth being curious about

This is a great game! Its clever, time consuming, challenging. There are puzzles on here for all ages. I can't wait for the next Professor Layton comes out, I heard it should be this year.

Fun and interesting through the end!

So many puzzles! This was a great game to play (often you'd find yourself squeezing in a few puzzles between work breaks and before you go to bed!). Yes some puzzles were incredibly easy, some were just silly, but most were really interesting and fun. Even now, having finished the game approximately 1 month ago, I still download the weekly puzzles to play. I can't WAIT for the sequel!

A fun alternative to the overdone "brain trainers"

Professor Layton is a welcome change to the brain training game genre. It mixes quirky story, point-and-click adventure, and puzzle/brain-teaser all into a single DS title. Many of the puzzles use the stylus to great effect, sometimes asking you to draw pictures, trace paths, rearrange matchsticks, or simply using it to jot down the math required to solve a some algebra question. Fun times for any puzzle game fan.

The Curious Village

I love games thats have puzzles and a good storyline. This game has both. I havnt finished the game yet but I already love it. Some of the puzzles are challenging and some are pretty simple. The story line is very interesting and its nice that it has little "movie" sequences. A downside is that in the begining of the game when the story is begining the words are narrated for you but after that you have to read almost everything. There are many things to do in The Curious Village. You can interact with different characters, visit different locations and find hidden objects such as clue coins and puzzle pieces. All in all I would recommend this game to anyone who likes puzzles and brain teasers. Younger kids may find the game a little difficult (even I have had a few puzzles that I couldnt really figure out and im 19!) but if your looking for a new DS game try this one!

This game is awesome!!!!

This is probably one of the best games I've played on the DS. I've never written a review for ANY game before, but I had to take the time to give kudos to this one. I'm an older gamer, but this game is fun for any age group. It's puzzle range from easy to very challenging, the RPG-ish aspect of the story is fun. It has very entertaining cut scenes, and the bonus features are great too! I haven't even tried the WiFi features yet! All I have to say is that if you're looking for one game to buy, this should be it. I'd have to say that if I made one complaint, it'd be that it's sooo addictive you'll want to sit down and whip right through it. And believe me, with over 130 puzzles (hidden and not) to solve, that's no easy task. I can't wait for the sequal to come out. I'm pre-ordering now!!!

Challenging, entertaining, and whimsical: what more could you ask for?

This is one of the best puzzle games I've ever played. The characters are endearing and fun, the video cutaways are high quality, and the puzzles vary enough to fit any skill level. There are side quests galore, and with the weekly download you can continue playing new puzzles even after the game is over. *A warning: despite it's cute cartoon nature, I wouldn't recommend this game for kids as a lot of the puzzles would probably be way over their heads and lead to endless frustration for them.*

This isn't a high-octane adventure game by any means, so those of you who need constant action may not like the format. But those of you who enjoy being simultaneously entertained and intellectually stimulated will love Professor Layton. It's way more fun than any other brain game out there!

Spectacular game!

Truly an amazing game. It has a great storyline and there are so many mysteries to uncover. The puzzles get challenging during the middle and the end of the game, so dont use the hint coins in the begining. This is the best puzzle game yet, and I cant wait for the sequal to Curious Village, Professor Layton and Pandora's Box.

it all went too fast

I loved this game, counldn't put it down. Unfortunately that made it go too fast--I've solved every puzzle in the game and almost all from downloads. Only one download a week just isn't enough, so now I'm bored with it, but when it was new--ahhhh, it was heaven!

Nice game, brings puzzle solving to a different level. thoughtful, and not a struggle. It is a little hard for my 8 yr old, but he likes to try. together, we can get most of them. better alternative than car racing and shooting the bad guy.
