great game and even better onine!!!

Ths isnt your normal WW2 shooting game for game systems.in other games your allies DONT die.In this game you have men on your side falling from all the guns blazing around you.The Germans aree pretty tough in the story too.they hide behind cover and wait till your done shooting to pop their head up and shoot.

You start out as a Russian recruit nmed Vasili in Moscow. You actually go throgh training in this game :).In other games your put right into the action and slowly get taught.Theres 25-30 levels(i dont really know cause i havent checked how many levels their are).As you go through the game you play as a british soldier named Davis,a tank commander for fox three(the tank name), and an American ranger namd taylor.Their are 3 russian missions,5 brtish mission, and american misiions(the missions have diffrent levels in them).

In the russian campaign you fight thrugh Moscow and Stalingrad. In the British campaign you fight in some desert place and normandy(i was surprised the desert rats were in normandy)In the American campaign, you fight to capture and hold point du hoc and push yor way across the rhine and capture and hold hill 400.

But online is way better.its sort of for the veteren players(for people who have beaten veteren on the story mode) because it is VERY hard to beat people online. The maps on multiplayer are really gd too.Full of detail and spots for snipers to hide.

It only took me a day to beat this game but believe me, it is very fun online and "trying" to beat the whole game on veteren

Great just great

As allways in COD you can be the American, British, and Rusian. The Gameplay for all of the campaigns is awsome, the graphics are also outa this world. It is definetly the best WW2 game I've ever played and I recomend it (..)

Mind Bending Game!!!

This is a great game! Lets start off with the Single Player Campaign:

1. The missions are well put together. I have found that i just wont get bored of doing the lvls over again and again. there are some lvls that are so huge that i play them so much that i memorize every little environment detail about it, which is really sayin somethin.

2. The environment in single player is b-e-a-utiful!!! for example, in the winter war lvls, the snow is always falling, you can see the NPC breaths, and you can see smoke rise due to the freezing temperature vs. firing weapons. In the desert lvls, you can actually see the shadows of buildings and the sun is literaly beating down on you! the dust trails left behind you are great! And when there's times when your traveling through water, you can literally see the splashes from missing gun shots and the ripples from your feet. Its great!

3. There's always the fact that this game has a thrilling gameplay to it. for example, there are times when you, the main character, has to enter a building by yourself, i can practically hear my heartbeat because it can get real exciting and scary, especially when an enemy pops out of a corner and charges you, plus they scream so loud when they charge you to put you in fear. I almost dropped the controller once when any enemy charged me, they literally popped out of the shadows and ambushed me! (Try playing this game in the dark at night, its REAL thrilling then)

4.The only flaw in this game is the multiplayer. if you,ve read any of the other reviews, you'd basically get the idea. its really annoying when YOU are trying to play in multiplayer, then all of a sudden the lag shoots you back way to the beginning of the lvl and u end up gettin lost. i really hope that the editors allow more players to play in multiplayer at once, the you can have 30 vs. 30!, (not a lame 4 vs. 4, not too exciting)

Overall, i enjoy this game!

What a great game! Everything, from graphics to sound to playability is through the roof. Yes, there are some lag issues online, but that is being patched. If you buy one game with the system, this is THE killer app. Nuff said.

5/5

I really like this game. Doesn't take much to get the Germans in a position where you can flank them, but the AI recovers fairly quickly. Also, woe be unto you if you let the Germans out-flank you. It is really nice in HD.

I do have two minor complaints:
When in the Russian campaign the game indudces vertigo in me and makes me sea sick feeling. Blech!

Second: After just finishing the British campaign and taking Caen on hard, the game reset everything and I had to start over.

That is it, however, for complaints. Other than that, the game rocks. I really like the German MP44.

Let me start by saying this is a great game. It's loads of fun and multiplayer on Xbox Live is totally addicting ... That is, when you don't face the continuing connection problems. I might have times where I'm unable to connect to any type of game for at least 15 to 20 minutes. I know this issue is not with my connection because when I finally get in a game, sometimes you can see other players are being disconnected (by the messages popping up on screen) or they're trying to move but all you see is them running in place (it's surreal to see). I just want everyone to be aware of the problems that have yet to be fixed in the 2 months since its launch. I had once thought this was related to my router, but I have played other games online without one single problem happening. OK ... Now that you know there are some problems; don't let it stop you from buying this game I'm sure they'll fix these things fairly soon. The intensity of action is extremely high, and the AI of the enemies is astounding. You'll find you have to rely on your squad mates because rushing into certain areas will get you killed very quickly. This is where this game excels. It teaches you that one person doesn't win a war ... It takes the whole group to do that. One of my favorite things about the single player was getting to use the tank for battle. I'd give the game 5 stars if they could just iron out the Xbox Live issues; but for now it gets 4 out of 5.

Best game ever, ever

I usually don't write reviews for video games but I have played my fair share since the days of nintendo punchout. This one is a classic, hands down. And I am kind of late to the game, I have played Gears of War and Rainbox Six but then go Call of Duty. I am going to go on record and say that Call of Dut 2 beats both of those. I am sorry, I had to say it. COD2 felt a little more than a game; I loved standing behind the troops as they were getting gunned down as I was trying to advance to the second story of a building. Or when the enemy may spot several enemy while I flank on the far side, but I might get caught by some hiding enemy character. Flanking in Rainbox six is this; there are two doors, you go in the left and your squad does in the right door (how lame).

Oh yea, getting gunned down in COD is a different experience then getting gunned down Gears of War. Nothing can spoil a party more than that heavy chaingun, may start out with 8 members of your team and they will be gone in an instant.

I put this in my modern best game ever list, alongside; Ninja Gaiden, Rainbox Six and Halo 2.

Only Cons:

1. Graphics could be a little grimmer, add more blood and gore (see Gears of War)
2. I loved the friendly ai and quantity of troops out there. I wish we could have our own squad. Kind of sucks when you cant interact with the guys around you.

Oh yea, put the game of a harder level, the first two were tooooo easy.

Not perfect, but I like it

Are you an online gamer? I'm more of a multiplayer guy myself, and because most other reviews detail the single-player campaign, this review pertains to the X-Box Live gameplay. COD 2 has its pluses and its lows. If you're a WWII buff, you'll love the look and feel. Graphics and sound are great, and it's a fair assumption that level and map design are as historically accurate as possible.

The online gameplay interface is a bit cumbersome and not even as well-oiled as those of some original X-Box games. It can be a pain to have to move around the X-Box Live dashboard every time you want to join or invite a friend, and games take a while to set up. A nice change from some other games is that most people on COD 2 are good sports about winning, losing, and keeping teams fair (there's a surprisingly low amount of profanity amongst players). Overall though, the interface could be better.

The weapons are interesting, and it's a great feature to choose which one you begin with, as it somewhat evens the playing field rather than enabling people who know the maps inside and out to hog the big guns. (The scope-less sniper rifle is money if you can develop quick-aiming skills.) Good stuff.

Level-design is hit-or-miss, depending on your preferred sense of authenticity. While I'm sure the maps are historically accurate, most are crammed with sheds and buildings which have several entrances, staircases and closets. Combine this with a lame radar and the fact that most guns kill a guy within a few shots to discourage roaming out in the open, and you've got a camper's heaven (at times you'll go a couple minutes between locating opponents). Most kills come by surprise, more to the tune of Metal Gear than Halo or Unreal.

From an online-gamer's perspective, it's a fun game and can be very addicting. Just know that COD 2 isn't geared toward players who demand fast-paced action over patient positioning. It's not the best first-person-shooter out there, but it's worth the $30 or $40.
