I have had Rogue Spear for about 2 months now. And the best word you can use to describe it is REALISTIC. If you have ever played RAINBOW SIX (the game Rogue Spear continues from), you already have an idea of how awesome it is. But Rogue Spear is not what RAINBOW SIX was... it is much better. You are a counter terrorism team assigned to rescue hostages and successfully complete objectives in full-detail 3-D worlds. And the terrorists are not stupid. They will act to your every move, they will hide to ambush you, duck your shots, shout things at you, and take cover when they need to reload their guns. You can play missions during the day, night, or even with weather effects such as snow, fog, and rain! All of these things add to how realistic the game is. You can play over the internet in multiplayer mode with up to 16 people playing at a time! With so many weapons to choose from (frag grenades, smoke grenades, heart beat sensors, flashbangs, and more) you will be playing multiplayer over and over again. Multiplayer mode is so realistic, that when you hear a gun being fired, you can tell what gun it is. When you see a gun in someones hand, you can tell what gun it is. Frag grenades make more noise than ever in this unbelievable game! You can talk to people on your team in multiplayer mode using the BOUND KEYS that can be specified in your "OPTIONS" section of Rogue Spear. Order your team-mates to get down, take cover, cover your back, use a frag grenade, retreat, and much much more. No first person shooter even compares to Rogue Spear. Not even Goldeneye 007 (popular game for Nintendo 64). Rogue Spear is so real and addictive, like Red Storm Entertainment states on the back of the box, you will be shouting "tango down!" in your sleep for weeks! Don't wait... buy this game!

As a military person I can tell you this is extremely authentic.
If you've played the original 'Rainbow Six' you'll automatically notice the changes... -Better artificial intelligence (they are TOO realistic and SMART) -Improved characters (they act just like human beings...you see eyes blink, breath in cold air, and they even LIMP, drag their LEG, etc. when shot! )
This is not a typical 'shoot em up' doom type game...it's real world folks. One shot can and usually does kill you. The good thing is it's only a game and you can lead teams (up to 5 per team with a max of 4 teams if a mission supports it). I have limited space here, but it is very addictive, fun and an involving view into real world anti-terrorism!

I loved Rainbow Six, but it definitely lacked some major points. First of all, I read the book, and I was dissapointed that the game didn't have snipers. Also, there weren't many guns at your disposal, and the repetitive use of one gun was common. But, Rougue Spear fixes both of these problems, giving a sniper and many more guns. Also, In the original, I really wanted a snow mission, but there was none offered. But, there are three snow missions in this game, and there are even foot prints in the snow, and you can see your mens' breath. Multiplayer is geat, but guns still poke out of doors, defeating a bit of the realism the game has. But, the game is super realistic, and I would tell anyone who thought that the first one was fun, to buy this game for themselves for Christmass!

This game is the best real life simulation combat game I've played (well not 100% realistic but it's as close as it gets, i guess). Actually it's the best game I've played, period. I tried Rainbow 6 once but didn't like it: too complex and took too much time to plan and set up a mission. This one is awesome: missions are already planned and all you have to do (if you want) is just plunge in the action. On the other hand if you like you can reject the default plan and come up with your own. Moving around is soooo much easier than with rainbow 6: you can move crouched and peek around corners and these are both great enhancements. I use them a lot and saved my posterior in more than one risky occasion. And of course there's "terrorist hunt": you can replay a mission with thirty baddies around and no hostages: it's the ultimate shootout-hunting match. It's worth every penny it costs! GOOD JOB GUYS!

The enchancements R6 Rogue Spear, over the first, make this sequel a winner. The graphics are superb, the sounds are spectacular and the upgraded AI isn't gonna make it easy for anyone to just waltz by blazing their guns. It's not another "shoot-em-up" a-la Quake genre -- not even close.
Here you have to seriously plan out your mission to be able to survive and accomplish your objectives. The settings are nicely rendered and really are a treat. Throw in the ability for free Internet Multiplayer +PLUS+ all the (free) add-on's (Weapon Mods, Modified Maps, etc) and you've got yourself a sweet game that'll have you sitting in front of your PC for hours. I think Rogue Spear takes from it's other game, Rainbow Six, which I think is a great game. They made lots of improvements on the game like more awesome guns, better graphics, and great special sound effects like the terrorists suffering in pain when dying. Also, they have added some great special effects like black marks when frag grenades blow up, and a really big flash when flashbangs go off. I would recommend this game to fans that prefer action-strategy games and especially Rainbow Six fans. Red Storm Entertainment and South Peak Interactive should give themselves a pat on the back for such a wonderful game. Great job guys!

