Uh... This is the Matrix?

This game is probably the average game. It has good action, dazzling cutscenes, branching paths, spectacular gunplay, and the addition of bullet time.

But on the flipside of the coin is d@#% near impossible driving levels, rough graphics, almost horrible level design, fighting that seems more like watching than playing, and saving screens every few rooms.

Pros:
Great Action/Gunfighting
Wonderful Cutscenes look like they're from the movie
Bullet Time
Braching Paths
Great Voice Acting

Cons:
Driving is horrible
Rough Graphics/Visuals
Terible Level Design
Uninteractive fighting
Length (Awfully Short)
Saving/Loading Screens every few rooms
Monotonus Gameplay

I recommend you rent before you buy.
Or just rent it a few times and not buy it at all.

OK well this game is short, and most people don't like to play on the harder levels. Which you should. I played the game and beat it in 3 days. Just to let you know I beat all three difficulty levels. What they don't tell you is that there are more people in the levels to kill and they don't go down as easy. After playing the first 2 difficulty levels you learn how to beat the agents up easier and also how to different moves with the stake. I played Max Payne to and if you are calling this a short game play Max Payne. I beat it in a day. So everyone else who said the game was to short stop griping. If you want to play with Neo or someone like that beat the harder levels and you won't have to you have. Throughout gameplay you learn all types of new move like bulletdodge, focus shot, and how to beat the crap out of the SWAT Team without using guns. If you like to use codes on the game this game has made it to where it gets very confusing.

Pros.
1.Graphics are amazing
2.Great weapons
3.Storyline
4.Kung-fu fighting

Cons.
1.Short
2.Hard to drive
3.the agents dodge every bullet even while on the ground glitch.

I'd say buy it.

pretty good game

This game was pretty good, and i had a good time beating it, but the camera was shaky and it was too short. i rented this game and beat it in two days, so even though it was a good game, a rental is really better.

Great... But

Enter the Matrix is a great game, very nice graphics, gameplay, sound, fun, and replay value. There happens to be one major flaw, IT IS FAAAR TOO SHORT!! It does what it says it does-help you understand the movie better-but, they could have put alot more into it.The game itself is very fun, but for me, the Hack Mode is also alot of fun (I like computers and complicated software.) I spent pretty much more time in the Hack Mode than playing the game. There are so many ways to explore, to find so many things. Now, lets get back to the game. The weapons are of great variety and very detailed. You can't pass the levels without thinking, wich makes it fun for me. You won't be able to breeze through the game, without trying some things a couple of times to get past a part. The driving is very, very fun (for me.) The second flaw of the game is the multiplayer mode. You can't use focus and are very limited to how far of the levels you can explore. Many moves that are alot of fun to use on opponents in single player, dissappear. There are also no weapons in multiplayer. Over all, if you like the Matrix series get this, or just rent it, finish it, then return it.

Very Disappointing

As a Matrix fan myself, I was very eager to get this game. When it finally came out, I bought it immediately and was extremely disappointed. The gameplay is boring and repetitive with very little detail and effort put into everything besides the characters. The game would have been great, except for the horrible graphics and gameplay. The story is not a porblem since it is that of the Matrix trilogy. The fighting is a button-smasher's dream, since you just need to smash the mouse to beat up 10 SWAT guys.

With few missions that were actually fun, I can't say that this deserves more than 2 stars. I think the Wachowski brothers should stick to movies, not games.

Gameplay - 1/5
Graphics - 2/5
Sound - 2/5
Fighting - 1/5
Story - 5/5

Fun First But It Quickly Gets Old

Believe me: this game has NO replay value. All right, I know its cool the first time, and you can do some cool moves ( including with guns), but the levels are really horrible. I'm sure Atari tried to make a little diversity with the levels (Ghost and Niobi both venture around different parts of the level), but it's basically the same. The multiplayer is really stupid, too. You basically walk around in a little room with another person, no guns or focus, and "battle", although that might be an over statement. The game is really short, too. It takes no time at all to beat. I beat it in three hours. So please listen to me. Enter the Matrix is a waste of your money, so at the most, rent it, and then return it as quickly as possible.

a thrilling ride one of the best PS2 games I've played!!!!!

I loved this game it is a great addition to the Matrix trilogy. the first time I played it i thought it would be great, but when I played it, it was even better then I thought it would be. if you don't have this game you should get it its almost as if you were in the movie itself with all the cool combos you can do while your in foucs trust me you should get it!!!!

Fans of Matrix should rent, otherwise pass. ¡Get Animatrix!

As I'm already a fan of The Matrix, I had to play this game. I rented it to see if I liked it enough to purchase. I enjoyed playing the game, despite sub-par graphics and cheesy story-line. The animations are actually horrible, especially hands and arms. I had just decided that I would plop down the $30 to get it when the game was over, however. I was very disappointed :( . . . After playing to the conclusion (hard mode), I decided to try the hacking. The game-play becomes boring and formulaic, without challenge. The hacking itself was simplistic and tedious. I have to admit, however, that the sword was pretty darn cool!

Overall, I would say if you are a fan of The Matrix then you should rent this game just for the tidbits that tie it in to the movies. Don't buy it, though. Your money would be much better spent on a copy of Animatrix. It actually lives up to the hype that this game recieves, where the game falls flat on its face.

If you are looking for fun Matrix storyline, Animatrix is the way to go. If you are looking for engaging gameplay, look somewhere else. Jak II or Rachet & Clank: Going Commando are light years beyond this game, and Max Payne actually pulls off some of the things this game fails to deliver on...

Don't buy this game, rent it if you must play, but save your money for something that is actually worth it

Only good at a glance

This was one my most anticipated games of 03 and unfortunately doesn't end up on my top ten. I bought it expecting a fun blow up ride through the machine world of the Matrix with it's fancy fx and bullet-time. It has all that, and at first the game is smooth with pretty good graphics, but overtime it lagged. The same thing with the shooting and kicking and punching and every level lasts about 2 minutes before reaching a save point. There's actually one level (I can't believe it's considered one) where you walk three steps and it ends. I am a Matrix fan, but this was somewhat of a dissapointment. The cutscenes are really good and have potential, but for almost copying The Matrix Reloaded they could have included the main characters (Neo, Trinity, Morpheous). The hacking program is somewhat of interest but it is somewhat pointless. It takes around 4-5 hours to beat and once you finish, you'll want to shelve it.

Good, but game freezes! ARG!

I Love the levels of the game that I can PLAY, but in the airport levels, in catching a plane with Niobe or control tower 2 with Ghost, It just freezes up. Other people have had this problem too.
