I bought this game 1 week ago. There is no other game like it in any way. Very creative, great gory graphics, good sound, sick characters and cool bosses. Online is so fun, fatality style kills. You really can't compare this with Halo 2. The only thing in common is that they're both shooters, thats it. Your crazy if you own a 360 and you don't buy this. I hope all games coming out for the 360 in the future will be half as good as this. Can't wait for Gears Of War 2.

I've always liked FPS games, but haven't liked them on consoles. I really enjoyed playing Gears of War though. The ability to hide behind objects and the contextual moves takes some getting used to, but I think it makes for a more realistic and fun combat simulation. It can be frustrating when you're running and you stick to walls though. Playing online is fun, but sometimes frustrating for newbs because other players can seemingly walk up to you and frag tag you while you're unloading you're gun into them.

Very intense combat.

Spectacular image control, rich textures, and fine detail. A highly polished and satisfying shotter.

Don't play this, it's too addictive. We went from a family that used to watch movies and TV about 90% of the time to playing and even watching other people play 90% of the time. Only way to go is with an online account. It is a great game as a standalone but online play is way too addictive.
If you want a personal life, do not buy this....

If you haven't played Gears of War and you love action games, you are missing out. I just got an XBOX360 about two months ago and bought this game last month. I haven't played any of my other games on any other system since. It is a SCI-FI action adventure game that just looks great on a HD TV and the sound is amazing in the 5.1 digital surround sound. This game totally surrounds you. I enjoy the CO OP missions the most.

What can I possibly say about this game that has not already been said? In HD this is absolutely the best looking game ever made to date (Seriously). No comparison. OMG!! The details I got it today at 1000 and have been playing it ever since just now took a break to check my emails and write this quick review!!

Graphics - 5 out of 5 "Epic" I think best describes the graphics!!!

Sound - 5 out of 5 stellar sounds I truly didn't expect this game to have a FEAR element to it but sounds can be eerie at times. Voice acting is great!!!

Controls - 5 out of 5 I kept reading reviews from critics saying that the control scheme had a high learning curve, but it really is not all that difficult to learn the controls at all. They work perfectly and fluidly once you got 'em down.

Gameplay - 5 out of 5 in a word "WOW" who thought using cover would be so much fun. Pull the analog in a certain direction and hold the "A" button down and instantly sprint to the next available cover. "SSWWEEETT" Gameplay is also "EPIC"

Story - 5 out of 5 So far so good I have just started but it is looking great so far!!

Bottom Line: A lot of games get hyped up and almost never live up to the hype. This game deserves the hype it received and then some!! This Ladies and Gentlemen is the reason you purchased a XBOX360!!

If you have ever seen this game on a big screen LCD or Plasma at 1080p, you know what I'm about to say....OMG!!! I have a 42 LCD 1080p and it is just something to see. WOW!! Now, to the game. Notice that this one comes from Microsoft Studios; that tells me that probably a ton on money and development went into this title i.e. Halo. The game simply put is the kind of game we all hope for when we lay down $60; it makes you feel like you really got something for your money. Get it...Get it...Get it..Once you get used to the movement abilities of the characters, you can really put some moves on the nasties. And you will learn to move when you run into the Berserkers.....OMG!! Play this one in the dark with your surround sound up high and feel the fear. One hugely great feature of this game is being able to switch between skill levels at each checkpoint. If you can't make it on "hard core" in one part of the game, go back to "casual" and move on. I could go on and on. What a great game. Don't miss out.

It lives up to the hype

This game really does live up to the hype. The game play is second to none. The story line is great and the different levels present different challenges. Strategy is actually critical to game play as you have to run and take cover (as opposed to just non-stop shooting). A must have game.
