Devil May Cry Cause He's Out Of Continues...

Here, finally, is Capcom's answer to its critics. While the original DMC was a great game, and a true classic in every sense of the word, its sequel DMC 2 was pretty much roasted by all and sundry, and denounced as boring by the gaming press in general. Capcom have turned back to the drawing board and kept this second sequel in development for longer, perhaps, than expected, but believe me, the rewards are palpable.

GRAPHICS: 5/5

Top marks go for visuals, with smooth and clean animations, INSANE levels of detail (even on the lowliest of enemies) and some really impressive backdrops. Sure, they don't seem as impressive anymore - what could better the original experiece of DMC 1? - but if you look closely at the enemies, bosses, accessories and animations, you'll gain a very fast and very deep appreciation for all that Capcom has accomplished here. Gorgeous, fluid and very, very pleasing, the neo-Goth wasteland that Dante and his cohorts occupy is nothing short of remarkable. Action cutscenes are of the type that Jet Li can only dream about, and the whole visual shebang runs along like a freight train on speed.

SOUND: 3/5

Not so good. Humdrum battle tunes and odd blends of metal and trance provide a well-fitting, if somewhat uninspiring, aural experiecne. Voice acting's as lousy as ever, with the younger Dante bearing more of a vocal resemblance to Steve from Biohazard: Code Veronica than anything else. Weapon effects are satisfyingly macho, though, and the demons make some pretty plausible sounds when on the receiving end of your arsenal.

PLAYABILITY: 4/5

Minus one for the F Word - Frustration. Dante controls like a dream - it's tighter and easier to master than before, with combos and style points racking up hand-over-fist... ...but that can't mask the fact that, in places, this game is just too damned hard. For the casual gamer, DMC 3 is a definite no-no, and if you're like me and adore this series, you'll still be put off by having to play through the same level ad nauseam before you work out how to defeat the horrifyingly difficult bosses. It's a sad flaw in a control system and in-game physics that are nigh-on perfect, but there you are.

OVERALL: 4/5

A beautiful game that is, on the whole, very fun to play, and very reminiscent of the excellent original title, DMC 3 is just a little too demanding for its own good to be truly considered a Classic. If you have patience, or can get it cheap, it's thoroughly recommended, but the more casual gamer will be disappointed by the unforgiving difficulty and the bland audio effects. Still, on the whole, Capcom is to be congratulated for rescuing one of its most promising series to date.

Roll on DMC 4!

Meaning, it's a hard game but if you're a fan or commited to what you do then you can get through the game. The game is AMAZING in 1 way....

1: Style: you can choose your style!! I don't exactly know if I unlock all of them but there are 5 to my knowlage.
a.TRICKTER-dodge your enemies with ease
b.SWORDMASTER-use weapon combination to vanquish your enemies
c.GUNSLINGER-use the craziest gun combinations to be even better than the best in the west.
d.ROYALGUARD-this is 1 of the new ones. Now you can BLOCK!! and use that power against your enemies (note: you can't do this to bosses or to some enemies).
e.(you need to unlock this one) QUICKSILVER-you will have the power to stop time only for the amount of devil trigger you have.

This helps in many ways: if you like to shoot take the GUNSLINGER style and if you are always in melee combat choose SWORDMASTER, etc.
Also to remind you this is a prequel which is fun 'cuz you get learn a bit more about Dante's history. Unlike the other 2 DMC's you have to wait until the 6th or 9th mission to get the DT(devil trigger) which it's a drag. I recommend that you rent first because if you play it the whole time you can beat the game.... but it is still fun.

After, playing the original Devil May Cry I had high hopes for this series. Then, Capcom released Devil May Cry 2. Which, was a crying shame. Now, Devil May Cry 3 has revitalized the series. This fast paced action game is a blast to play. It's clear that Capcom made an effort to make a quality game after, the sequel to the original DMC was bashed by critics in everyway possible. I'am glad they made the effort because, DMC was one of my favorite games of all time. DMC 3 isn't quite as good as the original but, it's a good game and, anyone who enjoys action games should buy it. If, your not looking for a fast paced action game and, you need to have a great storyline to enjoy a game, this is not for you. Everyone else, Do it, Do it.

This game rocks even touh the exeption of the last game was bull@!@#

This game was one of my favorite of all time. This is the epitome of what video-games are all about; let me explain. When you first starts this game, it is insanely hard. The first boss can make you cry. However, there is a way, and it's a way leading to ultimate joy. First of all, just accept the fact that you suck. You suck big time. Why? Because this game takes experience. It's like picking up street fighter and playing against an experienced player. They'll beat you over and over, and you will give up very quickly in disgust. This isn't THAT bad, but it'll take a while to not suck anymore. Now, the trick is to save the game, so you can save your demon blood and increase your power. When you die, you'll keep your demon blood. Use it to buy power-ups to compensate for your suckiness. Increase your life, upgrade your guns and buy all your moves. Now that you've died multiple times, you should have some practice. As long as you've been paying attention and not doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result, you should have developed some skill. Play it on easy the first time through. Now, if you experiment, saving regularly and be persistent, you'll find yourself not sucking very much.

