So-so crazy taxi rip off with terrible load times

Road Rage is simply Crazy Taxi with the Simpsons liscense. You drive around Springfield with various Simpsons characters and taxi them to where they need to go. It's nice for Crazy Taxi fans, because you get a LOT of territory to explore and play in, but the levels just aren't as much fun as the game that inspired them. There are no great moments like CT's San Fran hills, and the streets in Road Rage tend to look all alike.

The Simpsons liscense isn't used as well as it could have been here. The cars look cel-shaded but nothing else is, and it gives the game a kinda confused, bland look to it. Driving around Springfield to see the church or the elementary school or other famous places from the show is not at all compelling, mainly because they often don't look like the show at all. Each character has a few comments to say to every other character, so there is alot to hear, but only some of it is funny or even in character.

The story/mission mode is the weakest, and also highlights the game's big weakness, its loooooong load times. I often had to wait 2 minutes to play a 24 second drill, which is just stupid and totally kills the game. Stick to taxi mode.

Rent this game unless you are a major Simpsons or Crazy Taxi fan.

if you ask me, just another miss use of the simpsons name

i'm getting really depressed how many bad games are coming out of one of my favorite tv shows of all time, the simpsons. as soon as you see the box, you'll basically get the picture it's a crazy taxi rip off, with a plot that's a little thin.

The good parts first, the graphics are very cool. All the simpsons characters are faithfully recreated and they look very good. the cars you drive are kinda cell shaded all though the game doesn't really have that look. Like i said before it's basically a crazy taxi rip off, so there is some fun to be had ferrying people from place to place.

And now the bad, the graphics are good, but to me instead of looking like a cartoon, it looks like they just got tired of drawing and left it uncomplete. the voices of the simpsons are included, but they repeat WAY WAY WAY too much, i played the game the first time for 30 minutes and must have heard the same thing 10 or 20 times over. not only the voices are overused but also the sound effects. when you hit a tree, it makes the same sound as when you hit a car.
the collision detection is a whole other story. sometimes it's hard to get in an ally or around a building, when you can see your car is like a foot away from the edge. with today's technology, there's no excuse for that.

to sum it up this is crazy taxi, with the simpsons added and the fun taken out. rent it first, if at all. do your self a favor and go out and get crazy taxi instead, and play one of the simpsons cd's while you play.

Road Rage is a must have !!!

I'm a huge Simpson's fan, I just expected it to be funny or creative. It's not. The environment doesn't have any in-jokes or obscure references, just basic places like Quick-E-Mart, Moe's, power-plant. You can't interact with the environment. The characters don't say anything funny.
On the plus side, the game play and graphics are OK. It is a ripoff of Crazy Taxi.

So, don't buy the game just because you're a Simpson's fan, you'll be bored with it immediately.

Stupidest Game Ever!

THE SIMPSON'S ROAD RAGE starts off really fun and exciting. The premise of the game is that Mr. Burns has bought the Springfield bus transit system and it's causing more chaos in Springfield than normal. So, the citizens (led by Homer) decide to fight back and buy back the bus system. They start their own taxi service and need to raise a million dollars to buy the buses back from Burns. There are a total of six levels, five of which can be unlocked as you earn more money. Also, as you earn more money you can unlock more vehicles. Different characters drive the different vehicles. As you drive along, you can smash into lots of different things: knocking over trees, billboards, mailboxes, signs, etc. This game is great to play if you're a Simpsons fan because you get to see Springfield in much more detail than you do on the show. The negatives about the game are that it is quite repetitive and it takes an extensive long haul or a tedious intensive amount of game play (depending on how much time you have and you're gaming style) to beat the game. The sayings each character says are funny at first but after the 100th time of hearing the characters say the same thing, it becomes somewhat annoying. Also, you have to have 2 game cards to play the multiplayer mode and when you only have one game card and two people want to play, it can be aggravating. The game also has a slow load up time so that after you finish a round, it takes about 3-5 minutes before you get to play again.

There is a mission mode on the game as well. It consists of 10 differet missions that are fairly easy to beat (I thought Grandma at the dam and Homer at Burns' mansion were the most difficult levels). If you beat all 10 levels a secret vehicle is unlocked.

THE SIMPSONS ROAD RAGE can be a lot of fun to play. It's basically an average racing video game that's more interesting because of the characters and setting. However, it would make a nice gift for any Simpsons fan and is fun to play on a rainy day.

Once sentence captures it all - "Pretty lame - Millhouse". (For those who are Simpson illiterates, that's Mrs. Krabapple describing Millhouse's science fair project. Millhouse bellows "Behold the power of gravity!", and then lets a slinky step once down a ramp.)

There are so many great games that I wish they would copy and insert Simpsons characters in. The only time I ever played Doom on the PC was when someone installed the Simpson?s wad. To be Homer Simpson and to fight giant Flanders throwing Bibles at you me was great fun. Of course, when they blatantly copied a game, they had to blatantly copy one of the worst games out there - Crazy Taxi. Why couldn't they copy something good, like Grand Theft Auto 3. They could have had a hit with Grand Theft Donut.

The fact it's the Simpsons and you drive through Springfield is pretty cool. That's about it. The 10 missions levels are decent enough to finish, but aren't exactly fun. The graphics are decent, and they actually have the characters speak which is somewhat fun, though not clever or laugh out loud funny.

The main game consists of getting money to unlock cars and levels and to get one million dollars. Each time you go through a run, you gain about $6000. The run takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Every 20-30 grand, you can unlock a new level or a new character. The unfortunate thing is that after 10 rounds, you've done pretty much all there is to do, and the novelty factor wears off. I got up to $70,000 before being thoroughly bored with this game. There was no way I was going to unlock all six levels and all seventeen characters. No way would I even consider trying to get one million dollars, the monotony would have killed me.

The Simpsons' Road Rage is a game that gets old really, really fast. It's fun for about 5 hours max. Rent it if you're curious, but you'll be disappointed.
