Somewhat of a disappointment

This is one of those "must rent" games. Clever for a while and never really able to evoke an emotion. It only makes the user think, "This is pretty interesting".

If you are not a big fan of the show you probably will not be as exicted to play this. Most of the main characters are available, they just have to be unlocked, which is achieved by accumulating points by picking up Springfield residents and dropping them off at particular locations.

Each character drives a different vehicle that pertains to the Fox show. Marge drives a Canyonero. Grandpa drives a Shriner's Cart. Reverend Lovejoy drives a bible mobile. They each have several catch phrases, which seem to repeat after three or four games.

The difficulty is very low and the boredom factor kicks in after 20 minutes or so. Plus, this game takes a long time to load into each segement.

A very quality rent for the Simpsons fan. Think twice before you purchase.

Confession....I used to be a productive member of society. Now I'm late for work because I get too wrapped up in Road Rage. I bought it for the kids...but well, I'm hooked. The variety of vehicles and environmental race settings make it fun to play everyday. The "missions" you complete in another mode don't go toward your total score, and the last one is impossible to complete. The other modes for single player or head to head are fantastic!! Best for people who are unemployed.

Fast, Easy, and Fun.

The Simpsons Road Rage is lots of fun. I'll Break it down.
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay is basically the same idea as Crazy Taxi. You have to pick up riders and take them to their destination before the time runs out to earn money. Loads of entertainment.
GRAPHICS
Not anything extraordinary, but its fun to look at. Springfield is very colorful and the characters are easily recognizable for any Simpsons fan.
REPLAY VALUE
This game has 17 different characters and 6 different areas to unlock, plus 10 missions to complete, so it should keep you coming back to finish as much as you can. The only downside is that experienced gamers might find this game a little easy, but it's great for beginners.

I liked it, my friends liked it, so this game is at least worth renting just to check it out.

Very fun, not too bad for kids!!! You would enjoy this game!

I don't know what other people are thinking but this game is a whole lot of fun. The characters "bicker" fun at each other in known "simpson" style. Of course I don't know much about the other games the other reviewer was talking about, but I can tell you this, we bought this game over a year ago and I know it says teen but after many hours of playing this and reviewing what the characters do say, we decided it was not anything so bad that our 9 year old could not play(and we are strict about what we do let them watch and play)( The worst words are right around the "badness" as the word idiot nothing that could not be said on public tv ). The game is a race against the clock to pick up and drop off passengers to their locations. You can receive points for safety(however I have never gotten those I think I manage to hit everything in my way). There is always an arrow (hand) pointing you the way to go. There is also 2 player mode where you get to race against each other at a set number of passengers (that you can set). While playing against each other , if your opponent has the passenger in their car you can steal it back by hitting their car and then speed off to the destination before they can steal it back. There is rewards for hitting certain point marks on the way up, you can unlock more characters and more cars. This truely is an enjoyable game, you will find yourself laughing hysterically (especially at what the grandpa says and grandma singing "Canyon Arrow"). This would definantly get you through those cold boring winter days. If you are a person who is looking for a fun game, try this!! Thanks for listening!!!From a Mother of 3 boys who enjoys video games herself!!

a real review from someone who actually has PLAYED the game

(...) This game is really fun. It's a lot like Crazy Taxi, in that you drive around town, picking up fares (all recognizable citizens of Springfield), and taking them to their destinations. The faster you get there, the more $ you make.

It's easy to play, and there are a ton of short-cuts to explore, making the replay value high. There's also a two-player mode where you try to make more money than your opponent. There are also enough inside jokes to keep fans of the show laughing. The negatives are few compared to the positives: LONG load times, a short, boring mission mode, and a few glitches where you can get stuck in the scenery. (...)

Not enough to it

The simpson games have always been fun to mess around with. But, as far as buying this game; there isn't enough to it the levels are short and the overall replay value of this game is weak. Dont buy this game, rent it on a rainy day. Im serious..

The novelty of this game wears off very quickly. At first it was fun to play as several of the Simpsons characters but when they started repeating their dialogue for the 50th time it became mighty tedious and tiresome.