What I'm saying is, this combat system is deep and complex with extremely well designed gameplay and enemies. It's not hard in a "I have to get lucky to beat it" type hard. It doesn't cheat winning isn't random. Each enemy presents a different challenge with different techniques to use and your weapons and fighting styles match up well on some better than others. This all takes time to learn. It can take a LOT of experimenting to find a really good way to win. I recommend to most people, use gamefaqs.com or something. Most aren't as patient as I am. However, I had a blast learning how to beat everyone to death. You know how I mentioned street fighter earlier? Using the beowulf gauntlets, you get a dragon punch that finishes with a hurricane kick at its appex. Now, THAT is heaven. Just remember, to get to this point, you have to stick out sucking, just like with a street fighter or soul calliber. But it gives amazing replay and gratification. By the time I got tired of this game, playing on easy and normal was way too easy. Hard kept me entertained. Dante must die was irritating. I just used super devil cheat on that. Anyway, I can't recommend this game enough. Well, I gave it 4 overall because Dante is kinda out-dated 90's party dude and the graphics aren't great. No game is perfect.

all i can say is...WOW

this is simply the greatest game ever created. there is no other way i can put this. the graphics are good, the weapon selection is amazing, the storyline is great, the boss fights are awesome, it does great filling in the story of what happened prior to the original dmc, the unlockables are cool, the game modes are all nice (especialy the new heaven or hell mode) and this game has without a doubt the greatest replay value ever. i bought dmc3 the day it came out praying to be brought back by the dissapointing filth of a sequel that was dmc2 and ive been playing it every day since. this really is an amazing game and much more lengthy than its predecessors. a good 10-12 hrs can be put in your first time through. all i can say against it is that it is a bit on the hard side, but i liked that. im sick of playing the same easy slice n' dice action game again and again. overall, out of 5 stars, i give it a 10. (yes i can count its just off the charts good.) capcom has done amazingly well considering what happened with dmc2. great job guys. BUY THIS GAME!!!

Keep at it and it will pay off!

DMC3 is by far one of the best games I've ever played. And one of the hardest. Don't listen to people who tell you to give up. If you do you'll be missing out on alot. Dante may spout some lame lines here and there (he's young in this so it's excusable) but the storyline overall is one of the best ever written. It was like playing a movie instead of a game and I became to wrapped up in the story to the point where no matter how diffcult it became I had to move on to find out what will happen next. I'm not kidding, the plot and character developement is better than you'll find in most movies.

**tips for those still having trouble**

There is a cheat code that unlocks everything including different Dante outfits. Find that code (at any cheat site) and after you enter it pick the Dante outfit with the purplish smokey arua around him. If you play with that one you will have unlimited Devil Trigger which will help you out a lot. I don't think I would have made it without it. Also when I nearly completed the game I went back and replayed mission 2. It's somewhat changed since last time I played including a Boss fight added in (The Scythe wielding Raven thing) and more demons to kill. It was really fun and it allowed me to stock up on more orbs faster especially since it adds Rank and Boss points. That allowed me to purchase extra life and even holy water for the final two missions.

Remember, don't listen to the quitters! It's a great game!

The Best Game Ever. Has anyone finished the last level though?

Yeah, this is the best action game ever. The story is really interesting, although the ending was a bit too dramatic. I know a lot of gamers had problem with the level of this game, and I had the same problem as well. But I managed to finish this game in devil must die mode yesterday. It was fun, but it also unlocked another level. You are not going to believe this, but in the last level if you get hit even once you die. Yes, anybody that you hit will die instantly but that goes for you too. Very Very difficult to get past this first level.

Ok, that was a little corny the above title, but enough b.s. This is the true sequel/prequel to Devil May Cry. In fact, they should rename this Devil May Cry 3: Let's Forget 2 Ever Existed. First off, the graphics have been rebuilt from the ground up, and is one of the best looking games on the PS2, with the only exceptions being MGS3 and God of War. Dante and the rest of the characters are very detailed. Even the enemies are decently animated(the bosses look really good though.) The cineamatics are some of the best action sequences in games, period. It's the kind that most action games and movies salivate at. 2nd, sound is great as well. Granted, Dante does come off a little too cocky for his own good, but not too annoying. The rest of the cast is exceptionally well done, seeing how this is Capcom and they have a reputation of hiring the worst actors around. This time, they did a good job. Music is a mixed bag. I liked it, but for people that hate heavy metal, they're not going to like this. But the gothic vibe is strong and really fits the game. Now the combat. DMC3 is an action gamer's wet dream come true because now, you can choose from several different fighting styles: Trickster(evasion),Swordmaster,Gunslinger, and Royal Guard. The rest is a secret. The best part is that you select 2 melee weapons and 2 long range weapons and switch through them on the fly. The combos are near endless as a result. Replay value is pretty high here, with extra difficulty levels(like it needs to get any harder, huh?), different costumes and loads of other cool extras. My only complaints are I wish the game was a little longer and its difficulty may be a little too much for the casual gamer. Overall, I give it a 5 out of 5 stars. Only other game that compares to this is God of War(which I will be reviewing shortly).

This game was really good. The only setback is it is too hard. It might be hard but I will still give it five stars. The graphics in this game are awsome. This game in the sound department is great,if you like heavy meatal. The gameplay is great too. You can customize what style you want the main character Dante to have. This game has some RPG elements. You can purchase items, new tricks, and you can upgrade items. Overall this game is a fun mix of a hack and slash/RPG game
