Rent, don't buy

This game is fun, especially if you're a Simpsons' fan. Basically, you race around Springfield as one of up to 17 characters and in one of six locations, picking up people and racing to drop them off somewhere else on time, sometimes avoiding hitting other cars, sometimes trying to devastate the town to earn extra time and money. As you earn money by driving people around, you unlock the locations and characters. There are also some missions in which you basically try to run over a certain number of objects in a certain span of time. The ultimate goal is to earn a million dollars (about 100 attempts) to run Mr. Burns' nuclear buses out of business.

The game is quite fun out of the box. Apparently, the actors recorded speech for the game and the quips are amusing (if occasionally non sequiturs). The cars are amusing and Springfield is amazingly detailed. For a fan, it's especially entertaining as it contains a lot of side references to the series that you will appreciate if you are a devotee. Those not terribly fluent in the Simpsons will still like it (you wouldn't be buying it if you didn't like the show) but won't appreciate the little details a Simpson's nutcase (like myself) will.

However, the fun wears off rather quickly. The game is repetitive. And the victory animation is disappointing. The missions are especially poor - you figure out what path to take in order to complete the mission in the alloted time, then keep doing it over and over (and over) again until you get it right. BOR-ING!

It might be worth buying if you really like driving games. But I would highly recommend renting before you commit...

WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND $$$ !!!!!!!!!!!!

The serious Simpsons fan would enjoy this game thoroughly. However, I am not a Simpsons fan, at all, therefore, THIS GAME IS AWFUL!!! Fortunately, I bought this game with a gift certificate. Because I own and really enjoyed Crazy Taxi 3 and thought this game would be similar, maybe even better. HUGE MISTAKE. Let me put in simple terms;
-average/poor graphics. PS2 is capable of much, much more
-*EXTREMELY REPETITIVE GAMEPLAY* incredibly boring after 25min
-incredibly long "Loading" screens
-mission modes last anywhere between 15 and 45 secs and the loading screen takes about 2-3 mins.
-characters have VERY limited dialogue (i.e. repetitive jokes)
-passenger locations and drop-offs exactly the same, every time
-overall gameplay is limited and, again, repetitive
Get the picture...?
The one and one only reason this game got 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the amount of characters there are to choose from (after unlocking them all, which is boring and tedious)
So, I hope I have been of some help to everyone interested in this game, dont forget this is my opinion, and obviously, rent the game first, if you insist on checking it out.

Great game for fans of the Simpsons

This is one of my favorite games, but I am a long-time fan of the Simpsons. Six different levels let you roam all around Springfield, from Moe's Tavern to Barney's Bowl-A-Rama, Springfield Elementary to the Frying Dutchman. You can also choose from about 30 of the more popular characters: Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge, Grandpa, Apu, Willie, Chief Wiggum, Prof. Frink, Snake, and more, plus I've heard there are a few secrets. Any other characters you can't play you are sure to run into, as only the most obscure are kept out of this game.
The game's two-player mode lets opponents compete for passengers; crash into the other player and the fare will jump from his car to your's. With the right opponent this could keep you raging all night. In single-player mode you can choose between Road Rage, Sunday Drive, or Mission Mode which sends you off on ten different missions that finally pay off with a pretty cool prize.
The game also features outstanding graphics which give the feeling of playing inside the cartoon--inside because the characters and the environments are comletely three-dimensional. The sound is great as well with real character voices from the actual cast and plenty of original dialogue between driver and passenger without all of the repetitive speech of similar games.
The only thing that slows this game down is the incredibly long loading time which lasts about a full minute or so between the main menu and the levels which in the end take you back to the main menu after another full minute of loading. However, you can get about fifteen minutes of gameplay each round, so use the in between time for bathroom breaks or other short-timed activities. This is definitely a must have for any fan of the show as well as anyone looking for an enjoyable game which is fun again and again.
By the way, this game blows the monotonous Crazy Taxi completely away!

This has to be the greatest Simpsons game, ever! You get to play as a whole bunch of characters from the show, even Mr. Plow. The only bad thing about this game is the loading times. But besides that this game is AWESOME!

This is a very funny game!!

I rented this game from ... for my PS2. I thought that it was very funny when the Simpsons crashed into millions of things. I liked the game play. It was great fun to steer the Simpsons' cars around Springfield. This game is pretty cool!!

Crazy Taxi Simpsons Style

Ok, this is a total [copy] of Crazy Taxi, the only difference is you play as Simpsons characters go through Springfield locations and pick up Simpsons characters. There is a lot more variety in this then Crazy Taxi, but I give the edge to Taxi because of the music and graphics which are both superior to that of these. As a fan of the Simpsons and Crazy Taxi, I reccomend that fans of either or both check this out.

What a BLAST!

Okay, slow load times aside, this game is great to play. It's challenging without being frustrating, and allows for enjoyable game play without a huge "storyline" to follow. It reminds me of the classic arcade games where your entertainment came from just playing the game, not saving your progress on some huge "mission."

For those of you who are into mission style games, there ARE plenty of missions available on this game. You get to unlock new characters and locations at certain intervals, and there are plenty of challenges to keep you going for hours on end.

...I've been hearing that this game is a rip off of Crazy Taxi, which is probably true, but it's a rip off of Crazy Taxi that's better than Crazy Taxi! Whew, that was a mouthfull. The graphics are 8 out of 10 and the gameplay is 9 out of 10. And this game is FUNNY. For example:
Barney: "Get in the car, both of you."
So like barney... oh yeah, the review. This game is a MUST-HAVE for Simpson fans everywhere...

Crazy Taxi - Simpson's Style

OK, the game play isn't quite up to the Crazy Taxi level, but it is close. If you are a Simpson's fan, you'll love the dialog and spend countless hours crashing through Springfield. Each game loads slowly, but it is well worth the wait. Dozens of Simpson characters and landmarks bring back memories of your favorite episodes. The two-player game is simple but fun: race your opponent to pick up the waiting passenger and deliver the passenger without having him stolen by your opponent. I've only had this game one week, but I haven't seen Cletus or Dr. Hibbard yet. Maybe they'll be in future levels I have yet to unlock. Dr. Frick is hilarious in this game.

If you love the show The Simpson's then you'll love this game. It is road rage at it's finest! You drive through Springfield, picking up passengers, trying to avoid traffic and at times you are required to go all out and have the "road rage." You rack up dollars to open up new levels of the town and new drivers. It's fun and entertaining! The graphics are wonderful and the characters look and sound like the television show.
