I love this game. I play this game every chance that I get. There is a lot of hard missions and you'll have to try your hand at them more than once. It takes you by storm. I suggest that you get the walk through book.

Probably the best there is.

Probably the best game for PS2. Not too much to say. An incredibly big map, tons of mission, tons of cars and tons of things of do. While Streets of LA and NY may have in space, this one has it in entertainment. The fun factor, humor and most important, freedom to do whatever you want.
Rockstar always comes out with awesome games. Besides GTA San Andreas you have GTA III, Vice City, Max Payne I and II, Manhunt, The Warriors...geez.

And about detractors...lame, just lame. Using your logic then let's go ahead and start bashing every single movie that isn't for kids. Would you go and see a mature rated movie with your 9 year old? And don't tell me that you are scared your kid may play it. The game has cost 49 dollars for more than a year and now it's starting to go down. If you give your little kid that amount of money you know how he spends it (and you are actually supposed to know what he's doing, since he's a kid). If a 9 year old goes into a store and buys a GTA game, the problem isn't the game, the problem is the parents not knowing what their son is doing. And besides, most of the stores don't sell this game to kids. I'm about to turn 21 and until last years some stores asked for ID. So there's no way a 9 or 10 year old will play this game with parents that have at least a small sense of responsibility. And if he may take it from somewhere, well maybe he can take an inappropriate movie instead. There's always a small risk and it's extremely hard for a kid to live in a bubble nowadays.
If a guy loses his mind and he kills his family and then himself but and listens to Frank Sinatra or Tom Jones, then it's a mental disorder (and it is). But if an 18 year old commits a crime and he plays video games, it's the videogame's fault, right? Stop complaining for no reason.

Buy or die

I will write a guide but this is just a summary on why this game is great.
For starters, this is quite possibly the best game ever made for the PS2. It has a completly real feel even if it includes very mature content. I will do my best to give the pros and cons.

Pros- boy, is their a lot of them. The reason I bought this game is because it has the most realistic feel about it. It includes huge cities to quiant towns. Rockstar(the maker of the game) models most of the scenery to real places in america, from Nevada's desertous feel to the streets of LA. Altough just having such a realistic map that covers a vast area, it's more about the ability to control your character. You can take him to many different shops, Including 3 different clothing lines, a baber shop, a tatto shop, different types of gyms, Fast-food places that serve burgers, pizza, and chicken, clubs, bars, and casinos, all with mini-game like pool, poker, and dancing, gun shops- which are nessesary for the violence in the game, you can even go into police staions, Airports, and hospitals. Whats more is that by doing this you can have a different effect on your character, like becoming fat or thin. In doing such you gain attrubuites like respect, stamina, muscle, sex appeal, weapon skill, driving skill, even the ability to dive underwater. Not only can you buy different things, but you can drive boats, cars, and fly airplanes. The missions are just the cherry on top. They have belivable charcters, even with the outlandish storyline.

Cons- there is only one problem I had with this game- the graphics. The characters regulaly look like blocks or squares. It's easy to get over that.
So, in essence, if you are over 18, and don't already have this game, BUY IT!!

Great game

The game is the anticipated follow up to Vice City and it lives
up to the hype. Great graphics, sound and story enhance San
Andreas.

The game has more missions, more enemies and has a couple
of new innovations like using the gym, eating and being a pimp
to name a few.

Some people might object tothe game but then again, you buy
a game like San Andreas, you know what to expect.

The violence can be a bit over the top and the racist dialogue
in the game might send some conservative gamers elsewhere but
San Andreas is a big hit.

The games price won't lower which is telling you it's a good

The game is great one thing that bothers me is the control it's no more directional buttons but analog which makes it harder to control, but other wise then that the game is long and great and is worth buying oh yeah Not for children.

Don't listen to Joseph Lieberman's review

The review referenced by "Joseph Lieberman" at http://www.somethingawful.com/articles.php?a=2478 is very inaccurate. It doesn't get the story, character names, voice acting, series history and other details about the game correct. It says it has better graphics than the PC/XBOX when it really doesn't. It makes a borderline racist comment. It claims it will break your PSTwo, and it has 1-2 minute loading times for buildings. Both claims are wildly inaccurate. Loading times are around 15 seconds if not less on an ancient PS2. It claims it rips off True Crime: Streets of LA's location. That's becuase Los Santos is modeled after Los Angeles so of course there will be similarities to a game based in LA! I find this game to be highly entertaining and most certainly not for children or adolescents.

One Of The Greatest Games Of All Time

**WARNING** This game contains massive amounts of violence and sexually latent themes. This game should NOT be played by children under the age of 16 or who are not adequately aware of these mature themes and who understand the difference between reality and video games.

With that said, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is one of the greatest video games of all time. With over 170 vehicles, dozens of weapons, and a map so massive that it literally takes almost a half hour to circumvent, this game should keep you occupied for quite some time.

What makes San Andreas better than Vice City and other GTA releases is the sheer volume of side-quests to keep you busy. The standards are all there (Paramedic, Firefighter, Vigilante missions) with some new ones added into the mix (Trucker, Courier, and Freight Train). The story line is fairly thick and stays true to itself straight through the game. While being a mafia outlaw was more appealing than being a street thug gang member, it did have its high points.

New vehicles in the game include a jet pack, fighter jet, and bicycle. New weapons include Pool Cues, a Desert Eagle handgun, and Remote Explosives. New features include Gambling, Pool and Video Games, and a Two Player mode.

I could literally spend hours writing about this game but to spare everyone my overzealous excitement I will simply tell you that this is a game that you must play if you're into action style rpgs. Just be forewarned that the game is incredibly violent but if you don't mind or can look beyond that you will find a truly exciting game.
