AWESOME GAME

This is one of the BEST games on PS2. Definetly a must play.

I have played all of the Devil May Cry games and this game is pure gold.

The second DMC was a let down, but it was fun. It had wild game play. The first one was cool, dynamic, fresh and hip. The third one combines all of these together and punches you in the face.

DMC 3 was one hell of a wild ride with good music as a bonus.

However, I have one problem. It has been established that the American "normal mode" is the Japanese "hard mode." Many have even said that it was harder than ninja gaiden. I was nervous when I picked it up. I honestly thought I was not going to get past the first few levels...

Then I played it...

DMC 3 is one of those games where reflexes are important. I beat the first 6 levels while dying very little times. This games was challenging, but not hard. The game has a high learning curve. You can master moves really easily and all of the monster+bosses have an attack pattern that is easy to remember. The moment I put this game in, I felt like it was not for rookie gamers. You have to be persistent and have a damn good reaction time.

Easy mode opens up after you die three times. I didn't get easy mode until stage 4. I also beat normal without needing to play easy mode.

In the end, I felt that all the difficulty hype was trash. The game does not feel progressively harder and harder. Rather, it feels like a test of thought. You really have to come up with strategies on the fly. I think its perfect because, each level challenges something different. There were levels that I considered easy, that others completely hated.

Ex. I hated the level where you are timed and you have to defeat 2 mini bosses and a time freezing Unicorn final boss. I beat without dying and going through my first time playing the level. When I look back it, I barely survived and never played the level again. ha ha ha ha ha I know people that foud this level a breeze.

However, thats what makes DMC great. It has something challenging for all players. Yet, I must say this: Don't let the difficulty stories scary you. I beat the game on normal and hard without ever touching easy mode. Most of the later levels I even played through without dying. GIVE IT A TRY! This games does not deserve to be ignored.

This is just one of those games to test your intelligence and reflexes.

How do you beat the game without entering easy mode. Memorize patterns and build you default Trickster setting. It is freaking amazing. Using trickster made the battles so much more easier than they were shown to be. Also, every boss attacks in a pattern.

Eventually, you will get better and wonder why this game is called hard. I know I did.

Anyways, DMC has this:

Great Story
Great Music
Great Cenima Cut Scenes
Great Weapons
Great Modes
GREAT EVERY THING

10 out of 10!!!!!!!

Dante is ba- I mean.. is born

DMC3 improves upon just about everything it's two predecessors laid out, including it's legendary original. The crazy thing though about DMC3 is that it is a prequil, which may baffle some of those expecting it to be just as good as it's original.

The variety of things that Dante can do should be the first selling point of this game. With easily at least 50+ moves at his disposal, many gamers will just be awestruck by the variety of things Dante can do in this run of DMC. The slight downside though is that you cannot perform them all at once, as Dante has to chose from 1 of 6 different styles that change the layout of his controls. This creates an interesting strategy for each player though as the game progresses, so it guarantees much replay value for those who want to try the game out in different ways each time.

Another selling point for DMC3 is the increased arsenal at Dante's disposal. Dante has now more weapons than ever to play with, and all of them are much different from the traditional 'sword and guns' approach in DMC2. While I will not divuldge into details, these weapons heavily add onto the amount of variety and content in the game, and give the gamer a sheer feel of 'coolness' eminating from the arrogant red coated devil hunter.

The music in DMC3 is stellar as usual. It is more heavy metal than the last two DMC's, but that is alright. The added in 'evil voice' that sings on all of the songs gives the game an added macho feel that is a definente need since DMC2 was rather quiet and generic despite it being a DMC game.

Graphics are stellar as well, although there probably could have been some pre-rendered cut scenes.

Overall DMC3 improves upon just about everything the first game had. It brings the strength back to the series that it lost with DMC2, and definently leaves the gamer wanting another DMC very soon.

Better than Part 2...still not great

Devil May Cry 3, definately a step up from part 2 but in my opinion not even close to part one. I figured I would give this series another shot with this one, even though being very dissapointed with part 2. DMC 3 is definately better, just in story alone (which means alot). The main thing I didn't like was that it was very cheesy at times, alot of the dialogue could've been alot better. It was a fun game but I didn't take it very seriously. I think that was the makers theroy not to take it too seriously. This game is definately alot harder than the previous two though, that's the main thing I liked about it, it's not one of those games that you can beat in a day or three. Other than this series getting a little redundant on game play, it's still worth checking out

Who would've thought disembowling demons can be so fun?