The gameplay is very simple. If GTA: Vice City is the Lego Technic of road rage games then Simpsons: Road Rage is, without a doubt the Lego Duplo. It is SOOO aimed at kids. No one over the age of 13 will be particularly impressed with this. It's just far to `safe'. The Simpsons TV show is full of satirical humor and intelligence but this game is just a cheap spin-off aimed at a much younger audience.

Now I may admit that all of the Simpsons games are rip offs. The Simpsons Wrestling was a WWF rip off (a good game, but poor graphics). Simpsons Skateboarding was a Tony Hawk rip off (but it totally sucks). And now the Simpsons Road Rage rips offs Crazy Taxi. Now by that you would think all the Simpsons games suck, right? Not! The Simpsons Road Rage is one of the best Simpsons no one of the best Multi-Console games (it's on GC, GBA, PS2,Xbox, and PC). It has a main mode where you drive around picking up favorite Simpsons characters (i.e. Homer, Marge, Krusty, Priciple Skinner, Jannitor Willie, etc.) and drop them off. There is another mode which you can do all that is listed above except theres no time limit. Overall this is a superior game. My only gripe is the load tim, it takes a while.

Beat it... Heres what i think...

Right off the bat, if you are a Simpsons fan, this is a must buy for you. Anybody who loves the simpsons will love this game. Im sure that was said in another review.
Anyways I got this game for Christmas along with my Playstation 2.At first I didn't think the game would be all that good considering how horrible Simpsons Wrestling was, but I was plesently surprised. The game is a fresh burst of Simpsons with Crazy Taxi gameplay put in. The graphics aren't something to go yell out on the street but, good considering the game was adapted from a 2-D cartoon. The animation takes a little while to get used to after playing a realistic game like MGS2. There are many hidden characters you can unlock and 6 levels to play in. Depending on the character you use, and who you pick up, they sometimes say something to eachother. Such as... if Homer picks up Bart, Homer will say, "Why aren't you at school boy?" Then Bart will try to pull off an excuse for it. Though after that the character interaction they both say random things, which can get repetitive and boring (Espicially if you like to use one character most of the time).
After unlocking most of the characters and levels, the game can get quite long and boring. To beat the game it doesn't seem to require how good you are, but how long you are willing to play the same thing over and over. Especially near the end of the game where you have to earn 100 grand to unlocks something.
Suggestions: When you first get started play all the characters and just have fun. When you are interested in finally beating the game, I suggest using Lisa as your driver, HARD for a difficulty, and Evergreen Terrace as your starting location.(Those were the easiest and got the most money for me).
When I finally beat it, I expected an excellent video or clip that would finish off the game and would make all my gameplay worthwile, but I was extremely depressed. (Skip to next paragraph if you don't want the spoiler) All the video was, was Mr. Burns pretty much saying that it's no use keeping the Burn's Transit up. He says he will be back which seemed like a cliffhanger and was not entertaining at all.
Otherwise, Road Rage gets 4/5 stars in my book. I took one off for some of the glitches, (like getting stuck between 2 buildings and not being able to get out), the extremely long loading times, the vehicles are all pretty much the same, also none of them have tops, they are all convertables! Still, the gameplay is great with a solid multiplayer mode, and not a bad replay value. Though, like I said before this is a must have for all Simpsons fans.

Best Simpsons Video Game Ever!

This game has alot of highs and alot of downs but in over all its a great game. I'll rate this game by the sound, graphics and gameplay.

Graphics- First I got to say that the graphics in this game are plain. Theres no edge to how the game looks but its good. For the graphics I would say 3.0/5.0 not perfect but good.

Sound- The sound in road rage is great. They have many sayings for each character and they dont rapidly say each saying over and over. I would personaly say 4.8/5.0.

Gameplay- Very good. Not as good as the sound but still good. You can do much and you really don't get to bord of road rage. I would say 4.0/5.0.

In my opinion I would say that it would be worth it to buy this game. Its more then just a rent. To me I like this game better then crazy taxi. I think that if you're thinking of buying this game for a gift you should stick with this game.
