HALO? Oh Yeah!

First off, no, I'm not playing an advance copy of the PC conversion of this magnificent game. I've had to settle for the Xbox version with the dual analog sticks, but from what I've seen so far, this game is going to rock like the Andes when it comes to its rightful home.

For those of you who don't know what this game is about -- seriously, where have you been? -- I'll nutshell it for you.

You play as the Master Chief, a new SPARTAN-II cyborg soldier being used by Earth in its war against a myriad of alien races collectively known as the Covenant. Earth is on the losing side, having just lost its major military outpost on Reach, where all the other SPARTANs were wiped out except for the Master Chief. Your ship, the Pillar of Autumn, is attacked by the Covenant fleet as it retreats toward Earth. As the ship crash-lands on a mysterious ring-shaped planet, you have to rally the remaining Marines into fighting the Covenant, and to try to solve the bizarre technology of the artifact ... only to learn that there's something worse than the Covenant here ...

This game is a blast to play. Unlike every other First-Person Shooter, you can only carry a maximum of two weapons and eight grenades, which makes firefights even more tense, and forces you to choose more carefully which weapons you'll take with you.

And then there's the vehicles. So far, I've only used two Marine vehicles, the Scorpion battle tank and the Warthog assault jeep, and one Covenant vehicle, the Ghost hoverbike. But what I've seen so far is incredible. With the Marine vehicles, you can choose either to drive them, with other Marines backing you up, or you can get in the gunner's seat and enjoy some unlimited firepower.

The Covenant is one of the most varied bunches of baddies I've ever seen in a game. They range from "Uh-oh" to "Oh MAN!" to "What are these, Jawas with guns?" Believe me, if you've played it, you'll know what I mean.

So what gives me the right to review this game in the first place? Because I'm sitting here raving over a console game, which is something I NEVER do. I'm a hardcore PC junkie through and through. I also know that Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City are so much better on PC, so based on that, I know this game is going to be dominating my life for at least a few months when it arrives.

Man, September can't come fast enough for me.

emulation better be good!

If the transistion from XBOX to PC is great (ie the controls aernt goofy and impossible to use) the game should look better than even on the XBOX, i cant wait. I dont know why microsoft didnt do this earlier, since this orginaly WAS a PC game...

first things first. 1. this isnt your normal 1st person shooter. unlike most shooters, u carry only 2 guns and have fair amount of weapons to choose from. human weapons range from an automatic 50cal. pistol with scope, an assault rifle, shot gun, 14.5 mm armor piercing sniper rife, and a fat ... rocket launcher. covenant (the baddies ranging from little guys with big guns to bigger guys with... big guns)weapons are a plasma pistol with a longer-you-hold-down-trigger-the-more-powerful-the-shot mode of fire. the plasma rifle is an auto matic laser rifle (all plasma weapons can overheat and cant reload, so u have to pick up knew ones) the needler which resembles the hornet rifle from half life, but does a whole lot more damage, and theres new weapons in mp. the flamethrower may be a maybe, while the fuel rod cannon (covenant rocket/grenade launcher) is a definite yes.
2. vehicles
human vehicles are the warthog jeep, with a 12.7 (50 cal)x 99mm (who comes up with these measurements?)gatling gun ofr a 3 barreled rocket launcher in mp and driver and passenger compartments, the scorpion, a tank with a 80mm gun and a 7.62 mg, and passenger sides
covenant vehicles include the ghost hoverbike, with quad plasma cannons, the banshee aircraft with rockets and auto plasma cannons
and the story is about some alien race who thinks the humans are the devil or somethin in their religon, but i wont spoil anymore
im just waiting for halo 2 to come out on pc, and the only way i now about halo is through a friend that i have, and i have played, so expect good game playin expierence.

Halo was the absolute best game ever. I cant stand to wait another year to play it. THere are going to be two new kinds of warthogs, including a troop transport and a snow warthog, which is white and has better traction, and the old one will get a cannon that has to be recharged every three shots. There will also be a human ATV. Dont worry though, the scorpion will still be around. The The Covenant will have something very like a dropship, its called a covenant shadow with room nine people, it carries six, two are gunners who fire built in shades, and the driver. I have a hard time beliving it holds nine, but the website I checked said so. THere will also be a small version of the ghost. This time you will be able to drive the wraith tank, too. The ghost and banshee will stay. The MA5B will be replaced with a new, higher caliber, lower rate of fire rifle that also include a 2X scope. The new pistols will be highly automatic, and you can carry two at a time. Master Chief also has a new suit of armor. This time they will visit beta halo, as last time it was alpha. Cortana will be back. My prediction: Dr. Halsey survived on REACH and made Master Chief his new armor. Just so you all know: the forerunners created the covenant on the elites side. The covenants are split in to two groups: The Elites and The Prophets. The prophets have more control over them, though. It will be great plot as well as a great game.

