Over rated, but still a decent title...

This is a good title, but definitely over rated. The duck and cover is entirely over used, as it's the only way to survive, and the gameplay does get monotonous.
From a graphical point of view, the game sets a new standard for gorgeous visuals and stunning effects. Just a masterpiece to behold and will make any other console owner who is prejudice against the XBox 360 drool with jealousy.

title says it all... this game blows me away every time I turn my box on... if I didn't already have a 360 I would by one just for this game... move over halo and your enormous disgrace to online multiplayer! GEARS OF WAR is here!

This isn't just a Halo killer, it's a game killer in general. You will not find a better combat game out there. The graphics are killer, the sound effects have some serious weight to them, and the gameplay is phenomenal.

The only weakness of this game is the story-line. You can literally see the point where the developers ran out of time and just threw a bunch of levels together in a rush. I'm sure there are quite a few cinematics and "lost levels" that would explain what was going on, and we might see them as downloads, but until then the storyline will remain the major weakness of this game.

But despite that, it is still the greatest game out there. Don't believe me? Look at the rest of the reviews. Everyone is saying pretty much the same thing. ;)

love the game playing experience and the storyline, this game kept me wanting to play the miunte i get home ..all roll into one exiting and fun and very enjoyable...

I bought the game today and went home for lunch to get some game time, just in the first few objectives I can tell you that this game will be one of the best games for 2006 and going in to 2007. Graphics are the best I've seen as far as detail, shading and depth. Controls are fluid and the story has me captured. While I'm a fan of first person shooters, this third person perspective is perfect. A must buy for any gamer.

Graphics are amazing and truly next gen. This game however is not a tactile shooter like Rainbow 6 is. This games multiplayer isn't as fun as i'd hope it to be, no capture the flag type.

This game is awesome. Pretty easy in parts, but then I haven't tried it on Insane yet. Great to play sitting back with some Heavy Metal playing in the background.

deep inside we WERE all scared it wouldn't match Halo 2....

got home, put this game on yesterday and BOOOOOOOOM !!!
Hi Definition heaven !!!!

I was taken away to a world like I've never seen !
Right away , I'm broken out of prison.
i get the feel of the controller and character ..PERFECT!
I feel just right.heavy cause i'm a HUGE guy.
move with analog, D-pad is to select weapon.
R is shoot - for guns, explosives whatever.
the smaller R is the reload button and -better yet Active reload !!
(stronger bullets if I reload right!)
and the A button does it all ! stick to walls roll, dodge, duck, cover !
AMAZING ! and what's B?... chainsaw? WHOA !

NOw do I take a back street and sneak or fight?
Fight of course!!!
What The ! My whole room is rocked by some kind of earthquake!
these creatures come at me! I aim in with the L trigger...
"brap-brap-brap x 50 !
I swear i just put 50 rounds in this beast and he's still coming at me!
and he's dodging and ducking behind cover!

Gears of War Lives Up to the Hype!

Gears of War for Xbox 360 is simply the best game available on any console today. The game has amazingly intense gameplay, great atmosphere and is a technical breakthrough with hyper-realistic graphics (when seen in 720P hi-def) and sound (Dolby Digital 5.1). This is a MUST BUY for Xbox 360 owners! It will define the 360 the same way that Halo defined the Xbox. I'm pretty speechless about how good this game is.
