Lack of polish

First, let me say I a big Zelda fan and the only reason that I keep my 64 was for the new Zelda game. Second, this game has a few new twists. I really like the time feature and think more games should have it. The idea of the masks and time travel is a great addition to the series. Third, let me say how much of a disappointment this game is. This game is in a sense is identical to it's counterpart. If you own the first, then you'll see all the similarities. The game keeps all the same characters, keeps most of the same musical scores, and you accomplish the same simple (or frustrating) tasks. Fourth, the game level design is [dumb]. The crowded spaces and messy areas are just so dumb (for lack of a better word). Fifth and finally, the game is hollow. You play with one dimensional characters and follow the same old 'save the world' story with no surprises in the story. Maybe I've been spoiled with playstation RPGs, but a role playing game needs a plot! Nintendo developers could have sat down and fixed all these stupid little quirks, but decided to rush the game out before Christmas. The level design will scare away most older fans, and the perplexing difficulty is too hard for the younger fans (unless you cheat by using a guide). Maybe I'm being too hard on the game; after all, it still is a solid game and fun to play (At times). Maybe I just excepted too much. But most of all, just like Squaresoft screwed up with Final Fantasy 8, Nintendo struck out with Majora's Mask.

This is just about opinions, and this is my opinion: this game was just not fun. Before you rate this review just read it because I got quite a few reasons while i don't like it. I really don't like the game because there is a certain amount of time you have to do for things, and I can never seem to find the person I need to find, and the game is just too hard to play. For the age I was at the time I got this ( 9 ) this game I found slow, and unfun. Then again, I don't really like too many adventure games. Here is my stack, I'm sure all of you guys will disagree, because as it seems, most people like this game.

Graphics: 5/5. For an N64 game, these were very well done, I believe they needed the advanced graphics thing you had to put into the system.

Sound: 5/5. The sound is great. The sounds in towns, the voices, the cutscenes, everything about the sound is great.

Control: 4/5. There are some times when controls can get confused, and you can get a little angry at the game because you pressed the wrong button, but they are overall easy to get used to.

Fun: 2/5. Even though I rated everything else high, I really dislike this game. It is just not my type of game, and like I said before, it's slow, boring, and too hard. ( It was when i was 9, at least. I haven't played it too recently. )

Even though this game is rated E for everyone, be warned: this game is not very easy, OR fun. But I'm sure there are those people out there that enjoy these games. I would still reccomend the older Zelda games, the SNES ones.

will the real Link, please step forward

This game showed very little respect for Link, we know him to fight his own battles, not as an estranged creature....please give us the real Link, not every Tom, Dick and Harry you can think of.....

I hereby pronounce the Zelda series dead. Ocarina of Time had bestowed upon me a premonition that perhaps Zelda's death as a series would soon come to pass in the near future, and Majora's Mask confirmed my sinking feeling in such an exact and nauseating manor as only a truly pathetic game can.

First of all, Zelda doesn't belong in 3D. It robs the player of the ability to be aware of everything in the room, an ability that is VITAL to the Zelda motif. I've said this about Ocarina of Time, and I say it now about Majora's Mask.

Not only that, but you'll spend less than half the time with any actual gameplay (dungeons and the like). About half of this game consists of wandering around Clock Town solving people's problems for them like some kind of deranged therapist. While I'll admit that the roots of this element are plainly visible in the most brilliant installment in the Zelda series (A Link to the Past, naturally!), it has now been carried WAY too far.

The third and final majorly boneheaded move in Majora's Mask is the revival of an ancient gaming abstraction that should have been left dead and buried: the time limit. Nothing good can come of such a thing. Any game with a time limit is not a leisurely activity as a video game should be, but a frantic scramble. BEING FRANTIC IS NOT FUN, people.

That's the last of my major gripes, but the problems don't end there. For example, both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are quite depraved; did you know that? WHAT IS THIS STUPID SPIDER OBSESSION? Guess what Nintendo, it's DISGUSTING! I hated the Deku Tree, and now I hate that god-awful thing in the swamp. Being obsessed with spider webs is just plain CREEPY. (I don't even want to KNOW what kinds of "activities" they were performing as they envisioned fantasies of those spiders in their heads!)

the game that everybody lied about

All I ever hear is rent this game, buy this game, you'll love it. What a bunch of lies!!! What is up with the moon thing, I mean it's so pathetic. The game is supposed to last 72 hours but instead you have 1hour and 12 minutes to complete the WHOLE game! And if you don't finish the game in the time alloted you have to start ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!! Now I've played many N64 games and I have to say this is the most stupid, dorky, bezerk game in history. N64 games usually have great opening stories, explaining what the point is. Not this one, I've played it three times and I still don't the plot, or who's actually good. What a waste of my time. Save your sanity and your money, DONT GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because I loved Ocarina of Time, I thought that the sequel to the first Zelda would be even better. But, was I wrong. The saving factor of this game is horrible. You have only 72 minutes to do a task, and if you fail to complete it you have to start over.

This is the biggest waste of time and money ever created. The graphics are the same, maybe a little worse, but the gameplay is awful. The story is not as good as it seems, and overhyped. If you have Ocarina of Time, keep playing it, and if you don't, get it. Majora's Mask is not worthy of the Zelda name. If you still are thinking about getting Majora's Mask, rent it and feel proud at the money you saved. I wish I had rented it first.

Hey whats so fun about this game all you do is run around a town and get lost all day. Then your horse named timmy! comes and then you ride him and get lost on him,THIS GAME SUX!!!!!!! I mean why cant they just put some old fasiond shooting in this game? All I ask for is to blow some guys head off with a shotgun,Is that too much to ask? This game all you do is run around with your little dagger and try to find some dumb a$$ mask. What kinda game is that??!!? This game would be better if he pulled off his stupid cloths and put on some army ones, Then he could pull out his shotgun and blow the living shi# out of all those big bad boses of his,get the mask and then go out and shoot the towns peeps. That would be a awsome game!!! Why do you people think that this game is so good? There is no blood, no game without blood, shooting, swering, strangleing, stabing, guts,or naked people is a good game. Anyone who got this game is a Coc# sucking dog F***ing little d***!!!! Dont think I am kiding either.