"Port" isn't a dirty word in a situation like this!

And Halo will likely make an excellent port from XBOX to PC, likely featuring full support for modern 3-D cards, resolutions up to 1600x1200, new multiplayer head to head mode content, optimized LAN/online play, no coop play as I hear, and more! But it'll still be a great port and for XBOX owners, well, you really don't need it, and I don't plan to get it, since I already have HALO for XBOX! :)

Just about anywhere you go people know and love Halo. Aside from what all the other reviews say about it being the best shooter ever (It is you know:) the interface is really very quick to learn. I am not usualy good at first person shooters but after a few minuits I had little trouble duking it out with the enemy... on easy. Ledgendary, the most dificult level, is near impossible still, but in various forums I hear it is very possible. All in all a very good buy.

Hell, this is perfect for all the people who are to dumb to get a X Box :) although i already have halo for x box ill probly be getting this so i can tweak around with the maps and such :). I have seen screenshots of this at the official halo site and although there not as good as they are on the x box they are still good. but anyways, this is a must for anyone if you got halo or not.

I had heard the buzz about Halo for the Xbox for a while but never really investigated the game until I played it at a friend's house. The next day I bought an Xbox and Halo and have been hooked ever since. As with the legendary game Half Life, it is the story as well as the game play that makes Halo great. I found the characters in the game to be very well developed, the weaponry outstanding and the voice acting, especially by Jen Taylor (Cortana) and the Marines that fight along side you to be exceptionally well done.

Halo is loosely based off of several Sci-Fi movies from Aliens to Star Wars. The story begins at Reach, one of the worlds that humans have colonized. Reach is suddenly attacked by the covenant and your ship is forced to make a blind jump to lure your enemies away from Reach so that they do not discover the location of Earth. Your ship arrives at Halo but the covenant has somehow tracked you and follow closely behind. The covenant armada attacks your ship and you are forced to crash land on Halo, an ancient and mysterious ring world where the covenant horde attacks you at every turn. The covenant is made up of several alien races who find humans to be an affront to their gods. Their blind devotion to these gods has incited their leaders to declare a holy war against humanity with the ultimate goal of killing every human being. After several breathtaking missions and just when you think you have the covenant on the run, a new, more vicious foe appears. The Flood as they are known, are nothing more than human and covenant soldiers who have been infected by a mysterious disease that has but one purpose, to infect the entire galaxy. In an attempt to stop the Flood, the main character of Halo, the Master Chief attempts to activate Halo's weapon systems but his AI sidekick Cortana discovers the horrifying truth about Halo's true purpose.

Halo is quite simply the finest video game ever made. The story behind the game is phenomenal, the characters in this game range from the Master Chief, an experimental warrior with cybernetic enhancements to Cortana, his AI partner to the comic relief of the covenant foot soldiers known as grunts. The maps in this game are incredible with realistic natural effects that are stunning to behold. All of these elements are welded together to form the best video game experience of all time.

Im a little fan that just wanted to talk about this game:). I have discovered this game through my friend of mine. when ever im over we have to play it once or twice. I have heard that there might not be a cooperative play which []because it makes it funner and a liitle easier. but to make up for the no cooperative is the addition of mult play levels, weapons, and the banchi. So this would be goood for a person that isn't a stupid [] and owns an xbox, which would be me:).

Halo is all around the best game ever. The backround and the sound is amazing, and the graphics are the best I have ever seen in a console-game. The controls are easy to get used to and the gameplay is unbeattable. After that first minute of Halo you're stuck. When you sleep the only thing running through your head is halo, halo, halo. All the action, the strategy, the fun is all just too good to be true. The game is built for everyone. If you're a gun-hoe soldier, halo allows you to blast your way through. If your more a silent, one-shot one kill, hit and run type player (like me) then halo is built for your needs. The best part about Halo is that it is the first good game i've seen with co-operative gameplay. Co-op is loads of fun, and is the main reason why i love halo so much. This game is filled with action horror and suspense and I garantee its the best game or you can shot me.
