Anyone from Minneapolis or Montreal is likely to play this game and think it's a simulation of driving in either of those cities with the added attraction of extreme property damage. I had debated buying this game for many months and while I am a huge Simpsons fan, many of the PS2 games I have played have been really awful. In fact, from where I stand, about one game in ten is worth playing, much less actually own it. I also usually try to never pay full price of a PS2 game if I can and if that means waiting for it to be reduced in price or made a `Greatest Hits' title, then so be it.

`The Simpsons: Road Rage' is one of those games. I can't imagine anyone paying full price for this game, playing it and think it was a good bargain. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game on the same level that `Time Splitters' was a bad game, rather there just isn't enough to do but pick people up and drop them off somewhere else as quickly as possible or running things down in the so-called `Mission Mode'. Destroying stuff would be at least be visually pleasing if when you crashed into something, instead of the polygon model breaking apart, it exploded like most things in the Simpsons (rabbits, Chief Wiggum in a garbage can), I mean, how many times has a car crashed in the Simpsons and NOT exploded? Right, about 4 times.

What's worse is it isn't even that funny. The dialog never seems strained, the actors do their part wonderfully, rather what they say isn't going to win any Emmies. My question here is, in 14 seasons of the Simpsons there have been about 10,000 really funny lines and even if only 5% pertained to cars and driving, they could have just sampled them and stuck them into the game. But no, we get lines like "Everyone's a psycho but me." from Lisa or "You'd make me the happiest Christian in the world if you could take me to the church!" from Flanders. Would have been so hard to go to Gracie Films and borrow some of their writers for this game in order to get some GOOD lines? Funny video games are possible, anyone remember `Sam and Max Hit the Road'?

Also, the game presents some funny glitches, like two Apu's standing on opposite sides of the street waiting to be picked up. Or the time when driving as Bart I dropped Marge off at the `She She Lounge'. I found Marge waiting to be picked up in the middle of Lake Springfield standing on an island. Later, I found Krusty waiting there as well. Graphics are so-so. A mixed bag of great character models and detailed locations seen in the show, but almost everything else is pretty low-rez and over anti-aliased. Some buildings don't even have textures on all sides. The physics model actually isn't that bad and I wish cars in Gran Tourismo handled as well as the ones in the game do. In that vein, all cars drive and handle the same- whether it's Bart's soap box racer or Marge's Canyonaro.

As a Simpsons fan I can barely justify the twenty clams I laid out for this game. It will actually be worth it when it gets to half that.

If you liked crazi taxi you will love this game. It is much better. It has the same idea, pick up people and take them to where they want to go, but with Simpsons people. Every now and then the taxi driver will just yell out random remarks and it so funny. For instance, when something gets in the way of grandpa, whether its a rock or a fire hydrant, he sometimes would yell out "get out of the way you idiot!". You can go into a sunday drive and cruise around 5 different neighborhoods without worrying about time. You can also do mission modes, which aren't that great because all you do is knock things over, but the end product is worth it, "The car Built for Homer". The reason I gave this game a 3 rating because it gets boring fast. There is about 30 things to unlock. Each time you play a timed game you make about 10,000 if your good. Near the end you need at least 100,000 to unlock things. This game is not worth 50 dollar and in my opion neither is crazi taxi. I think this is more of a rental since it can be beaten easly.

A definite must-have!

Whether you like Simpson Games, Car Games, or you just even want a video game - this is the game for you. This fantastic game has three modes in which you can drive in.

ROAD RAGE: This is the main object of the game. Raise money by giving people rides to wherever they want to go - like a taxi cab. Whenever you reach a goal, you recieve a reward. This is a VERY fun part of the game and I love it!

MISSION MODE: This mode is not that easy sometimes, but you are very happy when you actually complete a mission. Don't worry if you can't finish a mission - if you fail the mission 5 times, then you can just skip it and continue to another mission.

SUNDAY DRIVE: This mode is my favorite one. It rocks! It is so exciting and fun to just destruct Springfeild! It is so funny, also. Objects everywhere..trees in roads, ruins of shopping cards, fences, and tumbled over cars - and it is also funny to knock over people - it made me laugh out loud to see them tumble! Hehehe..and you also get Mr. Burns mad when you ruin the town, also. You will LOVE this mode.

So, buy this game. You will not regret it- and you will become addicted to it.

The evil, diabolical and OLD Mr Burns has bought out the Springfield Transit system, jacked the fares and turned the buses RADIOACTIVE.
Quote Mr Burns, "Faster, cheaper and completely safe." Pan to Moleman. Quote Moleman, "Please kill me."
So what are the Springfield residents going to do about it, as the buses careen around streets, smashing cars, poles and people?
Start their own taxi service and raise one million dollars to buy make the transit system, that's what.

