Driven Away!

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 0 / 2

Great graphics, storyline, audio and features. I couldn't give it five stars due to the initial problems I had loading it...freeze and crash. However, I was running an ATI Radeon 8500 with only 64 MB of memory. It runs VERY WELL on the GeForce4 Ti 4600 with 128 MBs. So if you have the right equipment, I recommend this game.

Ok this is the best game ever. I was so exited to play it wgen I realized that my grafics card didn't have enough power, so my dad got a new one. It was well worth the wait. You can beat the krap out of people, go on joy rides, killing sprees, or just do missions.

Have FUN

Nice Concept, Terrible Programming

I think I would enjoy this game much, MUCH more if it wasn't doing the following:

1- Failing to start half the time.
2- Lagging and stuttering during gameplay.
3- Crashing to the desktop.
4- Locking up my system.
5- Giving "Unhandled Exception" errors.

I have an Athlon XP 1900+, 1 GB of PC2700 memory, and an ATI Radeon 8500 with 128 MB of memory so the system is not underpowered. Every other game I have zips along nicely at 1600x1200x32 with all the bells & whistles turned on; GTA3 limps at 1024x768x16 with half the options turned down or off. I have 25+ games on my computer as well as numerous apps and the ONLY problems I have are with GTA3 so I'm pretty confident that the problem is not with my computer. If you don't believe me, search a few forums (like GTA3Forums, for example) and see all the problems people are having with the PC version. What it boils down to is RockStar got greedy & did a quick port of the PS2 game without doing much testing or optimization for the PC. So while some people have no problems with the game, an unusally large group of people have problems to some degree with the game.

The patch that came out didn't do anything to improve the game so I contacted their tech support. They told me to uninstall the game, delete everything (including my saved games), clean the registry, and reinstall. Besides wasting my time, it did absolutely nothing. When they come out with Vice City for the PC, I will wait a LONG time before I purchase it. Most likely they will fix the problems by that time, so until then I have an expensive coaster.

Greed is NOT good. Don't feed their greed. Wait for them to fix the problems with the game before you waste your money (unless you enjoy frustration, of course).

PC version is weak

If you buy the PC version, be warned that it has a number of problems. (a) It crashes. (b) The controls are [poor]. I have a WingMan joystick, with a throttle, torso twist, etc. There was *no way* for me to drive the car using the joystick. The throttle was totally ignored for speed purposes, and I couldn't even steer using the joystick!

This game may rate a 5 star on the console, but on the PC it still needs a lot of work.

Frustrating game

GTA3 is indeed an amazing game. It has a large environment, decent graphics and decent gameplay. But it's too often unnecessarily complicated. Some of the missions are next to impossible to finish, which makes the game more frustrating than needed. I really tried to like the game...

This game series just keeps getting better and better. I have all of them now. The best one is GTA3. The way that Tommy moves and has the ability to kill the people in so many ways. I have this game on PC and it kicks .... Some of the missions are really hard. Like the one were you have to kill "Chunky" Lee Chong. The hard part is when you get the car if it gets a scratch you have to take it back to the "Spray & Go"
Now this game is bloody, violent, and has alot of sexual content. If you have little kids then I would only play this when they aren't there. One of the cool things about this game is that you can do any thing that you want. Bash in some guys head with a bat, do a drive by. Just be crazy. Find some one to kill but be sure to check what there wearing. Don't mess with the Traids or the Diablos. Lots of blood, violence and every thing that you imagination can think of.

Could have been better for PC

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 0 / 2

The PC version is mostly a rip from the Console game version (PS-2), but could have been so much more. It's still a fun game, but they could have made a much more immersive environment with the PC version. They should have included a more strategic aspect to the game, but instead, it is simple missin based action which have few consequences after they are complete, (or at least, very predictable consequences)

Notwithstanding, its still worth it if you like 3rd person action games.

GTA-3 is a Simply the Best game of the year 2002!!!!!!
