i was disappointed with the multiplayer demo...

it was more like a really good quake 3 mod than a game. it's actually funny how they use the "quad-damage" model for when a person is on fire. anyway... don't buy this game... although i loved the original i believe that this will be a let down. just wait until Medal of Honor: Allied Assult comes out.

Remember the 2-bit graphics and sound of the early 90's WOLFENSTEIN made by ID software (makers of QUAKE series)? If you liked that... play this and the memories will come fludding back to you.

A extordinary multiplayer game with a fine single-player

You have probably heard this before, but the multiplayer part of this game ROCKS. It focuses on team-based action, with several character class that are used to support one-another. The multiplayer will make this game live on in imfamy and is alone enough to purchase it. The single player, however, falls short of a few elements that while don't bring it down entirely, they prevent it from being excellent.

One thing is for sure: this game looks wonderful. Every detail is wonderfully captured with the quake 3 engine, and the flame effects are some of the best you have ever seen on your 16 inch monitor. It is ashame the developers didn't make the single-player game as wonderful as the graphics

The most serious thing I think is the fact that the main character, B.J., doesn't say a frickin word in the whole thing. I didn't mind Gordon not saying a word, nor Lt. Powell, but that to let to immerse yourself in the game. B.J. has an attitude, but you rarely see it. It also seems that the developers did things to avoid him talking. Like instead of Rosevelt briefing him, he would tell some guy named Jack what he told B.J. to do. Why doesn't Jack do the frickin missions instead.

The story is fine, but some of the cutscenes may make you fall asleep. This is cause of the fact that B.J. isn't in ANY of the briefings. They are just president Rosevelt talking to jack and 2 other guys, who wants to see that. This game is sopposed to borrow elements from "No One Lives Forever", but I could watch a 6 minute cutscene from that game and listen to every bit of it. In this game a 1 minute cutscene seems to long.

Everything else about the single player game is good (the mission design is exceptional) It still can only be considered a bonus for this game.

Almost Perfect

First off you should know that this game is worth purchasing for the multiplayer alone. THE MULTIPLAYER MODE IS PERFECT. Counter-Strike, eat your heart out. Now what keeps the whole game from being perfect is the single player. IT ISN'T BAD. But were not talking about Half-Life single player here. There are four things in my opinion that are wrong with the single player. #1 The biggest one is the poor AI in this game. The AI is no better then most of the BOT programs that you can download for Counter-Strike off the internet. #2 The game itself is a little short. Now, I wasn't expecting the length of Half-Life, but they could have worked in a few more levels. #3 This last boss is way too easy. Most of the bigger enemies in the game are harder then he is. #4 The ending was a let down. It's lasts like an entire minute. Most of the cinematic scenes in the game are longer then the ending. Oh well, lets hope they work out all the bugs for the expansion pack "RTCW: Enemy Territory" due out this Christmas.

Pros:
One of the, if not the, Best Multiplayer Modes Ever!
The Single player story is above average.
The Graphics!
Counter-Strike had met it's match in terms of Multiplayer.
The Quake III Engine was made for this game!
...
Did I mention the PERFECT Multiplayer Mode!

Cons:
The AI in the single player game is pretty bad!
The Single Player Game is a little on the short side!
You need at least 5 people on each team in multiplayer to have a good game!
WHERE ARE THE BOTS!
The last boss is a joke!
Unsatisfying Ending!

This is an awesome price on one of the best games ever made. Do yourself a favor and purchase this game as soon as possible.

Listen, this game has been in development for two-and-a-half years. Of course, the Quake 3 Arena engine was incorporated because its the prettiest engine around. Licensing of engines is not a new thing. It helps us play the games we want sooner than when developers try and reinvent the wheel. I played the multiplayer test and I have to tell you, if the single player game is good (which I'm sure it will be) it'll be the Half-Life killer we've all been waiting for. The negative reviews are cynical and written by people who think they know everything there is to know about game development. So, until we're able to play the masterpieces these naysayers are obviously working so diligently on, we have a classic NOW with Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Fun, but not the original Wolfenstein 3D

When I bought this game, I was hoping for an unchanged redo of the original Wolfenstein. I was wrong, but the new Wolfenstein is a fun game. To run this game, you need an up-to-date computer, with various "cards" to run the new Wolfenstein. The fun I have so far had playing this, is no where near the fun of the original Wolfenstein. Plus, the new Wolfenstein cost a lot of money.

Save you money! Get the original Wolfenstein off of Amazon.com. You will have saved your money, AND be playing a much better game.

ok hats off to this game.The multiplayer is awesome,superb....and everything positive you can say.This game never ever gets boring because the developers are adding new maps all the time and so you can always play new maps and so you never get bored.The multiplayer is the key feature of this game....so you must have a DSL/cable connetion to really enjoy the multiplayer.The graphics,sounds are phenomenal...the axis have commands in German accent,and allies have commands in english (USA version like yee-haw etc).This game is a must buy beacuase it never ever gets boring.I salute this god of games!

Just got it, read "Not for joystick", but maybe soon a newer version. What's that? Needs keyboard, lots of commands. I'll probably try it, but for $50, I expect it Joystick compatible!!!

This game is awesome! I can't beleive how great it is! I waited since I beat the first on in '91 for another to come. Now... a decade later... it's finally here! Awesome game. Totally love it! Try not to use cheats. The undead like to sneak up on you, and they are kinda scary (eeeeeeeeee!). (... )But, it is an awesome game. Wonderful, exciting, marvelous. Buy it. And keep AWAY from those chick guards.
