Read the game FAQs

I bought this game about 9 months ago. I played it for the first 4-5 months then got bored of fishing, catching bugs, and buying furniture. Then I went online and read some game FAQs and found out there are trading quests, and other ways to make money than just fishing and catching bugs. You can sell turnips, grow orchards and hybrid flowers, get a perfect town score and other side goals to go for that I never even knew about. I play it a lot more frequently now, 9 months later, even compared to when I first got the game. I realized there were some things I was actually doing wrong. Now it is so much more fun than before. My advice: Read some game FAQs online to get the most of your game.

An Average Game

I just got this game and I like it, but was very disappointed and aggravated by some things:

1. Graphics (The GameCube's was better)
2. Control (The GameCube's was better)
3. The way that the world spins upward or downward when you move outside. (It makes me dizzy)
4. The small village (Come on, the GameCube's was better)
5. WAY WAY TOO EXPENSIVE, EVEN FOR A DS GAME!!!!

I liked these things:

1. More characters
2. More items
3. Being able to see the sun rise, set, and see the stars and moon appear
4. The in-game clock and date
5. Sound
6. Being able to click letters and draw with the stylus

Overall, I give this game the following grades:

GRAPHICS: C+ (They could have done better)

SOUND: A+ (The surround sound music baffled me)

CONTROL: B- (Using the D-Pad or stylus was hard to move your character around)

FUN FACTOR: C- (They could have had mini-games or something)

PRICE: D- (TOO EXPENSIVE FOR A DS GAME!!!!)

I think that you would be better off with the original game for the GameCube. Worried about portability for that? Just buy a game screen for your GameCube, and you're ready to go for a ride in the car!

The game's fun factor will vary, so give this game some though before buying. The only thing that I really disapproved of was the ridiculous price.

A solid version of AC that doesn't change enough to be all that interesting

One of my very favorite quirky titles on the GameCube is Animal Crossing. It's a great laid-back game that doesn't make you do anything, and allows total freedom. AC: Wild World is a solid enough portable version of the GameCube game with several enhancements and upgrades, but it seems as if it's all too familiar. Don't get me wrong - the game is very fun on its own merits. But compared to the GCN game, it's just not much of anything new. The much-hyped "Wi-Fi Connection" for this game is only available if you have friends who own the game and have come to your game town in person, so it's not very useful. Also, the only changes are simple upgrades that feel more like an expansion than a sequel. Overall, I'd recommend this to those who never tried the GCN game. To everyone else, there's better DS games out there.

A review of Animal Crossing DS

We have Animal Crossing for our Nintendo Gamecube, which we love and play nearly every day. My little brother, my sister, and I all love the whimsical characters and the tasks they make us do (because we know we're going to get something in return).

After loving the Gamecube version, I thought this would make our DS collection phenomenal, and it did. We love playing this on long car trips.
Likes:

*The original cast from the Gamecube version returns, and some characters have new jobs.

*The museum has 2 new exhibits: The observatory for looking at constellations, and the cafe where K.K. rocks out!

*You can now donate fossils to Blathers without mailing them.

*You can get new items like hats and sunglasses.

*With the magic pen, it's easier to write letters and make your own design.

Dislikes:

*No holiday traditions or NES games, but then again, what do you expect from a handheld?

Overall, 4 stars. I recommend this game if you want to take it with you on the go, although those who enjoy holiday traditions and NES games will likely prefer the Gamecube version.

An awsome game

I've had my DS for about three months or so but this is the BEST game I've ever played! I haven't ever play the GC version, but I hear you can get much more (and cooler) clothes. There's also some interesting charecters. Here's a cool little cheat to become friends with the hedgehog at the back (forget her flippin' name) and Brewster. For the hedgehog, go to the Able Sister's every day and talk to her. She'll get nicer to you and start having little chitchats with you. Same with Brewster, 'cept instead of just talking to him everyday, you have to order coffie from him everyday. He'll start being nicer to you and even put special stuff in your coffie. I think it's a really cool game. I'll put it into statistics:

Graphics:*****
Fun: If I could, I'd do this:****************************************

Let's just put it this way: IT'S AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

ROX MY SOCKS OFF! By: GirlyGirl31

Guide to my typing: <3= heart or love. Rox my socks off= really good AC: Animal crossing Hands Down: non-questonable by anyone. GTG: got to go GG31: GirlyGirl31 O.K now that's cleared up on with the review!

The AC is the best DS game hands down.
I really <3 it and it totally rox my socks off! A cool website for AC fans is [...]. But be forewarned some things only apply to AC gamecube version not DS. Too bad cause it sounds really cool.
Anyway the AC is really fun. You create your own town and make your own people. You name your town and get animal neighbors. You can talk to them and they may ask to come to your house. Your animal neighbors may move and you will be more fond of some neighbors than others. You can decorate your house with stuff you buy at the local shop. There is a lot of other things you can do. GTG, GG

My 11 and my 8 year old sons love this game. I tried it and it is lots of fun. For once, there is a game where not everyone has to die, or the guns rule.

WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL???!!!

You fish, you catch bugs, you do stuff that is so uttterly pointless [to me] that I wonder why the game is bought at all.
My friend got animal crossing, let me borrow it, and I found it terrible. There is no point to it!
Can somebody tell me why in the world it is so popular?!
[I gave it 3 stars overall because so many people liked it, one star, for fun, because it was a snooze-fest. Sorry, I just didn't enjoy it.]

A wild world in the palms of your hands!

This is a game I have been waiting a long time for. It is similar yet unique to the gamecube version, with personal quizzes and challenges added. Also there is an observatory where you can create constellations and a coffee place. There is so much to discover in this game and the fact that it is Wi-Fi connectable is very exciting for this game. I will always be a fan of animal crossing!!
