Ive had this game for a while.. and... well.. here it is. The game sucks on P.C. The only reason i say the xbox version is good is because xbox graphics, games, and reputation is 100% absolute CRAP when compared with the gaming P.C., and the best game xbox has is the halo series. But for the P.C. gamer... its not that good. Its extremely linear, the weapons are pretty boring, and the graphics suck(when compared with todays P.C. games). The only reason I played this game is because its the only game on my shelf with a semi-solid plot. So, all in all, if your looking for a kick-ass P.C. game, don't get Halo P.C.
Don't waste your time

I was hearing soooooooooo much of this game from my friends, "It's the best," blah blah blah blah. So I bought it. First of all my system is an Athlon XP 1800+ with nVidia FX 5200 128mb, and 512mb ram, I know it isnt a beast but it can play most games at 1024x768 with medium gfx. Anyway I set this game at what I usually have games set at. And it was studder city. I noticed many other people have had this problem also. So in other words it was very poorly put together. After messing around with the video settings I got it to run decent. Then I felt my efforts were wasted after playing the game. It is SOOOOOOOO HIGHLY OVERRATED. I've played many other better fps's than this. All you really do is wonder aimlessly and blast away everything you see. Thats about it. No varity. And the muti-player REALLY sucks. This game is like many other Microsoft games, Good GFX and Poor Gameplay. I believe the only reason it did any good on Xbox is because it was the only good game for Xbox when it first came out (infact Xbox still barly has any good games ;) I would reccomend call of duty or Medal of honor if you really want a good game.
Uh... What's the big deal?

Almost every reviewer on here is raving over Halo, but I have to say I was a bit dissapointed. The graphics and gameplay were good though it limits you to using a keyboard and mouse and not keyboard only or even a joystick controller like I prefer. That in itself, was just a minor drawback though. The big problem with Halo is that the system requirements are extremely demanding. My computer has a 64 Meg Radeon graphics card, 2.5 gig Athlon processor, and 512 megs ram. That combo should be able to run just about anything well, but Halo was lagging and I felt like I was playing in slow motion half the time. I think Halo has serious graphic bugs or something. I can run Unreal II, and other recent games without a hitch, but not Halo. If this is any indication of what's to come in Halo 2, very few computers will be able to run it unfortunately. It seems like the gaming companies worry more about how good they can make the game, which is fine, but don't think to make sure that people can actually run the games on normal computer systems. I'm sure the gaming companies have much more sophisticated and powerful computer systems, than most people even know exist. I hope they'll take this into consideration in the future.

Who put a star in this rating..Just a star!!
People who haven't bought Combat Evolved right now...Should buy
one right now!! I guarantee you that it'll be a lot better than
the Halo from Xbox if you haven't been satisfied because there
wasn't XBOX LIVE. Well, this one does.. Maximum 16 people...
Capture the flag...Sniping all over..Tank...Cannons...Shotgun
all over...Smashing people around with your Warthog...and you
banshee of course...hehehe...You will be satisfied..
Unless you're one bad newb!! Then u'd put a 1 star rating on
this game... lol...Don't put a bad rating on this game, because
of your personal matters, cuz you get stomped, crushed upon,
shot on the head by snipers...Oh yea by the way...
I read that the white line that comes out of the sniping gun
sucks..Well it isn't!! It's just smoke that comes out of it
lol... or something like that...Also if you didn't have that
you'd die everytime trying to find the snipers!! Well, isn't
that fair?!! Does somebody argue??

Halo: Combat Evolved is the best game you can get for PC and XBOX. Halo's graphics and sound quality are one of-a-kind, state-of-the-art precision. The game story line is excelent. This game is rated 5 out of 5.

I liked this game. It is fun to play. I will not recap the details of the game as I'm sure its been written many times already. However I have comments and criticism for developers of these types of games.
My number one gripe is cheap setups that occur in the storyline that you cannot avoid. Prime example in this game is when you need to disable a generator beam by using your shield. This takes away your shield temporarily leaving you vulnerable to attack by enemies. Wouldn't you expect it, as soon as your shield goes down, hordes of enemies pop out out of nowhere!
This brings me to my second gripe.
I appreciate games that challenge the players skill levels as long as it is fair and realistic. This is not the only game that suffers from the flaw of enemies 'popping up out of nowhere'! First of all it is unrealistic when the corridor you just went through is empty and then enemies pop out behind you out of thin air. Secondly it is kind of cheap as there is no skill needed to fight if you cannot plan your position and tactics when fighting. Enemies will simply materialize and kill you no matter how good you are.
My last gripe is the difficulty settings.
I understand that people want different levels of challenges during a game. When the easy level is selected it should be just that, easy. Many games including this one are actually pretty 'hard' in some places on the easy setting!
Hint: Easy should mean Easy.
I also want to throw in a comment about firepower especially where first person shooter games are concerned.
The game is ONLY fun when you have SUPERIOR firepower to the enemy in my view. When you are CONSTANTLY outgunned and need to keep running from the enemy the FUN factor drops considerably!
It is fun to win with superior armaments and it is NOT fun to lose when you are outgunned.
These games are for entertainment and should not frustrate the player. The goal of the game should be enjoyable. On that note Halo does overwelmingly accomplish this. Only a few minor parts of the game irritated me due to the things I pointed out.