I don't play a lot of games. I normally get bored with the ones I do play in about a week. In my 18+ years of playing computer games, this is the first exception. I am honestly addicted. Last night I dreamed I was on the RAINBOW team, no lie. I need help!
I played Syphon Filter for the first time last week and loved it for its "James Bond" atmosphere. Naturally, being the computer geek that I am, I wanted to find a similar game for the PC. I heard some of the reviews for Rogue Spear and it sounded OK. Boy, was *I* misinformed. Not only OK, but incredible.
1. Great graphics - attractive and detailed. 2. Great opposition - The enemy actually thinks. The AI (Artificial Intelligence) is astounding. Only after you've played the game for WEEKS without end, you MIGHT think the computer is predictable. - The bad guys are always positioned randomly. This add immensely to the playability. What's fun about playing a board and always knowing exactly where the bad dudes are gonna be? 3. Great strategy. - A flawless attack will entail 10 minutes for the attack and an hour of planning. This is NOT Quake. However, for those who like to jump right in, it is often advantageous to actually play the mission a few times right away to get a better mental image of the map before hitting the drawing board. After this, you can plan your assault down to minute details. 4. Great weapons and equipment:
- Frag grenades (great for those places where you simply CAN'T get an angle on Mr. Terrorist) - Flashbangs for blinding the enemy. Watch out, though, because they'll blind YOU too if you're not careful to look away or get behind a wall. The retinal "artifact" is really cool, as is the ringing in your ears after detonation if you're too close. (They call them flashbangs for a reason!) - Heartbeat sensors are immensely useful and often necessary. However, juggling HBS and primary weapon is difficult to master. - Sniper rifles. While very cool, they're not as useful in as many missions as I'd like.
Now, I'm no professional terrorist killer, but I can only assume that this has got to be the closest to the real thing you can get. You can (and, no doubt, WILL) get capped by a single shot. And it's darn scary--and, not to mention, frustrating--to be sneaking around, 30 seconds from mission success, only to be dropped by some camping terrorist jerk! But, that's the way it goes; you'll just have to be more careful next time. And you'll ALWAYS want to try again, even though it may get frustrating.
The only negative aspect I could find with this game is that the enemy are WAY too accurate. I've often been dropped by a shot to the head from 100 yards by a Hawaiian-shirted drug dealer with a 9mm pistol, and then only a second after he's rounded a corner and spotted me. However, I've heard their are MODs available that will curb this "over-accuracy."
Do your self a favor. In fact, do us ALL a favor and buy this game. Buy it for yourself because it's an amazing game that's cheap at twice the price. But also buy it for all of us so that Redstorm Entertainment can continue to make software of this caliber.

This is the best PC game ever made. Hands down. No game even holds a candle to Rogue Spear. If you are wondering why this game is so good then see my reveiw for Rainbow Six. Then to add on to it I thought that it was impossable to improve R6 even more. Well Red Storm proved me wrong. The graphics are 100% better, the gameplay is more smooth, more guns, more opritives,a map editor, and beutiful levels with new mission plans. Just wait till you see the mission where you have to go into kosovo after a major bombing. It is FANTASTIC. There is so much attention to detail it is crazy. You can hide in numerouse places and go into a bell tower that looks like Saving Private Ryan. This is the best game for internet multiplayer action too. If you get this game you have to get on the MSN gaming ZONE and test your skills with players all over the world. Overall this has to be the best game on PC ever! And soon Red Storm is coming out with the expansion set for Roge Spear. Rogue Spear: The Urban Operations. I CANT WAIT!

this game is so freaking awsome! the mission is to save people, not kill everybody in the level unlike games like quake and doom and it requires you to think, use your brain and not just be a mindless pyscopath on a killing spree. and the demographic is great there are people from all over the world on your team and so are the terrorists its not racist in any way like "all the americans are good and all the soviets are bad". if amazon had a game of the year vote, this would get mine.

I would surely rate this game as the best tactical game ever made. What is striking is the succes the Red Storm has had in blending top level realism and good playability. The game is structured around a basic storyline where the Rainbow anti-terrorist organisation is hunting down a terrorist organization. You have to complete 15 levels (too few from my point of wiew) in order to accomplish your mission. Each level has a planning phase where you select the team members from a force pool, choose theyr equipment and decide the action plan. A nice feature is the "Default option", so that you can go thru this phase in as little as five seconds and jump directly into action. Once the game has started you can swich between any one of you teams, a feature that enables for an incredible flexibility.
From the REALISM point of wiew this game lacks almost nothing, exept for the flexibility of the AI. When you have played the same level a few times you realize that the terrorits are always in similar positions, and it is very easy to simply pin point every one of them. Anyway I believe that this is not to be considered a major shorfall in the game, since you are not be supposed to try over and over a mission before getting it right! Another thing I believe is great in the game is the great variety of weapons avaylable, all of them with different characterisics. This feature gives you the opportunity to customize you team and the action plans very easily, giving you the option of trying the same scenarios over and over again experimenting different tactics. Also very interensting are the TONS OF MODS FILES avaylable on the web. You can get anything from an automatic grenade launcher to a Star Wars stormtrooper laser blaster. Even if these weapons are not exactly what you would find in anti-terrorist units, they nonetheless add a completely new level to the game.
Anyway, I believe that the best feature of the game is THE MULTIPLAYER OPTION. This is absolutey pure fun! The game is incredibly more interesting once you are playing against real humans on the web. The multiplayer version actually SEEMS A COMPUTER PAINTBALL GAME. Having played paintball for a few years I guarantee you that by playing this game you get most of the experience of paintball! You soon end up playing hours after hours of totally different games, finding players of different skill levels.
The MISSION EDITOR, included in the game, adds another level of flexibility to the game (if you have the time and the will to learn how to use it). However, if you are interesetd, there are some free manuals on how to use the editor on the web.
I also suggest you buy the expansion packs avayable from Red Storm, since they give you completely new levels (a little too few, actually! ) and weapons to play with.
My suggestion? Buy it now and see ya at M-player.com!