I know. Iknow. Devil May Cry 2 didn't do so well. Regardless, Devil May Cry 3 certainly redeems its former title. The main character, Dante, goes back to his roots to get an intense gaming experience. Slicing, Stabbing, and Ripping apart your enemies is just the beginning. You can choose various fighting styles to string various combos together. Nothing gives you more satisfaction than when you're in swordmaster mode and you've just rocketed a demon into the air with your sword, defied gravity while repeatedly slicing him, landing and suspend him lifelessly in the air with a relentless barrage of bullets. This game is worth every penny

Thank you, Capcom!

I am so suprised that after the god-awful Devil May Cry 2, Capcom was able to make this series great again! It totally gets the series back on it's feet, and I think Capcom's ready for more if they can make another sequel (this one's a prequel) that's either this good or better. Maybe not better because this one's even better than number 1! If you loved Devil May Cry 1, and you can't deny, this one will make you extremly happy.

2 Bishonen for the price of one.

The main blerb is:: Sparta's twin sons have difference to work out. And it's true. Vergil is introduced finally as the older twin of him and Dante.

So what makes this game so much fun besides the fact you can play as one cool hunky teen bishonen version of Dante? Well the way he moves. If you ignore Lady and the disguisting Veran chick, this game is fantastic.

Dante returns with new moves and can change his class to Swordsmater, Gunslinger, Dopplerganger, Timemaster and more. He is alot more energetic then in his other 2 games and has more of an attitude but it still makes him hot either way.

This game is for any Bishonen Fan, and remember there are plenty of Slash elements, especially Dante's words to his brother Vergil upon their meeting. "How about a kiss from your little brother?"

If you haven't been listenning to E3's information, get all 3 games and get ready for Devil May Cry 4 on PS3 next year the screenshots for both have already been released.

NON STOP ACTION-- A Must Have

This game is my absolute favorite game of all time. Easily the best out of the 3 Devil May Cry's, this one has different styles such as gunslinger, swordmaster, royalguard, trickster, doppleganger, and quicksilver. These skills totally determine how you play the game. They allow you to use your weapons differently with each type of style, for example, swordmaster allows you to do huge combos with your sword, maximizing damage. It all depends on how you like to play. This game also has amazing replay value since there are about 7 difficulties and multiple levels to your skills. Plus, when you gain levels with your skills, you unlock more moves to destroy all those devils with. Not only are the moves awesome, but the bosses you face are simply amazing looking. They look cool and they are pretty hard making this game a lot more fun. On the third level, after dying for the third time against the huge three headed beast, the game decided to taunt me with 3 words, "easy mode unlocked." Oh the shame it brought me, being the prized gamer i am. Thats how hard it is, you have to beat it on easy before you move onto normal. You just can't do it. Easily one of the best games this year, i know you'll enjoy it just as much as i did. Yes, i have beaten it, even though it took a good ten hours.

This was the Green Orb that revitalized this series

First off, I just want to say, you could be a hardcore gamer, a person just introduced to video games, or someone that owns a few games, either way, I guarantee you will enjoy this game, however, there is a huge probability you will get your ass kicked by these demons. I have beaten the first Devil May Cry 3 times, once on "Hard" mode, and I haven't progressed very far in this game. However, this game is so incredible it'll be worth attempting the missions over until success is reached.
One concern I have with this game is that there are no check points and it gets ridiculous. Playing for 25 minutes and dying isn't very rewarding. It gets so frustrating at times and very annoying.
Something I think a lot of people will enjoy is that the gameplay is simply amazing. The pace is incredibly action-packed and it seems as if it never stops.
What you'll notice is that the game itself resembles the first Devil May Cry so much, it even has the same sounds as the first one and I'm excited to say it's nothing like the second. You will have weapons such as your sword, your two handguns, a shotgun, electric numchucks, etc.
What fans of the first will discover is that Dante has his arogance again and a lot more than before too. Which brings about that the story isn't absolutely sensational or the dialogue for that matter, to the point where Dante and his feuding brother, Vergil, grow closer.
Overall, the hype isn't as good as the first, but it is definitely far from the second, and it stands to be a remembered title for Capcom.

The Devil has returned in this series

Devil May Cry 1 (DMC) was a really good game but was too short and it didn't have a good storyline, DMC2 was a pure deception, now Devil May Cry 3 goes back to the roots but improves every single point.

Gameplay: 9.5/10
--------
I start with the most important, the gameplay of course, DMC3 has the best fighting system, you can easily switch between 2 guns and 2 swords using L2 and R2, allowing to develop great custom combos, you can even jump on many demons and use them as a skateboard while at the same time shooting at other enemies around! You can really do crazy stuff and combine all this, it all depends on you and your imagination. Best of all, you're REWARDED for your playstyle like in DMC1 so the more you vary your moves the better your style and the more orbs you receive (which in turns increases your final score for the level)...

