When Halo was first unveiled at the 1999 MACWORLD expo, it amazed gamers everywhere with its stunning graphics. Yes, Halo was originally a "killer ap" for the MACINTOSH, the game that would have proven the MAC's superiority to the all bug-ridden, user-unfriendly PC systems. The new iMAC was clearly capable of amazing feats that PC fanboys could only dream about.
Then Bungie sold out.
I've played both the X-BOX and PC versions at the local games store and I can safely say they're both bitter disappointments. The game is only a shadow of its former self - wasted potential that could have blossomed into something beautiful on the MAC. The final game's grahics have obviously been toned down significantly to work on the PC, and it looks nowhere near as good as the early MACWORLD screenshots. The controls are also pointlessly difficult- the PC game could barely hold my attention for five minutes.
In fact, the only thing good about this game is that it converted millions of PC fanboys worldwide to convert to a Superior System.
Long live the MAC! ^_^
I LOVE THIS GAME..........

This game is so fun it's crazy. Playin it online is amazingly fun and addictive. Time will go by so fast that you'll forget to eat and sleep. This game also has new vehicles and weapons that the X-Box version didnt have. Don't come complaining to me when you forget to buy your family gifts for holidays because you were playing this game. If you buy this game it is money well spent because it will provide you with endless hours of fun. You'll fall in love with this game. BUY THIS GAME... LISTEN TO ME... BUY THIS GAME... YOUR LIFE WILL FEEL COMPLETE... BUY THIS GAME... later.

To put it plain and simple, Halo is about the worse fps I've played. Normally I love first person shooters but this one didn't even deserve 10 minutes of play time. I started the single player mode and I ended with the single player mode about 30 minutes later. To start out with, the graphics really are lame. Even with all the settings maxed the graphics reminded me of the 1999 Deus Ex wich had bad graphics for it's time. Next, the AI (or lack there of) is really pitiful. It consisted of sometimes running away. That's about it. The person with the bigger and faster gun wins. That happens to always be you. The story leaves something to be desired also. I'm glad I didn't pay money for this pitiful excuse of a game. Get UT 2004 instead for online play and wait for HL 2 for single and multiplay.

Alright, I understand companies need to make money, but they should not have put halo on PC. Should have stayed on xbox where it belongs. After two years of the game being out, any one who really wanted it would have bought an xbox and played it there. The graphics are not "souped up for pc". They are shakey and choppy because A) the game was ported, and sloppily. Plays infinetly smoother on xbox B) meant to be played with a controller, not a mouse, so it jerks all over the place if you move to quickly.
HALO 2 will be on xbox first, and then the same thing will happen: they will put it on PC to earn some quick cash. That's it. You want halo? Buy an xbox. Blah.
pretty good

halo is a very fun game, but there are a few problems with it. it doesn't have coop, which was a great feature on the xbox. and also, the people online are sometimes jackasses. you can ban/kick them, but you need to make the "Target" in halo's propertys to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\halo.exe" -console and then you can activate the console by hitting ` and you need to type in sv_players then see the offending players "number" at the right side of the screen, then type in sv_ban that persons number ,so anyways, if you like FPS then get halo.
Slowest online play in the world

