This ain't no Ocarina of Time rehash

Two years ago, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time simply surpassed many people's expectations. Now comes its successor, Majora's Mask. The graphics and control set-up may be familiar, but the gameplay is a totally new experience from Ocarina of Time and players will be surprised to discover what Majora's Mask has in store.

The coolest and new element of gameplay is the ability to don the power of over 20 masks. Each mask has its own powers and own musical instrument. Another feature is the ability to again use the Ocarina, in which you can play and time-travel between days. As Link, you race against time to stop a moon from crashing to the world and have 72 hours to do so, retrieve Majora's Mask from Skull Kid and rescue Epona. The 3-day time limit will keep you on your feet and after you beat the game, you can return to any area to you haven't completed or revisit just for fun. From Ikane Village to Snowhead to Clocktown and Termina Field, the worlds are great. Everybody rejoice, because the Overworld music is finally back.

Don't let anything discourage you from playing this game. Forget about the storyline, familiar graphics and control set-up, Zelda: Majora's Mask is a totally new concept and is completely different from Ocarina of Time, while being one of the best games out this year for the N64. Like any Legend of Zelda title, Majora's Mask is simply pure fun.

This game has definetely lived up to my and many other peoples expectations, the screen play is awesome and there is always a lot of stuff to do in the certain amount of time that you have to complete each task. The only downside to this game from the Ocarina of Time is that you dont have all the time to wander around and explore the land, but with all the advantages to this game, that it's just a minor con. All in all this game is absolutely great.

All I have to say is this game is the best! I would have it tie with ocarina.Thought the time limit can be a little annoying this game still rocks. I don't know what I would do without it. Keep up the good work Miyamoto.

I really enjoyed this game. It's similar to Ocarina of Time in combat and style, for those of you who tried it. That is, it has action combat where you can use various items, techniques, and attacks. It's easy to learn how to fight.

The story follows Link, or whatever you decide to call him, a boy who is looking for a lost friend. He was travelling through the woods when a skullkid (a child-like forest dwelling creature) with a magical mask and two fairies ambushes him and steals his horse and his ocarina. Link follows the skullkid into a cave where he is transformed into a deku scrub (a little wooden guy). The skullkid runs away and leaves one of his fairies behind. The fairy, in order to reunite with her brother, joins Link. The two continue through the cave and get to Clock Town, in the land of Termina. Clock Town has a problem, however: the scary-looking moon is falling on top of it. Link has three days to catch the skullkid, who is using the mask to bring down the moon, or the town is destroyed. It's kind of tough to manage your time sometimes, especially if you're new to Zelda games and you have no help. But you'll get used to it.

The music is very nice. It matches the area and the situation, like music for battle, senimental moments, or in the desert or at sea. I wouldn't mind having the soundtrack. The sound effects are realistic and the voices are decent. The graphics are good for N64.

A feature unique to this game is the use of special masks that give you certain abilities. A few examples are the bomb mask (blows up), the faerie mask (glows when fairies are around), and my favorite, the bunny mask, which makes you run faster and look adorable. There are a good number of masks to collect, and you get them through interesting quests. There are three major masks that don't just give you abilities, but transform your body. They are the deku scrub mask, the zora mask, and the goron mask. Each form has it's own powers and you'll need them in certain areas.

This is one of my top ten favorite games. It is almost, though not quite, as good as Ocarina of Time, which is probably the best Zelda game ever. There are few, if any, problems. I definitely recommend it.

Ocarina of Time - Level 2

Majora's Mask basically has the same graphics and core gameplay (moves, weapons, etc.) as Ocarina of Time. So it is definitely a solid purchase if you enjoy the N64 era Zelda games, and it's really inexpensive these days. But Majora's Mask is also very challenging, and can even be frustrating. 'Majora's Mask' is much more difficult than 'Ocarina of Time' thanks to some very difficult puzzles involving an absolute slew of magical masks, and the ability to travel back and forth through time. Some of the puzzles are downright mind-boggling. It is a good idea to purchase a strategy guide along with this game, unless you enjoy torturing yourself. I've played every Nintendo console Zelda game to date, and I can easily say that this one is by far the most difficult.

HORIBLE!!

THIS IS THE WORST GAME EVER! The best game ever was the legend of zelda ocarana of time. What they did was put everything they loked from ocarana, made it bad, and stuck it in a game with horrible graphics and a sucky plot!!

Stressful but as Great as ever!

I just started playing this game yesterday (when it came out in Europe). After playing for 7 hours, my first impressions are that this game is stressful: you only have 3 "days" (in fact approximately 72 minutes) to run on various errands, solve castle puzzles, etc. If you can't finish in time, you have to start almost all over again... And when I have only 10 real minutes left to find the big key, switch off crystals, jump from various platforms, find the temple boss and kill him, I start playing worse and worse, hehe.

However, the graphics and musics are as beautiful as ever, and it has all the typical Zelda sounds that make Zelda the best games ever! It just made my hair stand on end to see and hear all these things again! I just can't wait to play some more... and try to finally solve my first temple!

This is one of the best games I have ever played. If you like ocarina of time then this is a MUST HAVE! You will not be dissappointed I have finished it and it was a great game. But I do recommend you get a strategy guide it gets hard at times.

Looks great, but I'm still waiting..

I haven't played Majora's Mask yet but I've been hooked on the Zelda series ever since I rented OOT about two years ago. If Majora's Mask is anything like the Ocarina of Time I'm sure I'll love it. I know it's been out for a while now but I haven't been able to buy it or rent it because of my inability to get an expansion pack, but I'm still waiting! If its half as good as the reviews I've read says it is, I'm willing to bet I'll be playing for hours when I finally get it.

I liked it alotý

It may not be as fun as the Legend of Zelda O.o.T. but it is fun none the less. I don't like the fact you need an Expansion Pak but, it's worth it....!