The game features 6 styles, 4 of them are accessible from the beginning:

-Trickster: allows you to avoid walk on walls and avoid attacks easily
-Swordmaster: allows you to create some devastating combos with your swords
-Gunslinger: like swordmaster but with the guns
-Royal guard: allows you to block enemies attacks and send their energy back to any enemy

Each of those skills are upgradeable to level2 and level3, which unlocks other deadly moves. Swordmaster and Gunslinger even feature many weapon-specific moves.
The 2 other styles are Quicksilver, which allows you to slow down time, and Doppelgagner, allows you to create a copy of yourself!

=> The best gameplay you could ask from an action game.

Lastability: 9/10
-----------
This point is also very important cause you don't want to buy a $50 game if you're going to finish it within 3 hours and then don't want to play the game anymore right? Don't worry it'll take you at least 15 hours to complete the game in normal difficulty, and a lot more if you want to complete the 12 special missions, and even after you'll still want to play the game again just because the fights are a lot of fun and you want to develop and try all the 4 styles, upgrade every weapon, and you'll also unlock new difficulty levels. Wonder how powerful you are now against enemies in early missions, especially with your new moves and weapons? Try it, still too easy? Try in harder difficulty.

=> For an action game, the lastability/replayability is really high.

Graphics: 9/10
--------
Graphics are just gorgeous, real time shadows, particle effects, all this moves at 60fps and unlike DMC1 the game has many different locations.
In some rare places it's possible to cause a little slowdown if you pull an incredible move while having a lot of enemies at the screen.
Also sometimes a BIT of aliasing is visible, it really doesn't matter at all.

=> One of the best looking games on the PS2

Sound: 9/10
-----
English voices are great, they were already in english in the japanese version so you know you the original audio which is often the best. Soundtracks are nice, some people might complain about the Zombie music during the fights but I don't think they could find anything better, it's really adequate.

=> Great sound especially if you like the genre

Difficulty: 9.5/10
----------
This is what many reviews complained about, including 1up and gamespot, saying the game was way too difficult, but I disagree with them. First, after you die a few times the Easy mode is unlocked so if you really see that you're not good enough then play the easy mode.
The game is unforgiveable if you don't think a little bit and try to attack non stop, you'll then get hit many times in a row and die within seconds; so try to notice when enemies are going to attack (you can usually see AND hear them preparing for an attack) and then go away/jump/double jump/roll/attack before him or block (with royal guard)...
Bosses fights require you to understand how to beat them too, that is, see what their weaknesses could be (they're often vulnerable after an attack etc).

=> The best thing about the difficulty compared to most recent games is that DMC3 forces you to think and play well, so you actually become a better action game player.

Conclusion: this is the best 3rd person action game I've played on any format.

THE BEST IN THE SERIES!!!!!!!1

The original devil may cry was a hit and the second wasn't even in its league, but capcom have realized their mistakes and realeased the third installment in the series and to say in one word for devil may cry 3 :FANTASTIC.

Capcom has reinvented the gameplay for this game and the graphics are also not to be overlooked. The best features in the game are the choices of gunslinger, swordmaster, trickster and royal guard. This satisfies the hunger for thousands of gamers who have one preferance over the four.

The gameplay for each type of skill is unique. The feature which allows you to acces new levels of combat in swordmaster is also a worthy addition.Although each new action requires a considerable amount of red orbs, they can be found in abundance in each level

The difficulty in this game is something that really got to me.Man ,when i read all these reviews saying the game was extremenly difficult, i remembered ninja gaiden. When i played the game and crossed a few levels i got only one thing to say.YOU HAVE TO MASTER THE MOVES IN THIS GAME AND PLAY A STRATEGY FOR EACH BOSS.The game tortures you to master its moves otherwise you have to begin from the starting of the level AGAIN.

The soundtrack is pretty good.Continuous Rock music ,but its an excellent addition to the intense fighting sequences.

Dante ,the hero of the game is not an adult with good table manners. He's a fast talking, drum playing, demon slashing and party loving slayer.Seeing he's the son of sparda vergil dosen't follow dante's footsteps.DANTE REALLY ROCKS IN THIS GAME.

In conclusion I have one thing to say.Whether you're a fan of the series or not a fan (I wasn't) buy this game. Its probably the best game on the PS2 and will keep you on your toes for a long time.
