This is an amazing FPS. It is everything that I ask from an FPS. It's intelligent, thrilling, creative and doesn't get repetitive. There's no area (except for the detailed bodies of the creatures) where Doom III can come close to HL2. The area which makes biggest difference is the physics, which is amazing in HL2.

And the gunship's such a pain!

The best thing i like so far abut Half Life 2 that you dont have to take a flashlight out to see anything like in doom3

The maps are so intresting tons of things and places to find in 1 map.

Another good thing is that you get 2 extra games with the $49
Counter-strike:source and Half-Life:deathmatch which are both online games for Steam.

And when i first knew about it i thought it will be just like half-life 1 but since it won awards i was confinced.

Iam amazed by the graphics of the games with over 40 facil
muscels on caraters. ITS A MUST HAVE FOR SERIOUS GAMERS!!!

I have been waiting for this sequel for a long time and it was well worth the wait.The attention to detail is awesome, and the developers have actually listened to the user and what they wanted.I was gob smacked by the first instalment. You will be knocked down by number 2. Do yourself a favour - Buy it!!!!

Deserves to be on the top...

I've only rated 3 games in my life, Devil May Cry, FFXI, and now HLF2. Before I rated this game, I made sure I fully experienced everything. I played the remade Counter Strike Source, then Half Life 2 single player and multiplayer. So be sure that my rating is honest and is based solely on my opinions.

Let me talk about Counter Strike first. I'm a major fan of the first counter strike, I loved the countless bodies and bullets you can spill in the game, which is why I was glad they remade it, the graphics have been imrpoved and so have the physics, which made the game more realistic, but the same in everything else.

Half Life 2 Deathmatch was pretty fun. It was basically like counter strike but with futuristic weapons and enviroments. So to be honest, I enjoyed the single player more.

Finnaly, on my reiview with Half Life 2 single player, I say "Amazing". The story line is more immersive than the first one, the graphics and physics are of course better, the guns rock, especially my favorite, the gravity gun, and its never boring or repetitive (Unless you've played for hours and very tired). So if you want something to waste your money on, better this than Doom 3 or Halo 2.

Steam is wrong but there is a way

For those people who think steam is a bad thing all you do is go to steam hit play games and select half life 2. in other words this game also RULES! (p.s it is kinda scary)

I dont even know where to begin. Hl2 is the best game that have came out so far. there"s a reason why it the #1 shooting game.
for all the other reviews that say its bad it or it takes too long to load is because there all anti-halflife and halo 2 fans
(theres a war going on on if halo or half life is better)
Let me put it this way. half life makes halo look like a sesame street game. For all u who hate half life 1 or have not play it
half life 2 will not disapoint u. for all u who like half life 1
the u will fall in love wid this game in the matter of minutes.
if u think its too expencive, u probally dont know what ur getting. ok ur getting 3 games (half life 2, half life 2 deathmatch and counter strike source)AND A $20 REBATE. so its like paying $30 for each game($10 dallors for each. counter strike regular cost $30. and now u get counter strike source for $10. the only thing i dont like about this game is its loading time it take alittle 2 long. but it worth the wait.
I play this game every day for at least 2-3 hrs and i bought it when it first came out and im still not bored of it. AWSOME GAME!!!

Good god, Sierra and Valve have done it again! This game is totally off the wall...I must say, the regular version of HL2 is better than the collecters cause you can get the downloads and its cheaper, but hey! I still love it! I would definetly say you should get it. Now here is one thing...if you have 256 MB DDR Ram you might run into problems...It has a habit of closing the game and making you cold-boot your computer after like 3 hours...I have had that problem but, WHO CARES! I still play on and have the time of my life! Plus CS:Source is top notch! The downside with HL2 and the Sources is that you constantly need to update, so if your like me and have a 56k modem, it'll take a while but is worth every minute! If you have a 512 MB Ram or lower, I have to tell you something...DON'T Multitask! It will mess up your game! I hope you enjoy the game as much as I do!

Half-Life 2.....An Exception Game Hands Down!!!

I have played the Half Life series since it began in the 90's. From the start, Half Life and the following sequels were nothing short of addicting and well worth playing.

Half Life 2 is the long awaited sequel to the Half Life series. If you have not played the Half Life series (sold here at amazon in a pack of 5 or 6 games), get it first. You won't regret it. Awesome.

I finished Half Life 2 and admit once again, it has me asking for more. The makers of Half Life 2 kept true to the original series and added far more adventure and some good scare into the game. I'd rate this game 9 out of 10. No game can ever be a ten unless it was a virtual reality game then most of us game players would never return from a VR game. wink.

Get this game if you have played any or all of the original Half Life series. If you want the temptation to just jump into HL2, then you won't be disappointed.

This game is has the best graphic out of all games. and the stort line is great!

The environment, graphics, usable objects, and animations have greatly improved from Half Life. However, it runs much slower than the first game and I found the interface frustrating.

For instance, you can only jump about four inches off the ground. There were times where I spent fifteen to thirty minutes stacking items up against a wall, only to find that I could not jump over it not matter how high the stack.

It also took forever to load between levels and between scenes. It seemed I was always waiting for the game to load.

In multi-player mode the game ran much slower than the original Half-life or Halo. They nerfed the crossbow and the rocket launcher interface is just plain weird. The gravity gun is cool, but hard to manipulate.

The Steam package is good idea and I really liked the improvements to Counter Strike.
