This game is the best the Xbox360 has to offer right now. Forget about Halo 3. Forget about Bioshock. This is a must have. This game is the only reason why I got a 360.

The game play is fastastic! One of the best game I ever played.

Many annoying peeps playing this game online. Incredibly irritating when they are overly competitive. Doesn't make for a fun time.

This game is awesome, I haven't got this fun since I played Ninja Gaiden Black - Halo/Halo 2 are on my list of great games I don't mean to diminish these superb games :) -.

If you are looking for a third shooter, which will test your gaming skills... this game is for you. GO FOR IT!

As a fairly hardcore gamer, I have a good grip on what kinds of games I like and dislike. For the most part, shooters are a passing fancy for me with multiplayer being the only valueable part of the game.

When I first heard about Gears of War, and it started tearing up the charts I was skeptical. I had read the designer's interview in a couple different gaming magazines, and I didn't agree with a lot of what he said. Eventually I broke down and bought the game. It was intense and fun. My girlfriend and I played through the whole thing together, and we both enjoyed it more than any game since God of War (coincedence on the names?).

Certainly the game is a little gruesome, and I wouldn't recommend it for young kids. However, everyone else would do well to at least give it a rent. It's a great game with a decent amount if single player to keep you busy.

Best TPS ever made. Only game that beats it is Halo 1 or 2. This game pones Halo 3. Dont listen to the one, two, three, and four star reviews. Their all wrong. This game gets a 11/10(no thats not a typo) Buy it today. THIS GAME ROCKS!!!!!

Flaws in Gears of War quite glaring

First off let me say that the game graphicwise is absolutely stunning.The environments as well as the characters are the best seeen to date. The singleplay is a nice couple of days of real fun or weeks if you play briefly and want to not bge in such a rush to finish it so fast. The difficulty is a nonfactor due to saves as repetitions of points you might get stuck in.

The multiplay is where the real lasting power of this game is.While the game online suffers from absolutely no slowdown or framerate concerns the problem is with the weapons. The sniper rifle and the shotgun simply are not consistant.You can shoot someone the exact same way ten times ina row and half the time he dies and half the time you do.The sniper rifle often passes right through someones head. If a guy is charging you and you shoot first and blow his head of gears doesnt recognoize it and the other guy shoots and your dead.Your gun went off first point blank at his head and you get 0 points your dead and his late shot does you in! Unreal ! Also when you sneak up on someone and basically outplay him by doing this you walk behind him and point a bullet of two directly at him point blank you see the shells boucing off him and he than actually turns after this(unreal again) and shoots and your dead . lol.This ruins the game in my opinion.First off the weapons detection here is deepy flawed but secondly when you shoot someone in the back from behind gears should have installed some kind of dection where the guy is dead dead dead and doesnt turn and still fight! The player weapons mechanics simply are not consistant with reality and are still locked in some kind of fake pacman contra type world where this was deemed the norm.If you strive for the best as GOW has than why make all your player actions undermined by shots that bouce off players.You dont even get points sometimes!

Finally when someone charges you witha chainsaw and you shoot at them your shot is supposed to deactivate their shotgun.The chainsaw is a cowardly way to play anyhow but the chainsaw guy is rewarded with akill even though your shot (which is supposed to deactivate their shotgun)hit them first.You hear your shot before their chainsaw it hits them you see it hit them ,you even look later and see you get 4 points for your shot into them yet your chainsawed and dead! Unreal.

If you can play the game knowing that all your best efforts are often wasted due to deep flaws in the mechanics of the game than it is a great game.Just dont be surprised when your weapons fail you and do the exact opposite of what your eyes are telling you they just did.

A Must Have for Shooter fans

I bought this game back in January of '07 and when I got it I couldn't put it down. This game is an amazing action game from start to finish. It really does deserve all the praise it got and should be considered one of the best games for the Xbox 360 of 2006. The campaign is a very fun and exciting, and not to mention at times just plain intense. Sure, the game has amazing graphics, but what really shines about Gears is the gameplay, it's just plain fun to go around and shoot up the Locust hoard. The Multiplayer is extremely fun and engaging, and I play it still today almost a year later. If I had any complaint, it would that the story wasn't that deep, but it isn't that big of a deal when you've got your hands full shooting up aliens and taking your friends online. All in all Gears of War is great fun. My recommendation, go buy this game. It's on my FAV games list and I hope you enjoy this really fun game. (I am rocklover_61's son for all of you who wanted to know)

This is going to sound just like every other review, but I'm at work, bored, and need to fill some time.
Firstly, Gears isn't for everybody. If you want flamboyant colors and the ability to jump, you'll hate this game. If you don't mind an intrquing story, amazing visuals, and gameplay that will keep you entertained for months, Gears will fit that bill.
The mechanics of the game are almost flawless. The intensity of the battles makes you feel like you're a part of the action. Ducking behind anything you can find just feels right. You also have the ability to "Blind Fire", (which was first introduced in the game "Kill.Switch")where you can fire your weapon over or around the objects you're hiding behind, without exposing yourself.
The campaign leaves a little to be desired, mostly because it's only about 6-8 hours long (depending on the difficulty setting). But other than this flaw, it's amazing. You become totally immersed within this virtual world. The action is fast paced, and non-stop.
I'm giving the game a 5/5. It's the ultimate gaming expierence. If you like shooters, and have a 360, you need to go ahead and play Gears. I promise you won't regret it.