At first, you only get control of five Simpson family members, Homer, in the family sedan, (all the cars have turned convertible) Marge in the F-series Canyonero, Bart in Martin Prince's Honor Roller, Lisa in the electric Elec-Taurus, and Grampa Simpson in the Shriner's cart.
But as you get a certain amount of money in the bank, you can CHOOSE new rewards, either a new location, or a new driver and vehicle.
LOCATIONS:
Evergreen Terrace, it has everything for wholesome family living, a school, church and the Kwik-E-Mart.
Entertainment District: The entertainment side of town, the Aztec Theatre and Googoplex, multiple restaurants, Mini-golf and Moe's Bar.
Springfield Dam: The successor to the shoddy thing built by Cesil Terwilliger, Sideshow Bob's brother, it also features the extremely crust Kamp Krusty.
Nuclear Power Plant: DO you feel a bit green and sick? It might be because of all the nuclear waste, but mostly cause you're in Burns Country!
Downtown Springfield: Springfield, Springfield, it's a hell of a town, the school yard's up and the shopping mall's down! Stray dogs go to the animal pound! THe airport, Truckasaurus and Jebediah Springfield are all here.
SPringfield Mountains: The tire fire, Krusty's gold house, the Pet Cemetery and Springfield Gorge are all here. And make sure to absolutely destroy Mr Burns' mansion, right up top.
Cars include,
Professor Frink, a flying car, Homer and his plow, Barney and his plow, Apu and his sports car, Snake and his sports car, Chief Wiggum in the cop car, Reverend Tim Lovejoy in the BOok burning mobile and many, many more.
Simpsons Road Rage uses actual voices from the show and puts them into a lasting PS2 game.
Features a Sunday Drive, Mission Mode, Head To Head and the main one, Road Rage.
If you get them, you can put in cheats to make Bart's car Halloween decorated, the Canyonero a Thanksgiving Canyonero and Krusty's CLown car into a New Year's Eve Clown Car.
And if you can finish ALL the missions, you get Homer in...The Homer! AKA The Car Built For Homer, AKA THe car Homer's brother Herb asked him to build which cost him all his fortune.
A definite must for Simpsons fans, and everyone else.

Fun game but boring in the end

This is a good game the first 10 minutes, after a while its just the same and so repetetive...the goal is to gain enough money to save the town or something, but the way to gain money is by picking up people and driving them around. You have to play for months doing the same thing over and over to win. It is an okay game but i do not recommend spending more than 10 dollars on it if ur going 2 buy it : )

There's no reason to get this game.

This game is pretty boring. It's just like Crazy Taxi, just with the Simpsons as the cast. The game is just the same thing over and over again, you pick up passengers and drop them of at the designated area in the time limit you are given, so the game is to repeticious. I rarely play it anymore. The only thing I really liked were some of the silly things that the characters said, other than that, there's no reason to get this game.

Not worth it

i dont know why but i beat the game. i just finished it today. I worked on it forever getting one million bucks at about 10,000 bucks every run. every run took like 15 minutes with the loading time. What kept me going was the ending movie but it turned out to be a...30 second scene of one of burns' little insults he gives you after every run. IT ISNT WORTH BUYING. but, it would probably be worth renting. the things the characters say is really funny at first like homer saying "get in, i've got candy!" and molemen saying " take me to the dentist, the pain helps me remember i'm alive!" But, after 5 times, its not funny. no way do not buy it only rent. got it?!?

Simply a fun game for those not pretentious

If you are a gamer who is a snob, who looks first for a games weaknesses before its strengths, or hates the simpsons, then you will prbably not like tbis game...if you are someone who enjoys a game that you literally pick up and play, and lose yourself in a 3d animated worl, then you will love this game. The controls are so simple, and the scenary so beautiful that I could spend hours just driving around the different locations. This is a game that you beat more by persistence then skill, but it is so fun, the actual beating of the game is secondary to just playing it. I definately recommend it to gamers just starting or someone looking to relive stress with mindless fun.

The cons are the very long loading times and dialogue which is both repetitive and out of sequence. For instance, Krusty once picked up Barney who said "uh I promise to try not to throw-up) to which Krusty replied "I once nailed a groupy there." Makes no sense but it still is funny.

Overall, this is a wonderfully fun game (my girlfriend got me..thanks erica!!) that if you simply play it for what it is, and not what it isn't, you will have a blast!!
