upon log in enjoyed toon creation and spending points how i wanted them to be spent.
i enjoyed the transport to the planet
newebe playground was usualy over camped over crowded even in wee hours of the night or early morning
the guards still run all through new be islies and "help kill"
there are still folks that yell at u if you take there kill
i found the learning curve to be very steep in this game
after bashing a while went to the city and started with missions.
i liked u could pick your own and see what the reward was that was a cool feature
i then went through the leveling process which seem to advance at a decent pace.
i did not find the people online at the time i was, to be friendly or group heavy/team looking
in fact i didnt have a singal person wave or say hello
i did eventualy have someone come up to me lead me to surgery clinic get inplants and another weapon ( latter i described the yellow text to my kiddo and found out it was an in game advisor) once i got the implants and armor and weapon it was allot easier to figure things out.
the loot was readily dropped and sometimes useful
oh nice thing about missions, they were usualy albe to do well and no chance of other folks 'steal killing
i did not find the areas to "open hunt or static dungeons so not sure if they are in yet??????
i still feel like a noob with this game and tried doing massive research but found few sites that had helpful information on how toos. Not going to buy another guide esepcaily since most likely going to be droping it
time played 1 month
i would suggest other rpgs at this time
1 n 64 perfect dark nice first person shooter
2 counter strike
its free no montly fee and its just runing around killing other folks in teams

This is the best MMORPG that I've seen, but its early instability, fatal crashes, annoying bugs, and general unreadiness for release make me worry that it the servers will flounder once the game hits the open market.
Potentially a great game

I started playing AO two days after it was released. I expected there to be problems and indeed, there were problems. Server lag, zoning problems and being unable to log on are just a few of the major ones. Two weeks later, I must say there has been great improvement, but there is still much to be done.
The time I have been able to play has been great fun and I can imagine once all the bugs have been sorted out, this will be the best MMORPG out there. The world is expansive, the gameplay is fun, the characters are unique and there is going to be a storyline that promises to be intriguing.
If you are looking for an online game to play, I would suggest waiting a month or two before picking up AO, unless you want to deal with limited playing time and frustrating circumstances due to the bugs. Once FunCom gets things with this game straightened out, this game will keep me at my PC all day (and night!)
I Really Enjoy This Breath of Fresh Air

The first few months were rough and there was one questionable patch introduced since release, but other than that the game works quite well for me. There is plenty of gorgeous scenery and lots of places to visit. The story line will start soon and some much needed content will be introduced. I enjoy the character development as well as the Quality Level system for Weapons and Armor. Weapons and armor have requiments on them which keeps powerful items out of the hands of lower levels. Well done Funcom!

This is the best MMORPG to date..Gorgeous graphichs that makes your characther almost smell the grass and the air he breaths,
Alas FunCom have had a rough start bugs bugs and countless patching and creating some new ones when patches beeing released. They also had numerous of people that think exploiting is ok and when they get stopped they tend to get angry thus spreding ill rumors about this wonderful game !!
But at todays date they have ruled out almost all bugs and the game is stable as any other,,They also managed to catch the worst exploits,,FunCom has really done an impressive work with the game since beta, working both night and day !!
This is an absolute winner MMORPG
Note: The only sad part is that you really need a monster machine to run this game at full beaty..atlest 600Mhz and 512 RAM and a powerful graphics card,,If you have this mascine you will have a blast,,else stay away until you uppgraded
MMORPG - new flavor

Much has been said here comparing AO to EQ. Having played both, they are different sides of the same coin. Where EQ is Fanatsy, AO is High-Tech. EQ is group orienated where AO is more individual based.
The developers of AO have had the advantage of looking at what players have said was wrong with EQ and have tried to correct some of those problems. There is more flexablity in character development, more choices in "how you look", more variety in loot, no "camping" for loot and so forth. As a result, AO can be confusing, even for a veterian player. AO has tryed to make it easier by adding "shift-left click" on an object that supplies a description and use of the object.
To try and eliminate "camping", the developers have created "mission zones" which allow only one player or team to enter them. (You need a key to get in) It has worked to an extent, monsters are not "camped" but the mission generator is. :-)
So far, AO has proven to be good for people with limited play time as most mission only take a short time to complete. This will probably change at higher levels as the missions get more complicated. As for the variety of missions, I have only seen a few types but there are 6 or 7 factors that you can adjust when generating the mission.
AO has brought some new concepts to the world of MMORPG and it will be a matter of time before any of us know just how well they will work.
Lots of potential

This game, for me, has been an enjoyable experience. The game has a high immersion factor. The future world is a great change from the medieval so often found. Technical problems were common at the beginning but have been much improved. The use of individualized missions is very good [but I do wish for a greater variety]. I have heard of some players being affected by serious bugs, but so far, none have hit my characters. I play several hours a night and rarely crash. I am looking forward to the additon of more content and the promised new 'plotlines'. I would advise on having a decent amount of RAM [256mb and higher] and with a fairly current grfx card, all the gorgeous graphics are available.
Come on

Ok, I admit the game is a bit buggy, and lag is bad in the citys, and you can't play during peak hours.. I've been playing since the first week of it's release.. and I'm addicted.. Funcom has made HUGE advances, and have been coming out with client and server patches every few days to fix problems they have been working on... what program EVER has come out with 10-15 patches within the first month of release. you can't say they're not trying hard.. Graphics are great, story is excellent, everything about the game and character development far exceed any game I've ever played.. The game will only improve technically.. just give it some time..
Great, despite flaws!! -which I believe will be addressed

This really is a fantastic game. This is an online game with thousands of players at any time. Planned to cover 4 years of real time, you can start as one of 4 races, numerous professions and on either side of the coming confict or neutral. The professions are the real interest. As you grow in your profession, you can set up your own skills, set up shop building things for example. Such talents as secret agent, a techno sort of summoner or mage, ultra soldier types, doctors, ninja, etc. The equipment variety and combinations are staggering...it may take 4 years to be able to afford the ultra advanced items. The other area of excellence is the way teamwork really works--that is the best way to see this world- everyone gets credit and if the teamleader dictates (/team loot alpha), everyone takes turn getting stuff from spoils. Graphics are great, the world is vast, missions are excellent.
There's very little not to like, but here they are- on the weekends in the cities, the lag is so bad that you literally can't move-hopefully they are setting up additional servers. The game does occasionally pop me out, but immediately reconnects me--the game is very good about not letting you lose any items or experience...even if you die, you get it all back.
This is a very enjoyable experience overall...look for me (sablestar) and join my team.