This version of Halo is really frustrating. In addition to all the other frustrations voiced, the online play is horrendous. It is the slowest first person shooter online of any game I've played. And I've played a ton of them. I had a straight ethernet hookup to my campus's network. My average bandwidth was about 2.7 Meg/sec. That's about 20 times the average bandwidth of DSL (I'm talking average, not peak). I have a 2.4 Gig processor with 512 meg ram and a radeon 9600 video card. I was STILL having lag. It was almost comical it was so bad sometimes. If I was hosting, I would find that the poor people who had DSL or, heaven forbid, dial-up would be shooting in a totally different direction than where I was because the network didn't update our positions quickly enough. Anyone who has this game knows what I'm talking about.
The real travesty of this game is that the multiplayer maps are INCREDIBLE. They are 10 times better than Halo for Xbox, which is why this game is so frustrating: you have no chance to fully enjoy playing your friends because the whole multiplayer experience is just one big lagfest. To get a better idea of how unpopular this has become, go to bungie.net and click on their link to Halo for PC. Take a quick gander at how many people are playing at any given time. I just checked and it was 2455. This is worldwide, mind you. Doesn't that seem rather low? Even now, over 10 times that many people are playing Starcraft, a dinosaur compared to Halo.
I have sold my copy of Halo PC to some poor schmoe. (Sorry, poor schmoe). Someday maybe in 100 years when I have bionic implants to sustain my pathetic life and the world is on a fiber optic network, you will catch me playing Halo for PC. In the meantime, I guess Starcraft will have to do... For Adun!
Better MP Then On XBOX

Halo on PC is a better Multi-Player (MP) game then it is on XBOX.
Not much more to write but if you like MP games then this is a definite buy, but i'm not to sure about SP (Single-Player) because i beat it on XBOX but i'm sure that it is just as good
so if you like MP games (or just want halo and don't have an XBOX) then you should buy this game for the PC
One of the Best PC games on the Market

This game is a must have for anyone that enjoys sci-fi action. The best part of Halo is the multiplayer, if you can choose the right server to enter, a server without lagg or uncooperative people, and that will make the greatest game you have ever played. And believe me there are some good servers out there with cooperative people, that hardly if not at all swear. I don't think any game will ever beat Halo. Just that fact that you can drive 5 different vehicles is neat. The maps are great, i really enjoy the landscape. The only game i think of that compares to this is Max Payne. This is a Must have.
Which is which?

The Halo game on Xbox is fun! But the Halo on Xbox does have multiplayer online, you may want to buy 2 xbox if you have more then 2 kids! Don't forget that this gamming system won't enable DIAL-UP. DSL/CABLE modem or you could plug the ethernet cable from the Xbox to the ethernet wall patch! On Halo Xbox you can't play with other people around the globe!

Now here is the PC Halo differnts between Halo on Xbox
Computers and video game systems are almost alike! But computers have more capablity of playing more games then gaming systems! HALO PC Requriments 733MHz 32MB video card 128MB of SYSTEM RAM. Celeron Computers and AMD atholon computers are not RECOMENDED. And why? because Celeron is horrible at playing games! AMD can make the game choppy and so can Celeron! Pentium 3 or a Pentium 4 is recommended. It needs to be higer then 800MHz other wise the detal looks very bad. Depends on what video card you have. HALO PC is alot of fun!
My computer: 1.60GHz Intel Pentium 4 512MB of RAM 128MB NVIDIA GeForce FX5200 grapihcs card!
Perhaps there are no terrific graphics, but look closer....

This game, while three years old, still manages to impress myself and my friends. We have distinct taste in games, and are not impressed easily. As such, we were not all that thrilled with the slightly (very, very slightly) outdated graphics. But once we played for a little while, our jaws slipped ever closer to the floor as we took turns firing guns, chucking grenades, and hitting Covenent scum upside the head in a completely different way with each weapon we discovered. "Wait -- is that Banshee reflective?" "Check out the grenades!" We soon found that placing a grenade underwater resulted in a shower that puts Old Faithful to shame. Shooting the ground with the chaingun in the back of a Warthog crates a small, but noticeable, spray of dirt and sand.
Of course, there are flaws, as in any game. The level designers did get a little lazy, and Halo may not run perfectly on all but the best computers, but overall, Halo is a stunning performance delivered with style. The developers decided not to put a bit sign on the Needler (an alien gun) saying "This gun is really, really cool. Try shooting multiple shots into one guy and see what happens!" Because of this, all weapons are used equally. I am not stating that the Plasma Pistol is as effective as the Rocket Launcher, I am saying that the guns are fairly distributed, without the "cooler" ones being used more.
This game is terrific. You just have to get to know it.
