This game only has its graphics going for it. Besides that the game is boring. There is not must to the characters and it is completely hack and slash. It reminds me of diablo, except I thought diablo is better than this game. Don't buy this game, wait for neverwinter nights.

A good try... a worthwhile investment

Just to give you a good idea of the kind of player that I am, I'll give you a list of games that appealed to me. Personally, I never took much stock in people who declared games "awesome... the best..." without first having a means to compare our opinions of games.

So, the list of games that you'd find in my library:
Diablo I & II (summer vacation late night lan parties)
Baldur's Gate II
Darksun II
Ultima 6 & 7
Might and Magic 6, 7 & 8

Those above rank a good 4 - 5 on my scale, and to Dungeon Siege, I'll give a 3.

For it's revolutionary concepts such as:
- pack mules (wonderful idea)
- a completely unique class system leaving it to the user to find the right mix of skills that reflect their style of play(both a positive and negative)
- multiple spell themes (conjurer, fire, ice mage etc)
- no waiting in between area loading
- a dynamic pc image that changes based on equipment

As well as drawbacks such as:
- a lack of creature depth (who thinks ice creatures should have cold resistance?)
- lack of replayability (once you get down to it, going online and killing the same creatures over and over and over again - diablo style if you're into that sort of thing)
- majority of spells are 'beefed up' versions of earlier spells rather than each having unique concepts.

Cool graphics , the map [is bad] You can't see where you've been unless you back track or mark it out as you go on paper.

Nice atmosphere - tedious gameplay

For the real hard-core RPG party micro-managers out there this game will provide hours of diversion. However, if we step past the beautiful graphics and dynamic music, we stumble into a game of linear boredom. The problem with RPG's like this is that the myriad of level upgrades and weapon/spell choices completely overwhelm the majority of gamers. YES, the environments are lovely and the pack mule IS a good idea but ultimately the 'click attack' and 'constant checking of health bars' becomes really tiresome. It's a pity, because Dungeon Seige does attempt to appeal to the more casual RPG'er.
Overall, a solid and commendable attempt at appealijg to the non-RPG'er. At a budget price it's well worth a look.

okie, it just got better

i used to hate this because it was boring, but basicly i found out i didn't like it becuze it was too hard. So now that i'm using cheats, its more fun, but it isn't 5 stars becuase its pointless hack and slash, but entertaining at some points, with cool magic, so 3 stars.

Beautiful game

Beautiful graphics. The maps, effects, models, weapons are all gorgeous.

The money system is severely flawed.

The story has some neat twists (especially with technology).

But while the character models are 3D, they are pretty 2D once they join your party. Nothing like the Baldur's Gate characters.

The boss monsters are lame. Very Nintendo.

Once you finish it, you'll uninstall it.

Still, it's worth playing once.

Great Adventure Game

I thought that Dungeon Siege was an excellent game. I am by no means a first person shooter player & prefer games that have a little strategy & thought required. Although this game is linear, meaning you follow a certain path to conclusion & can't deviate away from it (very much any ways) you do have to do a little creative thinking when it comes to launching your attacks on various enemies. (some can be quite tricky) The story was entertaining, the graphics were great, and it held my attention beautifully. No ADD issues with this game!! Would recommend this game to anyone that wants to play a fantasy/adventure without all the running around with just a gun on the screen shooting anything you see.

This game is totally FABOULOUS!!!!

I just downloaded the trial version of Dungeon Seige. Its too cool! I love it so much that I had to buy the full version! Its even better that I expected!!! I fully recommend that the whole world get this game!!! I'm not that much into gaming. I thought that the Sims were the end, but when I found this, well, my mind changed very fast! I could'nt give this game enough kudos!!!

Gorgeous-looking, simple and accessible.

... Dungeon Siege is that gorgeous, curvaceous, friendly, but empty-headed blonde(or should I say, redhead?) from your neighborhood. And even though you really love to discuss latest developments in rocket science with your Ph.D. colleagues, now and then you still might wanna call that pretty girl and take her out to a nightclub for some mindless fun. If you are all rocket science, and don't [money] at a game store. If you expect Baldur's Gate 75, a quick trip to official website will quickly tell you that you should look elsewhere - so please do not knock this game for what it never pretended to be. As ... games go, DS delivers 100%.
This out of the way, Dungeon Siege IS absolutely great-looking. You'll need some good silicon to squeeze the most of it (My 1.2GHz Athlon, 512MB DDR, GeForce2 Ultra is more than up to the task) Sound is great too.
What I REALLY love is character-development system. In this game it's very hard to find yourself stuck with something you don't really enjoy. Especially in early game, characters are flexible enough to adapt to your style. If you want to make Gloern a combat mage, and Merik an archer, all you need is a little effort.
Combat system is also a treat. If you feel confident, you can set attack modes, and send your party into carnage while you go fix a sandwich. Or you can micromanage by pausing, and ordering precisely every cast, swing, and arrow if the battle is tough.
To recap: If you want a game that looks and feels good, has simple gameplay, and just allows you to relax, give Dungeon siege a try.
