Not what I was hoping for.....

So, this is Microsoft's answer to Diablo? They need to stick to making Operating Systems and leave the games to the big boys. What this game needed was the graphically enhanced world it currently has mixed with the excellent game play that was present in Diablo II. Unlike Diablo, I have no desire to continue playing after I have beaten it. I was looking at a map of the world and it falls completely short of giving this game any longevity to the game play. Over all, the only really great thing about this game is the Graphics. The multiplayer version is so bad, I won't bother commenting on it.

One of the best RPG's I have ever played!

This game is like another version of everquest, with no monthly fee and an offline play system. however, i would like more than 8 players in a group, and more variations of monsters.

Dungeon Siege - Repetitive but Fun

I was excited to see how duneon siege would really turn out. At first, I thought it would be just a Diablo II clone in 3d. As it turns out, its not much different from Diablo II after all(I'm not saying this is a bad thing), yet it does many things differently and many things better. But some things go wrong.

But before that, lets look at what it does best. Graphics are awsome. So much attention to detail; you can actually see indiviual arrows shot by enemies stuck inside your players corpse. Some people may say that all you do in the game is click the left mouse button, but think about it...isn't that what you do in almost all games? Although I must admit there was quite a LOT of left mouse button clicking going on through most of the game.

The world is seamless and a bit large, sometimes I got stuck trying to find my way around huge rooms in which I barely stop fighting monsters. The good thing about alot of monsters is alot of items, but it really [is bad] when you get a valuable item, such as an Ice Bow, found early in the game in the ice caves, when all of your fighters are mages and swordsmen. What then? You have to go on a lot further until your next meeting with someone interested in being in your party. That takes a while.

If you are a hardcore RPG fan, this is for you. Obviously made for the hardcore RPGers by hardcore RPGers. Just don't show it to your mom if you are under 17.

hightech_not so fun.

i have a pc that is above average ...
(radeon 7500,p3_1ghz,512mb_w98se)
but this game is aimed at higher hard ware . BUT.
i'm having satisfaction with my pc ,so far because
radeon 's hardware TnL is paying off ,i guess.
graphics, effects ,sound and music are well built BUT!
you should not expect diablo style quest . nor should you
expect other rpg's fun.
Unless you go to internet or tcp/ip and play with kicking and alive team members .
Yes, not the AI team members you will meet.
you will meet new teammembers(AI)as you play on but they aren't as active as
human team members.
the story is quite simple (tasteless)
and i hope people with powerful hardware(cpu, vga) try this game
IF they have friends willing to play together.
i'm waiting for the expansion(if there is any comming out).
so people who do not have good hardware, wait untill you upgrade your pc and then buy the full set.
people who have good hardware but don't have friends to play with, go for other games.
great technology with lesser taste.

Demo is nice, game may be another matter

When diciding whether or not to buy a game i either try the demo or see it at a friend's house or some other way of see how the game compares to what it is cut out to be. In this case i used the demo. When i first started out i noticed many good things, and many not so good things. One of the good things is the camara angle, i could easily manuver the camara anywhere i wanted to get a good view of what i was doing. the graphics were also very good but the monsters were slightly disapointing. They dont have the greusome, wicked appearance as in other games such as Diablo II etc. The weapon system is a little dissapointing. You don't train in a certain weapon, you just find the weapon that does the most damage and use it if you can. Spells are generally the same. Also, i was trying to figure out 1. what is the point of mana when you have unlimited mana potions which can keep you going till doomsday, and 2. How exactly can you lose this game since i never even came close to dying because as soon as my health went below halfway i would use a healing potion and since i had an invantory full of those i was pretty much invinceable. Those are generally my complaints. The ups about this game are a few new things added in, such as the pack mule. Not a major advantage but a nice touch. Also the fact that you arnt stuck with certain people the entire game. You can choose which you want to hire and fire. I just wish they would have backround stories that might actually play a part in the overall storyline (whatever that is), which is the biggest problem of the lot. There is no storyline, no mystery, no suspence. You just fight your way to the end and thats it. The Krondor series was much better at doing this. Well, this is just my two cents. hope it helped.

It's good, but...

...it is repetative. While the concept is wonderful, the 3D graphics fairly impressive, there are no load times going from area to area, and the skills program is great--the game is repetative.

The entire game is comprised of nothing but fighting your way through a linear map, with occasional towns along the way to sell your stuff. If you are looking for a game that will keep you captivated in its origionality and story-line, this is not the game for you. If, on the other hand, you enjoy nothing but combat (a la Diablo), and story line and origionality are less-important, then you may find this game of value.

This game was ok. There is really not all that much new here that has not been done by ID software. The camera-view system in my opinion did not work. There where definite times during the game when this view system made it very hard to move your party around and fight. However, I did like the fact that you were not forced to be a single class. Which ever skill you used is the one that you leveled up in. So you could be a combination of a magic user that could also carry a sword and fight very effectively. The main reason that I gave this game three stars is the view system. I just did not like it.

Dungeon Siege ROCKS! Once you get past the first area its impossible to forget about it. combind it with the editor and this game is hard to leave. AND as if that was enough ... has multiplayer where you can import your characters! With dungeon siege you will never get bored again.

P.S.:when importing your characters make sure dungeon siege is in the cd drive.:-)

Interesting game play. Wonderful graphics. It is very detailed. Never before used camera-view system works great. A unique experience.
